A place to come back to

This was our third visit to this apartment (5th to Nerja). A really great base for a holiday; comfortable, light and roomy with great views from lovely balcony. Use of pool and only a short walk down to Burriana Beach. We often arrive quite late but were still able to get a meal in the town at 11pm or later - a favourite for us is 'Pinocchios' and we like the Jaipur Indian Restaurant. Just a great slightly up-market place to have a Spanish holiday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The apartment is bright, clean, spacious, well equipped and maintained, with a pool and balcony, and most importantly, comfortable beds! Great swimming, fish restaurants and bars down at the beach which is just a five minute walk away. Nerja is a lovely town, just a fifteen minute walk away and there are lots of other interesting places to visit close-by.

Owner's Response: You will be very welcome back. A lot of Irish people come to Nerja and one of the nicest locations in the town is the Irish Bar/restaurant next to the Balcon, which of course along with good food and atmosphere serves Guiness and Murphys!

Beautiful spot

My husband and I vacationed at this flat in Nerja. It was a beautiful little retreat, just steps away from the Balcon and lovely restaurants and shops. We look forward to our next opportunity to visit.

Beautiful Getaway

This is a great spot for a relaxing getaway. The flat is perfect -- clean, spacious and conveniently located. A very short walk to the beach and all the best spots in Nerja. Highly recommended for couples and families.

Bright and Cheery Flat

Loved our stay in this flat. The location was ideal - 5 minutes walk down to Burriana Beach, a lovely sandy beach with restaurants and fun shopping. 10 minutes walk into the centre of the town where there’s always something going on and a number of restaurants to choose from. The flat itself is clean and bright, nice tiled floors. The kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom looks new - good shower. The bedrooms and living space are comfortable. We appreciated the use of the pull out sofa in the living room when a friend dropped by for a night. WiFi, TV and washing machine all worked well. The hills around are quite steep and probably wouldn’t suit someone with serious mobility issues. All in all, a fun and comfortable holiday and we look forward to visiting again.

From the Owner

Nerja has one of the best all year round climates on the Costa del Sol, lying in a fertile plain between the sea and the Sierra Nevada mountains. Despite inevitable development, Nerja has managed to preserve its ancient centre and its character of a small Andalusian fishing town. Narrow winding streets lead to the palm-lined Balcony of Europe, from which there are lovely panoramic views of the Mediterranean, and a variety of entertainments laid on. The town itself is lively, with a very international atmosphere and many attractive beaches.

The apartment is 5 minutes walk to Burriana Beach, and about 10 minutes to the town, so a car is not necessary.

The nearby Burriana beach is the largest, and we think the nicest, of the Nerja beaches. It is a mixture of shingle and sand, offering a choice of safe paddling, swimming and snorkeling. There are a variety of recreations such as water skiing, paragliding and windsurfing. At the rear of the beach there are seafood restaurants as well as beach bars and shops. One of the many attractions is the paella cooked on an enormous barbecue with fresh seafood every day.

Pretty mountainside villages of Frigilana and Competa amongst others are an easy drive or bus ride. Both have restaurants with spectcular views down to the coast and Nerja. There are many other local places of interest nearby such as the caves at Maro (about 2 kms out of town), an enormous 4 km long cave complex hollowed out about five million years ago and once inhabited by Stone Age hunters. Every summer international ballet and music stars perform in the caves as part of the Festival Cueva de Nerja.

Nerja town is older with more character than other east coast towns and still retains the authentic charm of Andalucia with narrow winding streets leading to the beautiful palm-lined Balcon de Europa with glorious mountain and sea views. Although small enough not to be overwhelmed by tourists, it has a lively international feel with many excellent restaurants, shops and markets. It has most modern conveniences, and excellent very reasonably priced bus services, both local and further afield. Tours of all lengths (both bus and air) can be easily arranged to further afield places of interest such as Granada, Seville, Cordoba, Ronda and Morocco.

Other recommended trips are Comares, an ancient hilltop village, with spectacular 360 degree views.

Antiquera (about 90 minutes drive) has Roman remains and museum and a lovely Parador.

The famous Moorish Palace of the Alhambra in Granada is a must - it is about an hours drive - book in advance to take a tour.

Otivar - also about an hours drive, has spectacular mountain scenery.

Malaga is a lovely city and good shopping centre. As well as the Castle there is the Picasso Museum (he was born in Malaga).

Buses from the centre of Nerja run frequently to most of the nearby towns and cities. Buses to airport (change at Malaga) frequent and VERY reasonably priced - about 6 euros.

From the Owner

We love the flat because being south facing it receives sun throughout the day, making it very light and airy. Large balcony enables you to sit with glass of sangria, or anything else, and watch the world go by. There are views down to the sea. The flat has recently had new tiled floors throughout and a new bathroom. Wi-fi has been installed so you can keep up with your emails, if you want to! The town itself is 5-10 minutes walk away, so a car is not necessary. The apartment is 5 minutes walk from the Burriana Beach. The beach is a mixture of shingle and sand and offers the usual beach entertainments such as water-skiing, para-gliding etc. At the rear of the beach there are beach bars and restaurants, that allow you to dine and drink without changing from swimwear and while your children continue to play in the sand. Daily fresh seafood and paella made over an enormous barbecue on the beach, are on offer in the restaurants and there are free showers, toilets and changing facilities. Shelters and beach beds can be hired.
