Country Cottage Near Boscastle

Overview

Property

Updated: 15-Nov-2016
Country Cottage in Treneglos, Nr. Boscastle, Cornwall - The Ideal Retreat In The Beautiful Cornish Countryside

Situated in the unspoilt Parish of Treneglos is Higher Scarsick a working Dairy and Sheep farm which has been farmed by the French Family since the early 1920's. Treneglos is mid way between the towns of Launceston, Bude and Camelford and is a delightful place to spend your holiday surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside yet only a short drive to the wonderful sandy beaches on the North Cornwall Coast and very convenient for the variety of tourist attractions and leisure pursuits Cornwall has to offer. The cottage has been renovated over recent years and has retained many original features, including oak beams, stone inglenooks and a bread oven. Each year we take steps to inprove the cottage so that it is cosy and inviting for all seasons. Step outside to a large garden where you can hear the birds singing and enjoy the stunning views and if you care to take a short walk down the lane there is a small stream which is particularly beautiful in the spring and autumn.

Please ask for your holiday requirements I do try to accommodate where possible

The cottage is located avoiding the continuing road works on the A30 between Launceston and Bodmin, we are constantly hearing of horrendous traffic delays which is not a good start or end to any holiday.

A lovely, well equipped three bedroom cottage.

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely, well equpped three bedroom cottage attached to the farmhouse on a working farm. The owners, Heather and Les, are very friendly and helpful and willing to give tips on places to visit nearby.

We had a lovely week based here as it is ideal for getting around most of Cornwall. Our daughter and her partner came to stay for one night, along with their two dogs, and were very much welcomed by Heather and Les. Though pets are welcomed there is no sign this in the property, which was immaculately clean. There is heating if the weather becomes chilly.

The cottage is quite spacious and extremely well equipped with everything that you may need to a great holiday in this stunningly beautiful part of England. The beds are comfortable and the decor is fresh and in keeping with the property. There is a large garden to the front of the property, with table and chairs for outdoor dining in sunny weather. For the more active visitor, there are walking opportunities right outside the property.

We found that Launceston is easily accessible for any shppping needs; and that acess to the main road networks is fairly easy for those who are used to driving along narrow country roads.

We recommend this property for couples, 4 to six adults sharing, or families.

We hope to stay here again.

Beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage on a working farm. Heather and Les were very welcoming and helpful during our stay. The cottage itself is lovely, very comfortable and extremely clean. The kitchen is new and absolutely gorgeous. My 2 year old loved the countryside and surrounding and seeing cows so close up was amazing to her! Also it was great we could bring our 2 dogs too! Would like to visit again and would highly recommend.

Good location. Very comfortable. Excellent value.

We had a fantastic week in Cornwall at Scarsick. Thank you to Heather and Les who are incredibly welcoming, friendly and quite simply, very nice people. They made some valuable recomendations too e.g. which beaches to visit and where to get a good cornish pasty! The cottage was very comfortable and extremely clean and well presented. The kitchen is brand new and very well equipped. It is a working farm and our young pre-school city boys were very excited about their introduction to farming life! The cottage is in beautiful quiet countryside and is very well positioned for exploring north Cornwall and providing a lovely balance of stunning coastline and pretty coves and beaches, peaceful countryside and a variety of activities for wet weather (swimming/ leisure pool at Bude, animal parks etc) and The Eden Project is also only 1 hour away by car. All in all, a fantastic holiday!

Comfortable clean well equipped rural accommodation with stunning views and and friendly hosts

  • 5 of 5

Myself, partner and 2 dogs spent a couple of nights during May. The cottage has a real charm, with two large original fireplaces and comfortable rooms. Kitchen was very well equipped, everything was clean and ready for our arrival, the bedrooms are spacious and have lovely views across the surrounding countryside. This is a rural cottage, and benefits from being on a working farm so expect some farming activity, but we weren't woken up early or inconvenienced in any way.

It was great to be away from the coastal crowding, but within very easy reach of the coastal areas, as well as the market towns in the area. Although dogs are allowed at this property, there was no doggy smell! The kitchen/dining area are hard floors so dogs can be contained there if they come in wet or dirty.

Lovely walking areas right on the doorstep. Would recommend this property.

Location

From the Owner

With the work continuing on the A30 between Launceston and Bodmin we have been told of horrendous traffic delays. People that have stayed with us recently have told us we are ideally located to explore Cornwall during their stay an are able to avoid the traffic delays on the morning of departure. We are only about 1 hour to Exeter and about 2 hours to Bristol.

Activity and Interests

With the continuing road works on the A30 between Launceston and Bodmin we are constantly hearing of horrendous traffic delays. Our cottage is located to avoid these delays on the morning of departure and to easily tour Cornwall and parts of Devon during your stay. We are about 1 hour to Exeter and 2 hours to Bristol.

Coast/Beach:

The North Cornwall coast is pickled with beautiful sandy beaches and coves. The nearest being Crackington Haven which is a 15min drive. For surfing we recommend Polzeath which is a 45 min drive (Approx)

Travel:

A car is essential for holidaying at Higher Scarsick. However it is 8 miles from the A30 and 3 miles from the A395 making it very accessible for all parts of the country

There is an airport at Newquay and main line Railway Station at Bodmin.
