Superb Manor House in Secluded Setting with Superb Views and Personal Chef if required.

The Manoir is one of the Algarve’s hidden treasures. Set in 24,000 sq mt of south facing olive groves, woodlands and gardens, this is Portugal at its very best. The private, full size, heated pool, with pretty Portugese tiles, is set into the original walled gardens framed by oleander, fig and cactus. There are shaded pergolas and courtyards to read a book in the shade of an ancient olive tree. The kitchen veranda is shaded with vines and has stunning views across the Algarve hills down towards the coast. The impressive tiled entrance leads into a 20’ Hallway with terracotta tiles, hanging tapestries, medieval lights and high arched ceilings. The comfortable sitting room with its overstuffed sofas and woodburning stove is an ideal treat for 40 winks or a quiet hour with the papers. The six luxurious bedrooms all have contemporary facilities (5 en-suite). There is a separate Dower House with a further bedroom and full facilities. The Manoir is the perfect place for families and friends to get together.

There is housekeeping for 5 mornings included in the cost.

We now offer "in house" cooking - Idalia is a qualified chef and is happy to cook traditional Portuguese or French food at the Manoir for guests at an hourly rate plus ingredients. This has been hugely popular this year!

We had a lovely holiday based at Le Manoir. It is a charming house, full of character, comfortable and spotlessly clean. It was great having a maid. The views are stunning and there are various places to sit and enjoy them in the spacious grounds. The swimming pool is larger than most. The staff who manage the house were all incredibly helpful - we 'mislaid' our key one day and they were there within minutes. I would thoroughly recommend it

Fantastic Villa .....Loved It!

The immediate reaction to the villa is one of wonder! This is a villa in a quiet location with views in the hills and one with a "French" ambiance. The high ceilings, rugs, stone floors and dark wood furniture give a truly homely feel. The pool is a good size for any family ( we were 10) and the accommodation was first class.

We were met by the agent, Bill, who was very helpful and explained the facilities, location and everything you could want to know. The welcome pack of fresh meats and salad were very welcome as too the wine!

The maid service was very discreet but thorough and the guys who looked after the pool were efficient.

There were plenty of books, games for the children, table tennis, badminton. If you are after more for them then the Aquashow water park on the way to Vilamoura is only 20 mins away and should solve any desires for more action.

This was the first time I have taken all my children away for 20 years and it included husbands, grandsons and daughters boyfriends and so the age mix was large but everyone found things to do and we had a very enjoyable stay at Le Manoir. It was comfortable, great location and showed how great The Algave really is!

There are several beaches approx. 15 mins by car including the beautiful Dunas Douradas (Golden Dunes) between Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago.


Faro Airport is 25 mins drive away and car hire is recommended. We can either organise a taxi or recommend a local car rental company based at the airport.


2 mins drive from Local cafe/restaurant at Sao Romao.

5 mins drive to the market town of S.Bras de Alportel and

10 mins drive to the town of Loule with its wonderful market.

The Manoir nestles on a lush, herb covered hillside between the coast and mountains near to the town of Loule and Sao Bras de Alportel in the Central Algarve. This is the secret heart of the Algarve, where wild almond, fig and pomegranate trees grow around the villages, whose simple charms and whitewashed houses give the feeling of having stepped back in time.

Sao Bras has an Intermarche supermarket and a farmers market on Saturdays. There are bars and there are some really good restaurants. The pretty town of Loule with its Medieval castle and historic centre, is close by. The narrow alleys of the old town are full of potters, saddlers and coppersmiths and a covered market selling seafood, fruits and vegetables alongside locally made pottery. On Saturday's the town is vibrant with its market spilling into the surrounding streets and alleyways. A great opportunity to buy sardines, dried fruit and local game. There is a large Continente supermarket – Portugal's answer to Sainsburys!

There are numerous small towns and fishing villages on the coast between Faro and the Spanish border – particularly worth visiting are Olhão, which is well known for its fish market and numerous seafood restaurants, and Tavira – an elegant town on the river Gilao with its roman bridge spanning the water and riverside restaurants. It is only a 40 minute drive to the Spanish border where you can take the ferry across the river for only a few euros.

  • Notes on accommodation: Cot and highchair are provided. One well behaved dog by arrangement. Pool heating is available with prior notice at £150 per week. Outside: The Manoir is set in 24,000 sq meters of gardens and woodland. The large lawned area is framed by fig, oleander and cactus. There is a pizza oven and BBQ set into the old chimney and another BBQ behind the pergola. The full size heated pool is beautifully tiled and set in the original walled garden. The lovely poolside shower is lined with antique Portugese tiles. By the pool is a Pergola with wooden refectory table, chairs and built in seating for an evening gin and tonic or al fresco dining. A large veranda leads to a shady courtyard with an iron settle for reading a book in the shade of an ancient olive tree. There is another lovely terrace with pergola off the kitchen with seating for 10 in the original tiled seating set into the wall with superb views across the Algarve hills down towards the coast. This steps back onto the lawned area. The gardens are a riot of colour at any time of year! Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: We provide bed linen, house and pool towels. Linen and towels are changed weekly. There is domestic help 5 mornings a week. We are happy to organize private dining with a qualified chef! Other: The formal dining room has oak table with seating for 10 and is delightful with coloured Kilims on the floors and antique dressers. The shuttered windows have breathtaking views across the Algarve hills.
