A Lovely Family Holiday

  • 4 of 5

We loved our traditional cottage La Boheme with its period features and homely feel. It was very well equipped with everything you might need in the kitchen and ideal for self catering. The welcome pack was fabulous with all the essentials for our first evening and breakfast. We were grateful that the owner had even sourced some gluten free bread and goodies for our son who has Coeliacs Disease. We had a very warm welcome from the owners who offered suggestions of places to visit and things to do. This is a very peaceful location just as described with pretty gardens. We enjoyed family fun in the pool right into the early evening and it was kept nice and clean throughout our break. The games barn kept our boys aged 9 and 6 occupied, we also borrowed tennis rackets to play on the nearby court and fishing nets to explore the small river with. This was a good base for exploring this part of France and we ventured as far as La Rochelle which is an hour away. Melle is a lovely old town to explore and is only a few mins drive away. It has all the essential supermarkets, chemist, cafes etc. We will definitely return for some quality family time and further exploring!

La Boheme - a lovely peaceful French cottage.

  • 5 of 5

La Boheme is a beautiful gite in a lovely location. We could not have wished for a better place to spend a relaxing month - this was our fourth visit to Le Tilleul Gites. The gite is very clean and well equipped and the beds are so comfortable - we have never slept so well. We enjoyed visiting lots of places, including Futuroscope, Cognac, La Rochelle and Niort. We ate out at some lovely restaurants, including Les Voyageurs in Chef Boutonne and L'Hostellerie de l'Abbaye at Celles sur Belle. We enjoyed returning "chez La Boheme" to relax in the lovely gardens and to cool off in the pool. We also enjoyed a few glasses of champagne sitting in the hot tub looking at the clear starry skies.Vicky & Bill are very friendly and helpful and work hard to make guests feel welcome and we are already planning our fifth visit next year .

Lovely property, lovely people.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this beautiful, traditional cottage for 11 nights in July. What a lovely place to relax, soak up the sunshine and enjoy the company of our super hosts. Vicki and Bill are a delightful couple, very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. La Boheme lived up to all expectations, the accommodation being well maintained, clean and very comfortable with a lovely outside dining area. We made full use of all facilities - the games room, swimming pool, sun loungers and the hot tub was an added bonus! On arrival, at the gite, Bill showed us around the property and introduced us to Bessie and Daisy who had kindly provided us with some eggs! The whole welcome pack was much appreciated and well thought out. We had some good days out, including the beach at Chatellailon Plage and the Aquarium at La Rochelle, We especially enjoyed our visit to see the Donkeys at the Asinerie du Baudet du Poitou, but our favourite place has to be St Jean d'Angely. We are certainly hoping to return to La Boheme before too long, and discover more of this lovely part of France.

Le Tilleul Gites

  • 5 of 5

We can thoroughly recommend Le Tlleul Gites having had a wonderful holiday there this year. The gite was everything claimed - very comfortable, very clean and well maintained with everything one could wish for to make a holiday perfect. The welcome pack was much appreciated after a journey. We were surprised to find that one can be at the gite within one day of leaving home - a big plus for everyone but especially families with children. The facilities on site were as described - swimming pool wonderful on a hot day, lovely grounds to wander admiring the various fruit trees and flowers or to sit and relax in perfect peace. The Play Barn was very well equipped with lots to keep everyone entertained if not out exploring the beautiful countryside, rivers, beaches, historical sites or excellent restaurants - indeed, something for all. Last but not least Vicky and Bill were very friendly attentive hosts providing help or suggestions if required but giving guests the space to do whatsoever they wished - the perfect holiday. Will definitely return.

About Vicky Renwick

We have always loved France and it was our dream to be able to live here. We bought a holiday home in Poitou Charentes 15 years ago and spent many happy family holidays there. After Bill decided to call it a day on his fire service career and our children had left home, we decided to start looking for somewhere more permanent where we could share our love of France with others. We were thrilled when we found "Le Tilleul", situated in the peaceful and pretty village of Paizay le Tort. Les Hirondelles and La Boheme have welcomed many holidaymakers over the years and we look forward to welcoming you soon.

Vicky Renwick purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Vicky Renwick chose Paizay-le-Tort

The tranquility, the birdsong, the variety of wildlife, the abundant sunflower fields, the pace of life, the friendliness of the locals, the coast and beaches within easy reach, charming villages, fabulous food and wine, the history, the contrast of the seasons, the wonderful climate and the fact that this area is reached within a day's drive of the UK

What makes this cottage unique

Le Tilleul (means Lime Tree in France and is the beautiful tree which greets you as you enter the gates of Le Tilleul Gites) is set in a pretty village with all the buildings enclosed in the gated and walled courtyard - step outside the gate and walk or cycle the country roads, in summer abundant with sunflowers and often with only the birdsong for company, although you may see red squirrels, birds of prey and deer as you meander the roads. Our gites provide you with the perfect place for your holiday whether in Les Hirondelles or La Boheme. Our shared pool gives you somewhere to cool off and the indoor games room is perfect for keeping the whole family amused. If you want to explore the local area, we can put you in touch with a local bike hire company who have bikes and equipment for all ages. If you'd like a bit of pampering whilst on holiday, we can arrange that too. Although we are on-site, we are discreet but also on hand to provide any help and advice required.
