Literally 1 minute from Metro A Colli Albani subway stop and a few minutes to the historic centre, this sunny, stylish and spacious apartment (6th floor with lift; 603 sq ft - 56 mq), beautifully furnished and decorated with lots of art work, is owned by a Scottish Italian family who take great pride in making it a warm home from home for their guests - supreme good value and a perfect choice for visitors to Rome. Enjoy all the space, comfort and freedom of staying in a home and don’t worry about getting around Rome - the underground station, many bus stops and a taxi stand are right at your doorstep. The flat has a homely atmosphere and is close to everything you might need. You will be living in a typically Roman area and be able to mix with the locals, away from the tourist trap. Air conditioning and comfy couches make it a joy to come back to in the hot season and you'll enjoy sitting on the balcony at the end of the day with a glass of wine watching the world go by.

Located in the 'Appio Latino' district, along the Via Appia Nuova (one of the best shopping areas in Rome), it is served by the A-line metro that connects in 10-15 minutes to all the main attractions such as the Colosseum, Spanish Steps, St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican Museum and the entire historic center. We're also close to the Old Appian Way archaeological site with its ruins and catacombs. With the subway station, many buses and a taxi stand just outside the front door, travelling around Rome is incredibly easy.

The apartment features: spacious bedroom (double glazed window doors that open onto a balcony) with king size bed, fold-up bed suitable for a child, dressing table, wardrobe; large living room with 2 couches (one of which a opens out to a comfortable queen size sofa bed), dining table, LCD flat screen TV; fully equipped kitchen; bathroom with shower; hall with extra wardrobe; balcony where you can sit at the end of the day with a glass of wine watching the world go by. A/C. Free WI-FI. Supermarkets, cafés, great variety of shops, restaurants, takeaways, "pizzerias and gelaterias", ATM's, etc. nearby. Nature lovers might want to visit the 'Valle della Caffarella' park and Villa Lazzaroni (with a children's playground) for a break from city life.

About Irene

Hi, I'm Irene. I inherited this flat from my parents and am very attached to it. I was born and brought up in Scotland and "brought over" to Italy when my parents retired, but I've been living here a lifetime and now consider Italy as home, although I often think fondly of my childhood in Scotland. It was my sons' idea that I rent this flat out to tourists. I decided to give it a try and have been happily welcoming people from all over the world since August 2006. I would love to welcome you too.

What makes this apartment unique

The flat has a homely atmosphere and is close to everything: supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, takeaways, "pizzerias and gelaterias", boutiques, banks, car hire, open air fruit and vegetable market, etc. The location is fantastic. From the balcony you have a beautiful view of the hills to the south of Rome and the Via Appia Nuova. The underground stop is right at the doorstep and bus stops too, which means you reach the historic centre in 15 mins and there's no walking to do when you come back at night with weary feet. You will be living in a typically Roman area and be able to mix with the locals. If you get tired of city life and want a breath of fresh air, go and visit the Caffarella Park. It's just short walk away and is the most significant example of ancient countryside in the city.

The apartment amenities include air conditioning, double glazing, security door, washing machine, microwave, gas cooker, fridge/freezer, toaster, free unlimited high speed WI-FI, SAT TV (only news channels in English, like BBC, CNN etc. - plenty of channels in French, German and Spanish), DVD, stereo radio/CD player, iron/ironing board, vacuum cleaner, hair dryer. There's plenty of space and we have done our best to make our guests feel at home. It's a very well furnished and equipped 'home from home', with romantic touches, to which many guests return again and again. Tourist information and instructions on how to work the various appliances are available in the apartment. Free on street parking and guarded garages for those of you who plan to hire a car. The apartment is non-smoking although smoking is allowed on the balcony.

