The stay makes the difference because of the BEAUTY OF THE HOUSE and the fact that is nearby the Wildlife Reserve to birdwatch, walk, cycle, fish and horse ride.
The villa is DECORATED with PROVENZAL furniture and is SPOTLESSLY CLEAN; white bedding and perfumed towels; comfortable matresses, and details everywhere that make an unforgettable stay; fountains, joyful colours, and a huge garden with a wonderful porch.

ESTEBAN, Maria´s brother, OENOLOGIST and WINEGROWER, will drive you to discover ANCIENT AND TRADITIONAL WINERIES and vineyards all over the area.
The privileged location provides us with the possibility of taking you around the three appellations WITHOUT DRIVING LONG DISTANCES.
TEMPRANILLO OR TINTA DE TORO has been the primary grape grown in the region, and because it is thick-skinned and potent is an early-ripening grape, which means to be character-filled wines noted for their colour, strength, and jammy flavours.
The city of Toro sits high above the banks of the Duero river and it is well known for its medieval architecture and captivating riverside landscape.
We will drive you through this ancient area stopping by its wineries for a tasting that you will find different and special.

WILDLIFE RESERVE "RIBERAS DE CASTRONUÑO-VEGA DEL DUERO" - THE OASIS
The Wildlife Reserve in CASTRONUÑO has been declared as a PROTECTED NATURAL AREA in 1992. The dam has originated one of the most important WETLANDS in Castile and Leon community. Today, it is an authentic SANCTUARY for wild fauna. As the dam was built, an important REEDBED surface has been created through the years along the right margin of the Duero river with several and DISPERSED LAKES. Numerous waterbird species find here one of the last refuges on migrations; spend winter season and, the most important, carry out reproduction. The presence of several threatened nesting bird species, as it is the case of purple heron or "aguilucho lagunero" increases more the value of this spot.
The "SENDA DE LOS ALMENDROS" ("Almond Trees Path") ROUTE begins in the high part of Castronuño and the sinuous path discovers old black poplars with LIANAS, CLIMBERS AND CLIMATIS that border the river until the dam. From several wooden pointviews eagles, storks and ducks can be seen.
WILD PIGS AND FOXES can be also seen at the sunset running fast along the green pastures and going from the oak forest to the river reedbed.
HEAVEN ON EARTH - AROMATIC PLANTS
The WILDLIFE SANCTUARY protects many Aromatic species. LAVENDER, THYME, ROSEMARY, or CAMOMILA grow all over the vast oak forest land. Spring brings colours, and among the oaks, lavender grow creating a beautiful violet landscape. Perfumes are flowing on the air bringing UNUSUAL FRAGANCES. These are the PLEASURES OF PARADISE ON EARTH, like in the Andalusian tradition.
WATER PARK - AT THE TOP OF A HILL
The water park La Florida del Duero is 1,5 km far from Castronuño and it is in the heart of the Wildlife Reserve and in the top of a hill where the whole Wildlife Reserve is seen. It has two water slides for adults and kids.

María José Celemín Díez purchased this villa in 1900
This property was the house of my grand-mother, who from I have heritaged my Faith in life, so when I restored, I thought I wanted the traveller to be transported into a beautiful place from where they remembered the decoration, details, cleanliness, softy linen, the joyful and cheerful colours, fountains, and the magic of the garden. All my being has put to decorate this house. Her spirit is a blessing for my guests, as the spirit of "The God of Green Valleys" is in the river, in the reedbed, the oak mountains, the black poplars that border the river as a jungle with clematis. At sunset, everything is magic and wild porks and foxes come from the mountain to the reedbed to sleep.
For my guests, is delicious to go to the water park, just in the middle of the reserve, as to visit us to the organic farm and see and try the fresh fruits from trees, like prunes, cherries, apples, pears, and all type of vegetables, as hazelnuts and walnuts. My brother and I, we planted helped by my father when we were kids more than 500 trees and we have been able to make this place into a botanical garden worth seeing. A natural spring waters all the place. Last year, Esteban, my brother, planted 1000 vines of a local variety of grape called "Albillo Real", from which he is making a delicious wine that our guests enjoy to drink.

Experience de real Spain
Beautiful Alamedas is a little gem tucked away in the quiet village of Castronuno. Maria Jose was a wonderful hostess who couldn't do enough to make sure we had a superb holiday. Her care and attention is everywhere in the house which was welcoming and very comfortable. The combination of a special home with Malvasia, a superb gourmet restaurant around the corner, wine tasting, ever changing rural landscapes and the culinary and cultural joys of Toro and Salamanca close by made it the perfect place to experience the real unspoiled Spain. Don't worry about being in the middle of nowhere, Maria will make you feel you are in the centre of the world, she is the best!
Eight Australians wanted to see the real Spain and were drawn to Beautiful Alamedas in Castronuno. The house was beautifully presented in every way and Maria and her family made us feel very special. They gave us advice, told us stories about history, taught us to cook tortillas and educated us on local vineyards and wines. it gave us a wonderful glimpse into Spanish life and culture and we highly recommend this house to everyone. it was a warm and generous experience for us all. We will never forget the joy of staying at this beautiful house.
What a lovely place to spend a few days! The house is spotless, inviting, comfortable, with plenty of space inside and out if you have kids to play and move around. The village is quiet and safe and you can walk everywhere. There is a tourist office/library where you can get free Wi-Fi and plenty of information on activities going on at and around the surrounding villages. A visit to Toro and Salamanca a little further away is a great way of spending the day and learning about the history of Spain while tasting some of the gastronomy of the area, and of course the wine. A bicycle ride around the nature reserve leading the magnificent river is a must. Do bring a picnic and create some unforgettable moments in a beautiful environment. The owner, Maria jose, and her family did more than anybody would expect to make us feel welcome and at home, they are a pleasure to be around. Maria went out of her way to show us around and provided plenty of ideas for excursions and trips. I would highly recommend everybody to experience this part of Spain.
A wonderful peaceful location, the owner and her family are close by, and extremely hospitable without being intrusive. The cakes (breakfast for Spanish, tea for us Brits) were outstanding. The house is spotlessly clean and has a super enclosed courtyard, perfect for eating and relaxing outside. The national park and river are within 5 minutes walk and provide excellent walks and opportunities to observe the wildlife. Best time to go is early morning and evening. Toro, about 15 k from the house, is a lovely town, with supermarket, shops and bars (that have wi-fi, much to the delight of teenagers) I would highly recommend this property.
