Old Stone Village House with Large Pool and Mountain Views. Air con & Wi-Fi

Overview

Property

Updated: 14-Nov-2016
Large 5 bedroom village house situated in a picturesque village in the Cevennes National Park.

The house has everything you need for the ideal holiday with family and friends.

It isn't perfect, but it's comfy, interesting and homely, a bit shabby-chic, evolved rather than interior designed.

The terrace with outdoor sofa's, the large pool and outside covered eating area provide the perfect location for relaxation and al fresco dining.

There are many features to this house that make it special. The house has over 220m2 of living space and 1800m2 of garden and land with amazing views of the Cevennes, France's largest regional park of some 200,000 acres. There is a large kitchen with a family-sized table as well as an outside covered eating area terrace, perfect for entertaining. The master bedroom with en-suite has a large balcony with table/chairs overlooking the garden and mountains. There are many comfortable areas - the large sitting room (42 feet long), a small reading room as well as a second sitting room opening on to the vine terrace and pool. The 15 metre swimming pool is surrounded by a paved terrace and fully fenced with spectacular views. There is also ample parking at the back of the house. Children are very welcome and the house is equipped with a chest full of toys, puzzles as well as satellite television, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning in the bedrooms.

The house is located in the small picturesque village of Monoblet. Within a 3 min walk, there is a baker, post office, bar, a simple French restaurant, children's playground and riding school.

Nearby towns of St. Hippolyte-du-Fort (8 kms) and Anduze (13 kms) have good shopping facilities, open-air markets, cafes, banks, bars, restaurants as well as bike hire. Tennis courts, excellent canoeing, pony-trekking, river swimming and golf are also close by. Other attractions include some splendid caves called Grotte des Demoiselles and a steam train that runs regularly up the valley from Anduze to St. Jean-du-Gard.

The Carmargue, the coast and the larger towns of Nimes, Uzes and Montpellier are about an hour away.

Wonderful place, beautiful house and pool.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with our kids and family friends, what a perfect place for a group of us to holiday together. The rooms were all beautifully appointed and the terrace for barbecuing along with fantastic pool meant all our holiday needs were more than catered for. The local village was ideal for popping to the bakery in the morning and for a sundowner or two in the evening but we really didn't feel much need to leave the house! Would absolutely recommend and hope to visit again.

An oasis in Monoblet

What a glorious stay! This house is perfect for a family holiday. We spent a wonderful time enjoying the pool, having long barbecue lunches and then sleeping like logs in the comfortable beds! We hope to return very soon to this piece of heaven in Monoblet.

Lovely house, lovely village, lovely region. Hadn't been to the Cevennes before and was taken a back by its beauty. Lots to do and see locally. Who knew that bamboo ( La Bambouseraie) could be an attraction!! Further afield Pont du Gard and Montpellier Zoo are well worth trips. The house is as described, with lots of space (and steps!) and well appointed. It was perfect for us - 6 adults and 2 children (under 10). The kids loved the pool, the local wildlife, their bedroom and the swing. The selection of outdoor spaces were ideal for relaxing in; especially when trying to escape the sun and the heat. The restaurant in Monoblet is well worth a visit, as is a daily trip to the boulangerie.

One note:

We were very careful that the main front door was always locked and that we (young and old) paid attention when exiting via that door, as vehicles did travel very fast down the narrow road outside. Maybe a warning sign on the door would be a good idea?

Owner's Response: Dear Andy, Thank you very much for your review and we're delighted you enjoyed your stay and the local area. A note about the front door is in the house information book but a sign on the inside of the door reminding guests to be careful is a good idea. Thank you for your feedback. Kind regards Sarah

The house is beautiful, stylish, spacious and very well equipped. The setting is absolutely gorgeous, with views of the forests and mountains, in a lovely village with great local bakery. The pool is big with a sunny terrace and very plush and comfortable loungers. Highly recommended!

Fabulous stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this fabulous old stone house. The decor is really beautiful, classically french and with every mod con including air con and wi-fi which was much appreciated. The house and gardens are quirky in that it is built against the mountain side so on split levels - this gave a great feeling of space, and provided fantastic and easy accommodation for three families. No one felt on top of each other. The pool is big and great for lots of kids or swimming length. There are wonderful views across the mountains, and also enjoyed the walking to the boulangerie every morning and a visit to the Tabac in the lovely little village of Monoblet. I would highly recommend this property and we hope to book again.
