The apartment rooms have been tastefully furnished and are well equipped for a comfortable and restful stay. The apartment has an open feel with double glass patio doors leading onto a furnished balcony with views towards the river. The apartment is situated within the Bishops Wharf development and alongside the river Ouse offering a lovely walk or cycle along the waterside to Rowntree Park and beyond. This location is 5 mins walk from the city centre attractions, shops and its many restaurants and bars. Even closer within a 2 min stroll are local convenience shops, take-aways, delis and pubs as well as access to the city wall and the waterfront. There is a good stock of visitor information, a selection of films, music and reading and there are 2 adult bikes available for guests to borrow and enjoy. The apartment comes with secure garaged parking. There will be complimentary treats to welcome guests on arrival. Guests also have free use of wifi internet access.

We're Rob and Rachel, owners of The Apartment in York.

We love York and lived there for a number of years before moving South for work. We still visit York regularly and as often as we can.

Our holiday apartment is perfect for our own needs and we try to make it perfect for others like us - who have similar requirements and tastes.

We always say 'we won't stay anywhere that doesn't look as comfortable as home'. Key things for us are secure parking, internet access, a safe and peaceful location and a comfortable nights sleep. Also the perfect holiday pad needs to be within very easy reach (on foot) of restaurants and shops.

Clean, handy flat

Lovely little flat in a great location. Very handy for the city centre without actually being right in the centre and therefore quite peaceful. Nice bonus to be able to see the river from the balcony and living room. Not too far from the station - we came by train and walked to the flat which took about 15 to 20 mins. Very clean. Very helpful housekeeper who let us in early as our train had arrived. Slightly annoying kitchen layout but as we didn't do much cooking, it wasn't a big issue. Would definitely return and would recommend.

I lived in York for 2 years about 20 years ago and it was wonderful to return.

Personally I love Betty's but some say it's overrated and have had bad service. We went 3 times on this trip! I really couldn't fault it. I also love Cafe Concerto opposite the Minster for excellent cakes in a more informal setting.

I went to a service in the Minster which I found very atmospheric and the choir blew me away. However, I realise it might not be everyone's cup of tea and in fact my husband and son climbed Clifford's Tower while I was there. All 3 of us enjoyed the Railway museum for different reasons.

We had an excellent weekend.

We bought the apartment in 2006 having lived in Bishops Wharf several years previous to this. We knew this was the perfect location so grabbed the opportunity when it came along. The apartment has a real holiday feel about it with it's balcony and views toward the river. It's the perfect holiday location - and it has parking!

Travel:

By Road: York is positioned midway between London and Edinburgh and is just 20 mins from the M1/M62 motorway network enabling the city to be within comfortable travelling time of most regions of the UK.

By Rail: York is on the fastest and most efficient train line in Great Britain which links to London in less than 2 hours. Direct links to Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham and much of the national rail network means that York is easily accessible by rail from most major cities in Britain.

Changeover Day:
Preferred changeover days are Fridays. We also offer short breaks (outside of peak season dates) from Friday (3 nights) and from Mondays (4 nights).

Notes on prices:
The nightly rates shown on the Owners Direct website are not accurate - please submit an enquiry or contact us directly for a definite quote for a short break. Generally outside of school holidays the short breaks rates are between £350 and £395 depending on the number of people staying and exact dates. Our short breaks generally run from Fridays for 3 nights and from Mondays for 4 nights. The weekly rates on the Owners Direct website are correct.

Our prices are inclusive of bed linen, towels, electricity, Wifi and Parking. The only additional costs are a transaction fee if paying by credit card or Paypal or by bank transfer from overseas. A late arrival fee may apply to arrivals late into the evening.

The location of the apartment couldn't be better. It's close enough to get anywhere in central York on foot, yet far enough away for peace and quiet when not enjoying the sights. All the local shops you need including a great butchers, delis, cafes and friendly pubs are just 2 minutes walk away. Also on your doorstep is the entrance to the city wall, the riverside for lovely walks and Rowntree Park is about a 10 minute walk along the riverside. The city centre is so close that if you want to shop and visit attractions all day, then come home to rest and walk into town later for dinner it's all very doable on foot. And during your stay you can leave your car safely tucked up in the garage! And, if you absolutely MUST bring work with you then free wifi access is all yours!
