5 Star holiday cottage with its own private indoor pool. Situated in Thorpe, a delightful village at the southern end of the White Peak area of the Peak National Park, Thorpe Cloud View cottage is a charming holiday location within the four-acre grounds of, but set apart from, Thorpe House, a late Georgian limestone grade two listed building of considerable character. The cottage, allocated the top rating of five stars, has uninterrupted views of Thorpe Cloud, at the entrance to Dovedale, the limestone gorge which separates Derbyshire and Staffordshire. The surrounding areas provide excellent walking. The picturesque Derbyshire market town of Ashbourne is just some 3 miles away; the spa town of Buxton, and the historic houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall and Kedleston are all within easy access. Alton Towers, the UK’s largest leisure park is only a twenty-minute drive away.

Highly Recommended relaxing holiday

Once again we would like to say how lovely Thorpe view cottage is for a perfect holiday,this was the third year on the run we have been and have booked again for 2017. This is the most relaxing holiday cottage we have ever been to and the private pool and jacuzzi is such a bonus always kept at a constant temperature. The cottage is kept very clean and is well equipped with everything you could possibly need and a recently refurbished luxurious shower room on the ground floor .Ray and Julie are the perfect hosts were nothing is to much trouble. Looking forward to next year with walks to Dovedale and on the Tissington trail. Thanks once again to Ray and Julie. Ivan and Jean

Surrounded by beauty

This is a superb property. Ideal for a couple - really well maintained. We had our son, wife and granddaughter stay for a night which worked out brilliantly. The lambs and chickens in the next field were a real joy for the little one to watch. The log burner provided cosiness on colder evenings, and the pool is a real bonus, available anytime. Walks from here are easy to find, and I took my bike the first time we stayed here as the Tissington trail is just down the road. The local pub is welcoming and popular too. The owners are really helpful and friendly as well. We have already booked our third visit!

Highly recommend

We stayed at the cottage in January for my birthday and we had a wonderful break. It is cosy but quite spacious for a one bedroom cottage and had everything we needed. Upon arrival the fire had been lit which was much appreciated on a cold night in January. The owners had also left fresh flowers and a bottle of wine. I have to say that I had the best nights sleep I've had in ages. The bed was so comfortable as was the bedding. The whole cottage was spotlessly clean I can't fault it. The pool was an added luxury that we enjoyed every evening, also very clean. The cottage is in a courtyard next to the owners house but the way it's set gives you a complete sense of privacy but the owner popped in upon arrival to make sure we had everything we needed, which was nice. I would definitely recommend this cottage and I'm looking forward to booking it again. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Perfect 3 night holiday lovely friendly owners highly reccommend

Our overall stay was fantastic we had no problems during our stay on arrival there is details left for all facilities around the cottage and also how to use the various appliances and we also was given a bottle of wine. Was lovely to sit around the fire at night especially due to the cold wet weather that we had while we was there. The only problem we occurred was the wifi which isn't necessary on a holiday but the owners soon resolved this. Beautiful grounds to walk around and amazing views. My son especially loved the chickens that wondered around the fields. I would highly recommend this cottage. Thankyou

Derbyshires best kept secret....

Not sure we really want to share this with everyone, as really don't want the cottage to be fully booked next time we'd like to visit!!

Thorpe Could View Cottage is an extremely well appointed cottage, in a fantastic location. The facilities are second to none.

It is so nice to stay in accommodation where so much attention to detail has been applied. It is always immaculately clean on arrival.

This was our third visit in less than a year. It is so relaxing, that we are been drawn back repeatedly. It is great to have sole use of a lovely pool area.

The cottage is in a great location overlooking Thorpe Cloud, with a lovely garden area to sit and take in the views..

Would absolutely recommend!!

A totally relaxing break.

We booked this at really short notice as we were supposed to be going to Egypt but that had been cancelled due to the current political crisis.

My husband scanned through many descriptions and picked this lovely venue, we were so lucky. What a treat - as lovely as every one had described and no the photos just don't do it justice! The cottage is well prepared, stocked and furnished. Warm and comfy for a November break with the howling wind and rain.... The pool was lovely and warm, it was great to have it available at any time. The location is great - we are not natural walkers but enjoyed a couple of walks.

The hosts were great, greeted us on arrival, explained how to best use the pool and were there when we left. Thank-you for returning our forgotten leads!

We went to Buxton Operatic Hall and saw the "Tenors of Rock", very good! Chatsworth House and Xmas fair was definitely worth a visit too.

We would love to come back just got to get saving for next year.

Further Details:

There are many country pubs that offer a friendly atmosphere and reasonably priced food, or high quality restaurants at nearby hotels or within 3 miles at Ashbourne. Ashbourne offers a choice of supermarkets, high street & local bespoke shops, banks and many ladies boutiques. There are a number of Antiques shops in Ashbourne. The pub in the village now named The Old Dog has been fantastically renovated and is great for a drink something to eat, approx. 1/3 mile to walk UP the road.

Shrovetide is an annual event each February which sees Ashbourne closed to traffic & shops boarded up for 2 days whilst the local townsfolk "Upards" take on the "Downards" in a "football" match through the streets with goal posts some 3 miles apart. A spectacle to behold!!

The Holiday Cottage enjoys uninterrupted view of the hills of Thorpe Cloud at Dovedale. Often you will be able to watch sheep and lambs, cows, bulls and calves, many types of birds including woodpeckers all from the secluded outside seating area of the holiday cottage. Indoor Swimming Pool & Luxury Jacuzzi. This opulant swimming pool is heated to 31 degrees. It is about 1.4meters deep and 14 metres (40 ft) long. Ideal for the serious swimmer, for the beginner or for the children. The Jacuzzi has its own heating control and has jets from the sides and the bottom of the seat. Utility Room: Eco friendly remote central heating system (biomass wood pellets) Washing machine and dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The cottage is cleaned after each guest visit. Towels and bedlinen are provided. Our gardener tends to the grounds and may start early (7.00am). Also our handy man is often around keeping everything looking great.
