Apartment in Cabanas de Tavira, Eastern Algarve - Excellent Location Within 3 Minutes Walk Of The Village Centre And The Waterfront

This well equipped, air-conditioned/heated apartment in the Quinta da Gomeira development was completed in Spring 2005 to very high specifications. There are two bedrooms one with a double, one with twin beds. One bedroom has an en-suite shower room. The open plan lounge has satellite (including BBC and ITV) TV, iPod dock/player and unlimited 16Mb internet access. The apartment boasts one of the very best positions on the south edge of the complex, overlooking a toddlers’ play area, with views towards the sea and is fully equipped for a long or short stay. All windows are double glazed and equipped with fly screens and outdoor blinds. Ideally situated in the picturesque fishing village of Cabanas, it is a short stroll from the centre with its numerous café-bars and restaurants serving delicious local fish and other dishes at affordable prices. The local beach has 3km of wide golden sands and is reached via a delightful 2 minute ferry-boat ride across the lagoon (or use our little rowing boat which is for your sole use). Transfers from the airport cost about £10 per person each way, and take about 35 minutes or a friend can provide a "taxi service" for 45 Euros each way.

Please note rentals in the high season are only full weeks from Friday to Friday

About Hugh

Chris and I are both ex-special school teachers who took early retirement in 2006 so that we could spend more time in our apartment in Cabanas. We rent it out to help cover the costs, and now that we are getting to know the area well we leave plenty of information for our guests, so that they don't have to discover everything for themselves. We want them to love the area as much as we do.

Hugh purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Hugh chose Tavira region

Cabanas is in the Eastern Algarve. This area isn't as developed as the more popular resorts in the Central and Western Algarve and it still retains a lot of its Portuguese qualities. There are less fast food outlets and more of the traditional Portuguese family restaurants and bars. Having said that we find it very difficult to practise our halting Portuguese because everyone we meet answers us in English! The local people are so friendly that life is made very easy for visitors.

What makes this apartment unique

We have tried to make the apartment as comfortable as we can, and are always looking for ideas to improve it for guests. The apartment is particularly well positioned in Cabanas and extras include air conditioning in all rooms and a lovely south facing balcony. As extras we have installed wireless internet for the use of clients, so that they can keep up to date with emails etc and we bought a small rowing boat so that the island beaches are accessible even when the ferries are not running.

Had a great time in this lovely apartment, though didn’t spend a lot of time in it. Lots to see and do even though we are not beach people….. Hugh’s guides were excellent – very easy to follow. Apartment was very clean and comfortable for two couples for two weeks. Quiet apartment and resort.Excellent communication with owner and local couple. Plenty of very reasonably priced bars and restaurants. Great beach. Really chilled out. Highly recommended - not for those who want late and loud nightlife.

A very well furnished and clean apartment with everything you need for a perfect holiday

The apartment was excellent in every way, Very clean,very tidy with all the essentials that would be required for a holiday. The apartment was air conditioned and the kitchen stocked with every utensil needed. The location was central with a 5 minute walk to the Sea front and 3 minute walk to the spar. Eating establishments were very close and well priced.

Our stay was 29th July to 5th August 2016,

We have been using Owners direct for the past 4 years and this is by far the best apartment which not only caters for everything you require for a perfect holiday but an apartment which has plenty of space to ensure that a family of 4 is able to holiday without being cramped.

Very good if you have teenage children.

We would definitely use this apartment again.

The Owner had left a very detailed folder of places to eat and things to do.

It is a real shame that I can only rate this with five stars on this review as the apartment is more worthy of 10 stars,

Would have loved to have stayed for 2 weeks and thank you for a lovely week.

Fabulous Family Holiday

The apartment is the perfect base for a family holiday, only a small wander from the centre of the very clean and friendly town. We all thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and will definitely be booking next year and for longer. We have stayed in an apartment in Portugal once before but found we had so much more to do here.

We were busy for the whole 10 days of the holiday but still have so much more we want to do. The husband loved the cycling in the surrounding area and beyond, there are plenty of routes and trails for all abilities. Unfortunately, the fresh cakes, the ice cream, the restauarants, the food from the excellent butchers shop and the wine have meant that despite all his hard work cycling he has still come back heavier than he went!

Our daughter loved the close proximity to the swings, the swimming pools and the beach. The water taxi added extra excitement on the trip to the beach, and the locals were very child-friendly.

We used the trains to go to Taveira and the water parks, they were really easy to use with reliable timetables and the trains were cheap, clean, on time and with plenty of space to sit down. The station is only a short walk away from the apartment, we changed trains at a few stations and indulged in the cakes, coffee and ice cream from the little cafes on the platforms. We will definitely be using the mode of transport in future years, it was a huge improvement on being locked in a hot taxi.

I loved the freedom of the holiday, the apartment is spacious, it had a coffee pot (very important) and a washing machine, It was a small and friendly walk to the shops for healthy fresh produce and wine....lots of wine! We all had plenty of space to do whatever we wanted. Some nights we ate in the well equipped and clean apartment, other nights we ate out. There was no rush to fit around meal times we all just wandered through our holiday happy, content and relaxed with plenty to do. If only the husband could take the October school holidays off work, next year feels a very long way away to be so relaxed and happy

Just what we needed!!!!

The apartment is a home from home with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Really enjoyed our stay & the info pack was very helpful. The guest book reviews helped us decide where to eat & the 4 pools were clean & well kept. For 2 weeks we had a fantastic time chilling & relaxing. Thanks Hugh & Chris, you've got it just right.

Second stay and not the last

This apartment has everything you will need for a fantastic start to your holiday.From the moment you arrive at the apartment you feel totally relaxed which sets you up for your stay in Cabanas. Booking Notes:
Changeover dates are flexible except for July, August and the first part of September when the changeover day is Friday. For stays longer than two weeks prices can be negotiated. The deposit is 20% per holiday with the balance due 8 weeks prior to departure. Internet access, electricity, water and gas are included in the price. For long Autumn/Winter lets the price could be substantially reduced.

Changeover Day:
Flexible except for July to the first part of Sept when changeover day is Friday only. You will be able to use apartment from 3pm on the day of your arrival and are asked to vacate by 10 am on the day of your departure.

Notes on prices:
Prices shown are for the property per week in UK Pounds, but payment may be made in Euros if that is more convenient for you.
Discounts are negotiable for lettings longer than 2 weeks.
The Owners Direct site may automatically ask you to pay via their site, but I do not allow this as they put the price up and take a hefty percentage. You can pay by bank transfer or send me a cheque.

Notes on accommodation: The air-conditioning also doubles as heating or fan and can be set to a specific temperature. The apartment is particularly suitable for young children as it overlooks the play area. 16 Meg unlimited broadband wireless internet access is freely available for any clients wishing to bring their own laptop, iPad etc. Outside: There is a shared swimming pool within sight of the balcony, and a choice of three more similar pools. Parking is available outside the front door. Secure hallway with telephone entry point leads via stairs to the ground floor hall and stairway. A feature of this apartment is the use of a small rowing boat (for 2 people) on the lagoon. It must be stressed that this is entirely at the client's own risk, and that safety equipment (eg bouyancy aids) cannot be provided, but should be brought by the client if required. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Fresh bed linen and bathroom towels are provided every 7 days. Apartment cleaning during your stay is not included in the price. Stewart and Renée are on hand and will help with any problems that may arise. Guests are asked to provide their own towels for the pool and beach. Other: You will be met at the apartment, or the nearby cafe, and shown around by Stewart and/or Renée, who live just opposite the apartment
