Villa in Ceret, Languedoc-Rousillon, Pyrenees Orientales - Close to Town, Riverside Location but well Placed for Access to Local Attractions

The property is located within a 20 minute walk of the centre of Ceret on quiet roads, although there is a supermarket nearby within easy walking distance. The property is ideal for those with children as it is a good distance from main roads and although the river is very close indeed it is not easily accessible for smaller children. The pool is very private and all measures have been taken to ensure the safety of small children. There is a spacious lounging area around the pool with sun loungers provided, plus a separate shaded dining area. The beach is some 30 minutes away by car and should you prefer to visit the mountains, they are a very short drive inland.

About Maria

Karl, my husband and I are a working family with a young son. We are both professional people so we have too little time to enjoy ourselves, spending too much of our time at work. Eventually the plan is to retire to the South of France but unfortunately this is some way away for now. Until that time, we have to enjoy the precious time we have to spare. The house in France is therefore our escape, our sanctuary!

Why Maria chose Vallespir

My husband and I purchased the property in 2002 following a short holiday in the area in June of that year. We liked the area so much we decided immediately we would love to have a second home there and purchased the house in Ceret. We have gradually improved and upgraded the property to the point where we feel very much at home there. The house itself is about 300m from the main road from Ceret to Arles sur Tech and eventually Spain, but at the same time lies in a secluded spot with the river Tech running alongside, hence it has the best of all worlds. We love the mixture of greenery around the area but also the climate more akin to Spain than the northern half of Europe. The long sandy beaches are also no more than 30 minutes away.

What makes this villa unique

The house is now more than just that to us, it is a real 'home from home' with all the facilities and comforts of home, plus lots of sunshine!!! The shops are not too far away, in fact the small LIDL supermarket is very close by. Ceret has many other more individual shops and the large centre of Perpignan is no more than 30 minutes away by car. The property is a great compromise between the countryside and lively towns. The house is also very safe for young children, being quite secluded. The pool is as safe as we can possibly make it, something very important to us particularly having a young child ourselves. We sincerely hope our guests feel the same way about the area and the house, hopefully the feedback we have received confirms that they do.

A charming rustic style farmhouse conversion set in a quiet part of Southern France close to the Pyrenees and Spanish Border.

Children can enjoy the swimming pool in the garden of the property or the nearest beaches at Collioure or Argeles-sur -Mer which are about 25Km by car.

The house is situated in a quiet area, a short distance from the town of Ceret, with a Lidl store close by, so self catering needs are easily and quickly satisfied. it has a good range of food, wine and beer in stock.

The star feature of the property for us was the swimming pool, which we used every day. The pool cover keeping the water warm overnight.

Eating out in Ceret , where there are a choice of restaurants is an adventure, since in this part of Southern France not much English is understood as this is not a tourist town but a place where the local people live and eat out.

A bigger supermarket, Intermarche is to be found in Ceret with a very large range of goods on sale and a petrol filling station.

The accomodation consists of three bedrooms, (two bunk beds in the third room). the bedrooms are reached by a spiral staircase; downstairs is a kitchen , dining room and a living room leading out to the garden for al fresco dining.

My memory of the week was of a peaceful house set in a quiet part of Southern France, near to the autoroute for Perpignan and the Spanish border.

Notes on accommodation: The property has sufficient space for 6 adults plus children and is therefore ideally suited to a family. The property is well equipped for children having a cot and a crib, highchair and a play pen for small children, all provided at no additional cost. A small table and chairs have also been provided for children for eating outside. A stair gate is also provided. Outside: A private swimming pool 8x4m in a walled rear garden, with child proof safety fencing. Spacious (70sqm) private lounging area with sun loungers, plus tables and chairs with sufficient seating for 8+ for outdoor eating. A large brick built barbecue is also provided. The house also has a decent sized garden for kids, safely separated from the pool. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels provided. Cleaning takes place at the beginning and end of your stay, more frequently if required for an additional charge. Other: Separate dining room with highchair.

Ideal accommodation. Really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful views and excellent location. We found it within walking distance to most amenities. The accommodation was comfortable and well looked after and we would definitely book again as the family loved it!
