Light, bright accommodation furnished to the owners high standards, sleeps 5 in an elegant double room with ample storage coordinating furniture and an en-suite shower room, a spacious twin room with great views, storage and an en-suite shower room, and a single bedroom with a WC and basin. The lower garden terrace has sun loungers ready to enjoy the views of the village below. Discover all that Burgundy has to offer with sites and restaurants a short drive away.

There is much to see and do in this part of France. Within 15 minutes drive is the beautiful Flavigny-sur-Ouzerain, the Roman ruins at Alesia and its new visitor centre. The Château of Bussy Rabutin, the source of the Seine river, great for picnics, and Venarey les Laumes for your everyday needs are all close by. Within 30 minutes are Semur en Auxois, Montbard with fabulous swimming pool complex, The Parc d'Auxois (zoo and adventure park) and the 13C world famous Abbaye de Fontenay. Further a field is historic Dijon, Beaune and Nigloland (theme park). Nearly everyday of the week there are local markets, and no visit to Burgundy would be complete without a wine tasting. A perfect base for exploring the region.

The owners offer a shopping service to make your arrival pain free, and home cooked meals are available made to order by the owner. Enquire about available choices. Also bespoke menus can be created by prior arrangement for you and your family. Fresh bread is baked daily and available for delivery to the window sill.

Free WiFi for you to use.

The owners live in the house next door, they can provide information on all the local attractions, and arrange private wine tastings nearby.

Our younger guests are just as important to us. To make their stay comfortable we have a lovely cot (and a second travel cot is also available) with a new mattress and pretty linens. We also have a high chair, toddlers chairs, Baby-Dan play pen, changing mat, microwave oven, plastic cups and plates, baby listening monitor, step for bathroom, potties and a selection of toys and books for all ages. Bespoke children's meals can be provided by the owners by prior arrangement. A toddler paddling pool is available for hot days for the terrace area. Please ask if you need other specialized equipment provided.

About Sharon MEGRET

Sharon and Gregoire Megret have been living in Burgundy for many years and undertaken several renovation projects. They are proud to offer The Barn (one of three holiday properties they own) for holiday accommodation. Living and working in Burgundy for many years along with their two daughters.

Sharon MEGRET purchased this barn in 2004

Why Sharon MEGRET chose Montbard area

We feel this property offers everything needed for a comfortable 'Home away from home' holiday. When we are looking for a holiday house to use for our family, we look for value for money and above all comfort, and we believe this offers both. Frolois is a superb base for exploring the region and peaceful enough for relaxing and enjoying the view.

What makes this barn unique

We feel The Barn offers stylish interiors and comfort without costing the earth. This peaceful village has picturesque charm with stunning views. Hours can be spent taking in the beautiful surroundings.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We've just had an amazing stay here at the Barn! Thank you so much, Sharon & co for making it so special - every little detail.......the decor, the welcome package, the lovely toiletries. Oh and the Boeuf Bourguignone you cooked for us was just divine! WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

P.S. We would love to come back for a weeks trip next time. Pack light if you have children as everything we needed for our 18 month old son was thought of for us. Truly a treat!

Meticulously restored ancient Barn

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely comfortable place.

Sharon and her husband Grégoire and the 2 girls welcomed we four from New Zealand, with open arms and could not be more genial hosts.Everything we wished for was there and we really enjoyed our stay.Wandering in the quiet lanes, visiting the city or searching for,and swimming in the local waterways, were all enjoyable.Anyone who stays there must try Sharon's delicious cuisine. When we came home late after a long day in the heat we just had to sit back and it arrived...Boeuf bourgignonne was our choice.

You have to see their two kittens...Lucy's babies!!! ......also the many small lizards basking in the heat of the stone cottage.

They have 2 other properties nearby and I imagine they will be just as good.

We wish the family all the very best and would thoroughly

recommend their hospitality.

Lovely gite in a lovely location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at The Barn. It has been painstakingly converted into a beautifully-designed, spacious 3-bedroom living area with all the modern amenities you could need. The availability of British satellite TV is quite nice if you want to wind down before bed, and the WiFi works very well both indoors and out in the garden - enough to stream video to a laptop or tablet quite happily, which we plugged into the TV via an HDMI cable.

It offers absolutely stunning views of the surrounding fields and valleys in the beautiful Cot d'Or region. Waking up to that, and sitting on the terrace having breakfast whilst taking in these views is quite a treat and an extremely welcome change from the usual busy lifestyle back home in England! At night, there is zero noise and zero light. Perfect for a tranquil night's sleep and a wonderful place for a relaxing retreat in the French countryside. We were blessed with lovely hot weather, and yet the thick walls of the building mean it stays remarkably cool inside.

The owners live next door and are extremely helpful. They have a wide knowledge of the area and can always give ideas of things to see and do, as well as help with bookings. There are many beautiful towns, villages, vineyards, and chateaus, and Dijon is always worth a visit for both the historic centre, and the shopping!

Relaxed, peaceful and remote

  • 5 of 5

Clean and comfortable cottage in a remote area. Everything that you need for peace and quiet with history and Vineyards within a few minutes drive. The views are wonderful. Accommodating owners who were helpful but not intrusive. We stayed for a few days rest on way down to Morzine to ski. Would highly recommend and would visit again.

Wonderful!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent Christmas holidays at the barn and absolutely loved it! It is set in a quiet little village which is lovely to walk around and enjoy the local feel but is close enough to many main attractions to easily do little day trips. We have a young daughter and all of the baby equipment was provided right down to the stroller which made packing so much easier. We took full advantage of Sharon's home cooked meals and they were wonderful, especially the local beef bourguignon, yummy home made pizzas and to die for desserts. We also loved the daily fresh out of the oven pastries, still warm, delivered to your windowsill. Sharon and her husband are great hosts, always there to help. There is plenty to do in the area, we particularly enjoyed the inside market in Dijon, the medieval villages of semur en auxois and noyers and the abbey of fontenay is not to be missed. Def plan a visit here, you will not be disappointed!

The Barn

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a great week at the Barn. The hosts were so lovely and very helpful, they even arranged a visit to the local vet for our dogs passport. The Welcome goodies were lovely. The Barn is set in a lovely private garden with great views. We were fortunate to have good weather so took advantage of all the local areas and vineyards to visit. Must see sights to see are Abbey de Fontenay, Flavigny sur Ozerain, Noyers and if you love wine a visit to Beaune, Chablis and Nuit St Georges are a must. The Barn is clean and well equipped for all your needs. Very relaxing break.

A delightful return visit

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Barn two years ago and everything was just as good as we rembered on our second visit. The weather was glorious (again) and Sharon's cooking was excellent. We had a very lazy time and ate and drank far too much. The Barn is very comfortable and well appointed and particularly spacious when there are only two of you in a three bed roomed house. Surrounding countryside is beautiful in all directions and I am sure we'll be back.
