Huge Secluded And Detached Family Villa With Private Pool

Overview

Property

Updated: 06-Dec-2016
Villa in Santo Estevao, Nr. Tavira, Algarve, Portugal - 'Villa Dois Irmaos' - In Santo Estevao Near Unspoilt Tavira

’Villa Dois Irmaos’ is located within 1 acre of beautiful manicured gardens, at the top of tranquil citrus and almond groves with views down to the coast in front and to the mountains behind. This detached secluded villa is not overlooked. With 5 golf courses (Monte Rei, Benamor, Colina Verde, Quinta de Cima and Quinta de Ria), the historic town of Tavira within easy reach (5 minutes), local amenities and easy access (10 minutes) to beautiful beaches and a wildlife reserve, there is plenty to do.

Our huge landscaped gardens are professionally maintained and floodlit by night, ideal for evening drinks and barbecues. A roof top terrace affords uninterrupted views of the tranquil surrounding countryside; not a high rise in sight. The 50 square metre gated child-safe pool is perfectly accompanied by its poolside bar. Our previous guests, many who have returned, all left glowing reports, praising our warm personal reception with each of our customers and even warmer weather all year around.

In addition to all of this, the vast array of beautiful and rare birds that swoop and cluster in plain sight of Villa Dos Irmaos brings avid bird watchers back time and time again. These include Common waxbill, hoopoe, azure winged magpie, bee eater, little owls, and Sardinian warble. Also on the salt pans near the old fort you can spot spoonbills, flamingo, black winged stilt, great grey shrike, and marsh harriers...to name but a few.

Guestbook comments from the manager

'Best described as a tranquil and idyllic environment along with a very helpful hostess who's extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of Portuguese matters. A fantastic villa and refreshing pool for two very hot weeks. We've enjoyed every minute!'

'We have had a wonderful 7 days here in your beautiful villa. Pool, Gardens & everything has been fabulous! Wish we could stay longer, we would love to come back.'

'The villa was fantastic, I really enjoyed my stay here. I will be definitely coming here again. The pool was the best bit for me!'

"Just to say what a wonderful week we had at your villa Dois Irmaos. The location was stunning, we loved the peace and quiet and yet we were not far from the main town of Tavira and many other places. We also enjoyed the village, the supermarkets were well stocked and very good on prices. We ate at the restaraunt in the village and we enjoyed our evening there very much" C.C.

A lovely holiday haven

  • 5 of 5

I would like to let everyone out there who are looking for a fantastic place to relax and have a wonderful time look no further than this villa. It's setting is quiet and private, the pool is a great size and cleaned regularly. And the wonderful Lizzie is next door to help with anything you need. I can not give her or the villa anything other than a fantastic 10 out of 10. We have just booked with Lizzie for our holiday this year and can't wait.

Thanks Lizzie from and my family x

Maravilhosa moradia, excelente localizaçã

Or in English - 'Wonderful villa, brilliant location!'

This was our second visit to Lizzies' (the owner) properties. The other villa being so close you drive past it and can miss it in the large spacious setting. You are only overlooked by the myriad of bird and wildlife which is so fantastically prolific.

This was a family gathering with brothers and sisters-in-laws joining us for our two week break. The only down side being the weather when we first arrived, remedied by the blazing log fire and electric blankets. That soon cleared up and it was almost too hot, and time to retire to the shady gated poolside. The second BBQ and outside dining area is located here, so pool and pot belly's can be catered for very easily!!

We could have easily stayed in all the time, but older people do keep active these days and nearby and accessible country walks and bird watching excursions, which help to keep the pot belly's in shape, were only interrupted by trips to restock the fridge freezer and the hardship of finding the nice places to eat out - assisted by Lizzies' vast local knowledge of what was on offer in many of the best (not priciest) places to indulge our appetites with the local fresh dishes, prepared to order.

We were so close to Tavira and the local fishing villages we would drive for our morning coffee (errr; and cake!) at a different spot most days.

The only downside was the morning and evening feeding times for the local K9 population, a regular feature in most of the Portuguese countryside, but it was remarkable how soon we were able to check the clocks weren't running slow!

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back again.

Finally a big 'thank you' to Lizzie for making our stay so enjoyable, she has a remarkable sense of humour, but an even better sense of providing comfortable Villa's and setting for holiday makers to relax in.

You may have gathered we highly recommend 'Villa Dois Irmaos' !

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at this lovely villa. The villa was airy, spacious and clean. It had plenty of space for eating outside either sat in the sun or under cover.

Our children absolutely loved the pool and would have quite happily stayed at the villa for the entire holiday. The pool was cleaned daily (so I am told by the kids who were eager to get in there first thing). All our needs and requests were accommodated for and there was no problems with arrival dates or times (some that we looked at would only accept sat change over) the flexibility was brilliant for us. we received a lovely welcome in the local village and taken directly to the villa where we received a guided tour of the lovely villa. Lizzi who lives next door was lovely, very helpful and always there should we have needed her. The village was lovely and we ate in the lovely restaurant/bar a number of nights. The food was lovely and fresh and you could watch it being cooked. It was very child friendly and the staff were lovely.

The local town of Tavira is only a short distance, as was the local Aldi. The beaches were lovely, although a little expensive to rent lounges and umbrellas.

We hired a car which was really useful for us as it meant we could get around easily and visit lots of different beaches etc.