The apartment (6th floor with lift) is located near the Old Appian Way, in one of the best connected areas of Rome, Appio-San Giovanni. In fact, one of the main assets of the property is that it's right at an A-line Metro stop (Colli Albani). The A-line Metro was built to connect all the main tourist attractions, from the Old Appian Way to the Vatican, so our apartment combines the advantages of an affordable price with easy access to the historical centre. All the major sights can be reached in a few minutes. Buses also widely available. There are 2 supermarkets and a great mix of shops, pharmacies, banks/ATM's, restaurants, pubs, takeaways, pizzerias and gelaterias, all in close proximity. You'll enjoy walking around the adjacent Via Appia Nuova (one of Rome's best shopping streets) and the nearby open air fruit and vegetable market. Nature lovers might want to visit the beautiful "Valle della Caffarella" park and Villa Lazzaroni (with a playground for children) for a break from city life. Changeover cleaning only. One set per person/per week of bed linen and towels included in price. Private balcony where you can relax after a busy day sightseeing.

Lovely comfortable apartment in great location.

We stayed 6 nights in this lovely apartment which was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Beautifully decorated and in first class condition and had everything you needed for a home from home experience. The Metro is literally 2 minutes walk away and there is a fantastic range of local shops and excellent restaurants. The owner Irene provided us with all the information needed for a great holiday in Rome and went out of her way to make us very welcome. Thanks Irene

Fantastic Place

What a gem of a find.Spacious apartment, very clean and great location. So near the metro to get access to all the sites. Irene the owner such a lovely person and please continue to rent out the place as would love the chance to use again. Will tell family and friends and hopefully be able to come next time without the kids.

Lovely apt rental in Rome

Irene was a wonderful host and her apt was just right for the 3 of us; it was well furnished, had a great balcony to enjoy the city, was very well located right down the street from the Metro - so getting around Rome was made easy. Irene was readily available for questions before we arrived and while we were there! She wants all of her guests to be very comfortable and arranged things for us like a car/driver from the airport to her apt. The only negative (and we knew this from another review) was that the apt is located on a very busy street, so quiet nights for sleeping were non-existent, but other than that, it was a great apt and a very comfortable 3-4 days for us while in Rome. Irene - thanks for all of your helpfulness. Your apt was lovely!!!

Rome's a big city and our apt is located right next to the subway and many bus stops, making it tremendously easy and quick to move around. From the balcony we have a beautiful view of the "Castelli Romani" in the distance. I suppose light sleepers should close the windows overlooking the piazza at night and keep the side street windows open. A big hug to all of you, Irene

Great location and lovely apartment

The flat is lovely, spacious, very clean and good value. The location was perfect right on the metro line, in only 10 minutes you are in the centre of Rome. There are lots of little restaurants, gelaterias and cafes on your doorstep which offer great value and good food. We highly recommend Irene's home from home.

Couldn't ask for more!

Thanks very much to the hostess Irene for sharing her apartment with us. The location to the metro station and buses made our sight seeing very easy and fast. The apartment is meticulously clean and very comfortable. Wish we could have stayed longer. 3 nights just not enough to see and do all Rome has to offer. I guess we'll have to come back and stay here again!

Stay tax £3.13 per night, per person. This amount will be due to the owner upon arrival. Does not apply to children under 10 years.

Our rates are all-inclusive, covering utilities, bed and bath linen, final cleaning and free unlimited WI-FI. No extra charges except for electricity, which in summer months is metered and charged €0.40 per kWh for air conditioning. Rates depend on the season, number of guests and length of stay, so ask us for a quote.

THE RENTAL PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE CITY TAX: €3.50 per person per night for a maximum of 10 nights (not applicable to children under 10), which is payable to the owner on arrival.

€150 damage deposit to be paid on arrival, refundable on departure provided everything is in order.

Check in is preferably from 3 to 7 pm and check out from 8 to 10 am, but we try our best to be flexible. If we don't have guests leaving our apartment on the day you arrive you are welcome to check in early. There is, however, a 30 euros fee for check-in after 9 p.m. and the latest check in time is 10 p.m.

Transfer to and from airport can be arranged.
