We both live and work in Kent and are ideally situated to travel back and forth to France which we do as much as possible. We have two married children who love coming out to France as much as we do with their friends and families.
Anne & Dave Chapman purchased this cottage in 2003
We found the property back in 2003 and fell in love with it immediately. We wanted to purchase somewhere that was close enough to visit for short or long stays and this area fitted the bill perfectly. It is conveniently situated for ferries and airports and an easy drive from the Shuttle.
We love the peace and tranquility of traditional, rural France where we can relax and immerse ourselves in the French way of life.
The property is set in three acres of private gardens and woodland, on the edge of marshes leading to the River Vilaine. The lanes around the property are quiet and the countryside unspoilt, ideal for watching birds and wildlife.
Contact us with initial enquiry and we will confirm availability and forward booking form and details. Please return with £50 per week deposit (and linen requested if required). Balance payable 6 weeks prior to holiday.
In the high season changeover day is Saturday but this could be flexible out of season. The gites are available from 3pm on the day of rental and should be vacated by 10am on the departure day.
Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property/properties per week in UK Pounds.
This was my third visit to Primrose at La Salle, and I will be back again. The property is in a superb rural setting. I love walking the marshes and this year enjoyed the Storks which were nesting for the second year running. Wild deer, red squirrels, together with the array of birds which are attracted to the feeding stations on the La Salle property, all add to the enjoyment.
As an author I find the peace and tranquillity excellent, but I also enjoy the local villages and would particularly recommend the riverside café on the River Vilaine. The food is very reasonably priced and the outlook over the river superb. To get there cross the marshes, take the bridge over the river, turn left, follow the road for a about a mile and follow the towpath to the next bridge. (a 30 minute cycle ride - take advantage of the vast array of bicycles available on the property)).
The historic town of Redon is a delight (less than an hour by cycle along the towpath and 15 minutes by car). The coast is less than an hour by car.
I found the property very comfortable, and the grounds a delight.
I can say no more, than I will be back again. During my stays I have met a wide range of people, from family groups (who seem to enjoy the games room), to honeymoon couples to couples enjoying staying together in one of the larger gites)
The gites are in a very private and peaceful setting - the surrounding area is great for animal and bird watching. Lovely to see red squirrels running around the gardens. There's plenty to do within an hour of the cottage - coast/beaches/beautiful old towns and villages. The cottage was cosy with comfortable furnishing and very well equipped. English TV channels were welcome on the nights we didn't go out!
In all. a lovely place to stay, particularly if you like the countryside and peaceful surroundings. Value for money compared to other properties we have stayed in.
We had a wonderful time staying here with friends. It is perfect if you do go away with friends or family as having the 3 gites means you do get your own privacy.
The surroundings are absolutely stunning and you are not overlooked by anyone.
The gites are very clean and it was remarked on many times that we could happily live there and never leave!
Will definitely be back again, I have never felt so relaxed after a holiday and the self catering facilities were so good that it turned out to be a cheap holiday too!
