Lovely modern 2 bedroom apartment with terrace, garden and direct access to the communal swimming pools. Equipped and furnished to a very high standard. Suitable for families or couples. Situated on a small peaceful development surrounded by olive groves and national park. The village of Palau Saverdera (1km) offers a small supermarket, butchers, bakers, pharmacy and several restaurants. There is a superb restaurant within 2 minutes walk and large supermarkets a short drive away. Try the local farmers co-operative for locally produced wines and olive oils. The Bay of Roses with its beautiful golden beach is just 5 minutes away offering a huge variety of restaurants, cafes and bars. The area offers something for everyone including the Aqua Brava water park, go-karting, fishing, boat trips, scenic land train rides, butterfly park, horse riding, windsurfing and mini golf. Explore the Salvador Dali Museum in Figueres and the many historic villages in the surrounding area.

We purchased our lovely apartment in 2004. We had spent many years looking for that perfect place that had everything we were looking for to satisfy all the family. We finally found it!

'We had a fantastic holiday. The apartment was lovely, far superior to any similar holiday accommodation we've stayed in before. Clean, stylish, spacious and equipped with all mod cons. Love the luxury bathroom & the ingenious kitchen storage units! There were lots of personal touches, which added to the 'homely' feel. The children were thrilled with the TV! We did lots of sightseeing & loved this part of Spain! Highlights (apart from Aqua Brava!) were Cadaques (what a very special place! And stunning scenery climbing up & over the mountains), Figueres & the Dali museum, the ruins at Empuries & superb beach, and the medieval walled village of Santa Marti. We all enjoyed a bumpy ride on the Roses Express!' - Jill -Aug 14

Good location and value

We arrived to find that the apartment was impeccably clean, with no sign of the previous guests that had apparantly left the place in a state (we were contacted by the owner to advise us that the TV may not be working properly due to the previous guests breaking it). We never watch TV anyway so that wasn't going to be a problem. The kitchen is good and has everything you need. The little private garden was perfect for our little one to play and to have BBQ's in the evening. The garden gate leads to a lawned area with the pool. The pool was a good size, clean and never crowded. Great views of the surrounding mountains, along with easy access to them. The apartment block itself could perhaps do with a little TLC. The render was discoloured and 2 adjacent apartments were obviously not used this season, meaning the gardens had started to get scruffy, One had a 30 foot palm tree in the back garden that needs its lower branches cutting away as they were dead - it looked a bit unsightly from the pool area.

There is no WiFi available at this property. We assumed there would be and we both had a bit of work to do on our laptops. Looking back, it doesn't mention Wifi in the property listing and just it meant that we picked up some data roaming charges. Unfortunately, we had a real issue with the bed. It was very uncomfortable due to it "bowing" in the centre , we could also feel the springs. I looked underneath the mattress at the bed frame which was obviously damaged. A slat was broken and the frame was bowing. Perhaps the previous family had damaged this, but it meant we were getting bad backs by the end of the week.

Overall, We thought that apartment provided good value for money, it was safe and secure for our daughter and the location was perfect - in a quiet area just a short drive away from the beaches as Rosas

Good central location, friendly owner but rather tired and not suitable for children.

Not nearly family friendly enough. The dishwasher smelled of burning and blew the fuse when we used it. The TV died. The owner's contact was unavailable (we never met) and we were told that we could go and buy a replacement TV and sort out the receipt with her! There were plenty of towels and bed linen - however the bed linen was very, very thin and I had to use duvet covers to go under the sheets on all of the beds as the sheets were so thin. The beds were only just serviceable and needed replacing.

The area has a bit of a mosquito problem - like many places in Spain - but there was nothing to deter mosquitoes except a half used citronella pot. There was no insect spray or plug in repellants provided. I know mosquitoes are unavoidable but we were left arriving at an apartment in the evening with lots of buzzing and with nothing to protect ourselves.

Most worrying were the safety failings. The dishwasher was one. There were no covers on plug sockets - including the plug sockets which were right by my sleeping childrens' heads in their bedroom. One plug socket in the kids' bedroom was broken and just had masking tape across it. The patio doors were only secured by a small bolt (although there were electric shutters) and the back gate leading to the pool was broken - we were offered a bike lock as a replacement.

The owner was very friendly and responded politely to my messages. The views from the garden to the hills were nice. The pool was clean and a good size. The restaurant at the end of the road was excellent. Aqua Brava - the water park - and Roses - the resort - both 10 mins drive away were all excellent.
