Pommard is a bustling wine village situated just on the outskirts of the medieval town of Beaune, the heart of the Cote d’Or. Our modern ground floor apartment is located in a beautifully renovated 17th century carriage inn. Chosen for it’s location in one of France’s most famous wine villages, the property adjoins the famous Chateau de Pommard, whose beautifully restored gardens are open to the public. A stay in our apartment, with the boulangerie (bakery), wine bar, café, and restaurants literally steps from the front door, offers a true taste of Burgundian village life. Just two hours from Paris by train, this location is a perfect vacation destination for lovers of wine and the beautiful countryside in which it is produced. And because of proximity to the train station in Beaune (2 miles) and the autoroute (2 miles), Pommard provides an ideal base from which to explore other parts of France and Europe.

About Carolyn and Ken Thompson

Imagine two young, aspiring musicians, growing up 25 miles from one another in the USA. One summer they are each sent to perform in the great concert halls and cathedrals of Europe. They meet and speak to one another for the first time on the steps of Notre Dame de Paris – the beginnings of a life-long love story, with each other, with a way of life, and with France! Since 2005 we have owned this, our second home, in the Burgundian wine village of Pommard. Each year has brought an ever-increasing respect for and connection to the people and culture of this remarkable place, the most celebrated wine region on earth. Our desire to make this property available for others to enjoy was born out of a desire to share our knowledge and love of Burgundy with those who desire a special experience.

Our little corner of Heaven in the Côte de Beaune is the perfect place for you to call home during your stay in Burgundy, for so many reasons: Our guests get to experience life in one of the most beautiful and historic wine villages in the region, yet only 3 kilometers from the bustling town of Beaune, with its Wednesday and Saturday markets, train station, museums, restaurants, shopping, history, and of course, great wine!

What makes this apartment unique

Booking with us is unique in three ways:

First, with your, we are pleased to offer one complementary hour of trip planning consultation from “Your Key to Burgundy,” (www.yourkeytoburgundy.com) our company that specializes in helping clients to design personalized, authentic experiences in Burgundy and beyond.

Second, unlike many holiday rentals in Burgundy, we are fortunate to have property managers who live right in our village, allowing us to provide the highest quality of service for our guests throughout their stay.

Third, there are no hidden charges for cleaning, bed linens and towels, etc. We do collect a security deposit which is fully refunded to you upon inspection of our apartment following your departure.

Additionally, if you live in the United States, you can contact us about making your payment to us directly in US dollars, thereby saving the cost of currency exchange fees.

FOR YOUR COMFORT AND ENJOYMENT: For maximum comfort during cooler months, each room is equipped with individually controlled electric heating. While the thick stone walls and flow-through ventilation provide a naturally cool environment in the summer, fans are also provided. We have provided a telephone with free calls to landlines in Europe and North America, WiFi internet connection, plus a computer and printer for your convenience. A library of novels, cookbooks, and travel information, an assortment of games, and a picnic cooler and blanket are available for your use. Our desire is to ensure that your stay at 3 Clos de Pommard is everything you imagined, and more! Outside: Our small internal courtyard, located just off the main room, is equipped with an outdoor table and six chairs, providing a lovely place to enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine during pleasant weather. For guests staying for two or more weeks, cleaning and fresh linens are provided at the end of each week. Other: The main entrance is just steps from the private gated parking area, with reserved space for one car. Guests may park additional cars close by in the town square. Plus, your front "door to the village" is steps away from the bakery, grocery, and café!

This was our second stay at this wonderful property. First time was in April, 2015. After cramped hotels in Paris and "OK" properties elsewhere in cities and towns, what a wonderful treat to find the roomie comfort of "your" own home in Pommard / Beaune. Fully stocked kitchen for cooking your own meals. Extremely comfortable. Very quiet. Enhances and makes unforgettable any trip to Burgundy. Recommend that you make it your headquarters.

Great location for the perfect Burgundy experience

The perfect place where we had our perfect Burgundy experience. From this location, you can explore on foot the lovely town of Pommard that in spite of its quaint size has ALL the essentials--a great restaurant, cafe, wine shop, patisserie and fromagerie... And, it's so close to Beaune you can even bike there through the vineyards via a special path. You really feel like in Pommard you become a part of the village as you depart from your front door step onto the main street in town, getting to know the locals as you get your daily pain and cafe creme. And, the apartment is spacious with a wonderful kitchen, living room, dining room and two bedrooms, along with the small outdoor patio, and all well-appointed. We were so comfortable. We would definitely do this trip again, staying at sweet 3 Clos de Pommard for sure again. The owners are the best! They truly want to share their love with Burgundy to all who come and are great resources for ANYTHING you want to do in Burgundy.

Wonderful home in a central location in Burgundy

I very much enjoyed my conversations with the property owner Carolyn from our first contact. We corresponded by email and by phone and I felt very comfortable about the property arrangements. Carolyn is a great resource on everything from Travel tips, wineries, food, and sightseeing. The property is perfectly situated in the heart of the Village of Pommard. There is a Bakery with fresh baked Pastries right across the street, a market, a wine bar run by Sabastian whom speaks perfect English and really knows his wines and is a partner in Fanny Sabre Winery up the street, a butcher Shop with awesome Duck pate and meats and cheeses, a great French Restaurant the Clocher, well basically everything you need to enjoy yourself . We were treated like family in Pommard and tasted with at least 12 wineries and met with 5 Winemakers for several hours. this is the property and Village to call home....

Wonderful townhouse, great location!

Our family of 4 had an absolutely splendid 3-night stay at Carolyn and Ken's townhouse in Pommard over the Memorial Day weekend. The townhouse had everything we needed…..all the details were covered, including a nice welcome basket upon arrival. As first time visitors to Burgundy, this was the perfect gateway/sanctuary to explore all the treasures this region has to offer.

Prior to our arrival, Carolyn provided many useful insights about sites, tours, wine tastings, and other things to do in the area. We did many of the things Carolyn recommended and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves: Friday evening dinner at Aupres du Clocher in Pommard, Saturday morning market in Beaune, tour of Fallot Mustard, tour/wine tasting at Joseph Drouhin, great wine store in Pommard (Les Domaines de Pommard), superb Sunday brunch at the Abbaye de la Bussiere, multiple Domaine wine tastings, and the list goes on. Thanks again, Carolyn!

When (not if) we return to Burgundy, we will stay here again. Very highly recommend to anyone!