Overall we had a really lovely holiday and we would stay here again.

Fantastic holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We have recently returned from a 10 day stay at 'Villa dois Iramaos'. Well where do I start? The Villa itself is superb spacious, clean and with everything we could need for our stay. The property is down a country track so is secluded and the gated pool is not overlooked by another property. Our host, who lives next door was amazing. Lizzie provided everything we needed and more. She was always on hand to help with anything such as ringing taxis, advice on the area and anything else we required for the Villa, such as a cot for our little one. The garden is beautiful and bird life was spectacular. Just from the Villa we observed- Bee-eaters, Sardinian Warblers, Red-necked Nightjars, Hoopoes,Waxbills, Red-rumped swallows, Little Owls, pallid swifts, Iberian Green woodpecker, Azure winged magpies. Golden Orioles could be heard close by and just down the track a host of other birds could be seen. The area itself is brilliant. We didn't hire a car although most will find this is needed as we did occasionally get a taxi. We hired bikes which were great and a trailer for our daughter from 'Abilio' in Tavira. Walks around the area were great and the village of Santo Estevao is a ten minute stroll away. The village has a fantastic shop which stocks a great range of produce and wine/beer etc. the restaurant the only one in the village "O Forno" is brilliant, excellent food and service and well priced. (Closes on a Wednesday).

Back to the Villa, I would recommend this to anyone we would love to return and the whole family had a great time. A beautiful setting and a beautiful property. And for me a birders paradise without the crowds. I can't thank Lizzie enough, a great host. We hope to be back!

Villa Dois Irmaos F.A.O. SUSY

  • 5 of 5

Having just returned from Dois Irmaos after our 6th visit. I feel I must address the remarks from Susy. We visit Portugal for 4 weeks twice a year. Having stayed in all three villas over these times. We find Dois Irmaos light and airy in the heat with excellent log fires for cooler evenings. The maid service is excellent and unobtrusive, our maid would mop all floors, clean bathrooms and windows and glass doors inside and out each week, with little English she was always polite and friendly.

What can be wrong with PVC sunbeds and covers? As for local dogs barking, perhaps Suzy didn't realise that she was staying in rural Portugal and should stay in a sanitized enclave like Villamura etc. Whatever were you doing Susy to be disturbed by the very people you are complaining about trying to do their job.

PS In case you didn't find, out the owners name is Liz, who is a fluent Portuguese speaking highly intelligent lady.

Review of Villa Dois Irmaos

  • 3 of 5

Having just returned from our holiday at villa Dois Irmaos it is with a heavy heart that i have to comment on the overall shabbiness of the property. We feel that compared to other villas we have stayed in this property could do with a lot of updating. Whilst we appreciate the time restraints on changeover the property did not appear to have been cleaned to a standard we have come to expect with properties that we have previously rented from owners direct. We also did not feel that the property was in any way well-maintained. We had a problem with 3 of the appliances which we did mention to the owner and who to her credit did promise to have these things looked at but did not happen in the two weeks of our stay. We also had a problem with the beds, in fact we did recommend to the owner that she needed to change most of them in the property when we were explaining our change of rooms. We would also like to mention that the poolside furniture was in very poor condition. The description regarding the size of the property and the pool was accurate as was the location, but the noise from the neighbourhood dogs was at times unbearable and we did suffer from lack of sleep because of it. Granted that this is no fault of the owner. Finally i would also like to mention the amount of times we were disturbed without warning. We chose the villa due to its secluded position but were interrupted by the cleaner, Pool person, handyman and the owner herself at times without any prior notice to ourselves. We have previously been given a folder informing us of any dates and times that other people would need to access the property and found this to be of great value. Compared to the price paid in regards to other villas we have rented over the years i am afraid to say that in its present state i could not recommend this property to either family or friends.

Location

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Bird waching is very popular on the nearby Ria Formosa. We have a visiting qualified massage practitoner that we are happy to contact and arrange an appointment should you wish. We have lived in Santo Estevao for 13 years and are well experienced should you require any advice about the area.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beaches are Barril, Fuzeta, Tavira Island and Cabanas, the nearest is approx 5 mins drive. Tavira Island has been voted one of the top 10 in the world for families! All of the beaches are on the 'Ria Formosa' Nature Reserve and are thus very clean with excellent facilities.

The coast can be easily viewed from the villa and a light breeze felt at night.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Faro, approx 30 minutes (25 km's) drive away along a very good quality motorway (IP1). The Spanish border is only 20 minutes away by car.

Seville is an easy drive of 90 minutes.

Lisbon is 3 hours away.

Distances:

The nearest village is Sto Estevao and is 10 mins walk (800 metres) or few mins drive (all quiet country roads). The nearest restaurant 'O Forno' is here along with several small local bars and cafes - all family friendly and reasonably priced.

Further Details:

The local village, Santo Estevao, is within walking distance. There is a very good and well-priced family restaurant called 'O Forno' and it is a favourite of our guests. You can choose from a wide selection of grilled meats, fish and salads. Childrens meals are also available at very reasonable prices: an adult meal is 10 euros and beer is 80 pence a bottle. Good quality Portuguese wine is £5 a bottle.

The village also has two well-stocked local supermarkets, a cash machine and a charming church. During the summer, there are many family-oriented village dances to enjoy.
