The villa is detached and in its own private grounds. It has a modern, open plan design and plenty of terraces from which to admire the views of the local mountains and the village of Archez with its 14th century Moorish tower. Situated high above the village, the villa is very private. However, you can walk to the local shops, bars, restaurants and winery, famous for its Archez wine in around 10 minutes. A number of excellent walking routes begin in Archez, with both the Sierra Teijada and the Sierra Almijara National Parks on the doorstep. For those who crave a busier holiday, the coast is only a 20 minute drive away. The pool area has been tastefully fenced off from the house and terrace making it safer for young children.

The villa has 3 simple bedrooms with ceiling fans and two bathrooms.

An open plan design gives a feeling of space.

Marble floors and white walls keep the villa cool in summer whilst there is a log burner for cooler nights.

About the Owner

We bought the villa 12 years ago as a second home, and have been renting it for the past 9 summers, we have many repeat guests who have also fallen in love with beautiful Archez. We particularly like the area, as we like to be within reach of the coast, but also part of a traditional Spanish village. Whilst you need a car to get from the airport to the villa, and to visit the beaches, you can easily have 'car free' days by making use of the local shops, restaurants and bars. We fenced off the pool when our daughter was born, and purchased a cot, highchair, toys etc so the villa is suitable for families with young children.

Special interest holidays:

Local walking guides can be arranged to fully explore the local national parks and Maroma Mountain, visible from the house. Details on local walks and maps are contained in the villa.


The nearest beach is at Algarobbo Costa approx 20 minutes drive away. There are also good beaches at Nerja 40 mins drive, Maro 40 minutes drive, Canuelo 1 hour drive and Torrox, 30 mins drive. Torremolinos and Benalamadena 1 hour away. Water park 25 minutes drive away. Hypermarket and shopping centre 25 minutes away.


Nearest airport is Malaga 1 hour away. It is also possible to fly from Granada 2 hours away. Once at the villa a car is optional. Taxis can be booked from the local bars.

There are 3 restaurants in the village all of which you can walk to:

Venta el Curro, a traditional Spanish bbq restaurant with large outside eating area, specials include bbq steaks, aubergines in honey, chicken in Archez wine, and barbecued lamb chops.

Le Pena, a bar/restaurant with typical Spanish food

Bar Almaria, popular for Sunday lunch.

There is also a local bars with tapas. All are within walking distance of the villa - remember to wear flat shoes as the road back up to the villa is steep.

Food and drink is quite cheap in this part of Spain and portions are generous.

There are numerous other restaurants in nearby Canillas and lots of bars and restaurants in Competa, including the renowned El Pilon and which is very popular - book in advance!

Archez and Competa are famous for their sweet wines, almonds, figs, avocados and raisins, all of which you can buy very cheaply. The busy coastal resort of Torre del Mar, which has a water park, hypermarket and indoor shopping complex with food court and cinemas is a 25 min drive away. The popular and lively resort of Nerja, with its famous caves is around 40 mins drive away. For nightlife there is a bar and nightclub in Competa which is a short taxi ride away. The public pool in Canillas also has a bar. It is also possible to visit the Alhambra Palace in Granada in a day - pre-booking of tickets is recommended. If you are flying to/from Malaga, be sure to pop into the city centre - the cathedral and Alcazabar are well worth a visit.

If you would like to make an inquiry, please email us. We are flexible with changeover days. A 30% deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm your booking. The remaining 70% should be settled 4 weeks before departure. Discounts for couples using just the master ensuite bedroom, please enquire.

Changeover Day:
Any changeover day, we are flexible. Arrival after 3pm (you may leave luggage at the house prior to this). Departure 10am.

We trust our guests to look after the villa as if it were their own. We will seek compensation for damage or substantial breakages.
