About the Owner

Hi, I'm Irene. I inherited this flat from my parents and am very attached to it. I was born and brought up in Scotland and "brought over" to Italy when my parents retired, but I've been living here a lifetime and now consider Italy as home, although I often think fondly of my childhood in Scotland. It was my sons' idea that I rent this flat out to tourists. I decided to give it a try and have been happily welcoming people from all over the world since August 2006. I would love to welcome you too.

We enjoyed our stay in this well located and beautifully organised apartment. Irene's attention to her guests' comfort is admirable, as is her attention to detail in the organisation of all aspects of the apartment. We will definitely recommend this lovely place. Truly a haven in Rome

  • 5 of 5

Hi Irene, Sorry for the late review but I just got back from India. Thank you for making our trip to Rome all the more special. We loved your home and it truly was a haven to come back to with tired legs after being in the busy part of touristic Rome. We never realized how close it is to the centre and how amazing the trains and buses were from the flat- we were in the Vatican in 20 mins. Thank you so much once again for being such a lovely host and for allowing us to share your lovely home which truly was a home from home with every convenience (especially the hot showers for tired legs). We do hope to be back and so do the many friends and family we have spoken to about your apt. I am so glad we did not stay in a hotel and enjoyed the local markets and food like locals. By the way thank you for the lovely bakeries you suggested and for arranging the taxi transfer for us and do say a hello to Lorenzo who was lovely.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Anita, for writing that lovely review. I'm so glad to hear you appreciated our home and our neighbourhood, which gave you the opportunity to see how people live in the “real Rome”, away from the tourist areas. I was delighted to meet you and your family and look forward to welcoming you back, and perhaps even some of your friends, in the not too distant future. Best wishes, Irene

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay in the apartment and neighbourhood, Carol and Brian. Sadly taxi drivers do overcharge at times and this is why I always offer to arrange airport transfer. Thanks for coming to stay with us. It was great to meet you and you'll be welcome back any time. Best wishes, Irene

A lovely apartment, very conveniently situated

  • 5 of 5

A clean, homely, well maintained and very well appointed apartment. Spacious rooms, well equipped with all you would need. Great location with plenty of local restaurants and both the Metro and the fantastic number 87 bus just outside-you could get anywhere in the city with ease!

The owner met us personally and was very welcoming and helpful.

We have already recommended this apartment to others and will be staying here again when we go back to Rome.

Highly recommended!

Superbe flat and location

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay in Irene's wonderful flat. We stayed two weeks and the location is fabulous. Tube at the foot of the stairs and it takes 10 minutes to Termini station we timed it. The flat is home from home an Irene is the perfect host even to arranging pick to and from the airport. Rome is magical and this is the perfect place to stay.

Lovely flat with great access to Rome's tourist sites

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in this apartment. It is situated just a minute's walk from an underground station that takes you straight into the centre of Rome in about 20 mins. There is also a main bus stop just outside the front door that runs into the city and connects with other main bus routes.

There are a couple of good supermarkets within 5 mins of the apartment (one of which stocks gluten-free food). In addition, there are coffee shops, bars, pizza and other takeaways in the same street, to say nothing of the patisserie and ice cream shops! Everything we wanted was on hand, or within easy walking distance.

The apartment is very comfortable, and the kitchen has all the tools we needed to cook a main meal each day. Despite being on a main road, we were not bothered by the noise, and enjoyed watching the street from the balcony. Everything was in good working order, and spotlessly clean.

We would certainly recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to explore Rome as it makes an excellent base for a holiday. Irene was very helpful, even lending us maps and guides to help us find our way around.

Perfect Apartment. Should be 10 stars.

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed in many apartments all over Europe, this one is our favourite. The owner makes the booking process seamless and easy as she is so friendly and efficient. The apartment is absolutely spotless and has everything you could need for a home from home holiday. All facilities provided are good quality, comfortable bed with nice pillows, beautifully clean, well ironed bedding. Good hot shower, soft white towels. Washing machine, cooker, fridge, microwave all worked well. Important to most people these days is fast reliable Wi Fi and that was brilliant. We spent many hours sitting on the lovely sunny balcony watching the Italians driving skills as they turned a 2 lane road into 5 or 6 lanes whenever they needed to! There are 2 good supermarkets just across the road along with wonderful pasticherias and gelaterias. The location of the apartment is ideal as the metro is less than a minute walk away and most of the main attractions of Rome can be reached quickly and cheaply using the metro. There are buses and taxis just outside the apartment.

I can't fault anything about this apartment and highly recommend it to any potential Rome visitors. We enjoyed the whole experience so much, we hope to return again next year.

Thank you very much Irene.

From the Owner

The flat has a homely atmosphere and is close to everything: supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, takeaways, "pizzerias and gelaterias", boutiques, banks, car hire, open air fruit and vegetable market, etc. The location is fantastic. From the balcony you have a beautiful view of the hills to the south of Rome and the Via Appia Nuova. The underground stop is right at the doorstep and bus stops too, which means you reach the historic centre in 15 mins and there's no walking to do when you come back at night with weary feet. You will be living in a typically Roman area and be able to mix with the locals. If you get tired of city life and want a breath of fresh air, go and visit the Caffarella Park. It's just short walk away and is the most significant example of ancient countryside in the city.

  • The apartment (6th floor with lift) is located near the Old Appian Way, in one of the best connected areas of Rome, Appio-San Giovanni. In fact, one of the main assets of the property is that it's right at an A-line Metro stop (Colli Albani). The A-line Metro was built to connect all the main tourist attractions, from the Old Appian Way to the Vatican, so our apartment combines the advantages of an affordable price with easy access to the historical centre. All the major sights can be reached in a few minutes. Buses also widely available. There are 2 supermarkets and a great mix of shops, pharmacies, banks/ATM's, restaurants, pubs, takeaways, pizzerias and gelaterias, all in close proximity. You'll enjoy walking around the adjacent Via Appia Nuova (one of Rome's best shopping streets) and the nearby open air fruit and vegetable market. Nature lovers might want to visit the beautiful "Valle della Caffarella" park and Villa Lazzaroni (with a playground for children) for a break from city life. Changeover cleaning only. One set per person/per week of bed linen and towels included in price. Private balcony where you can relax after a busy day sightseeing.
