Charming restored cottage for a romantic getaway walking & village swimming poo

Updated: 25-Sep-2016
Cottage in El Burgo,Ronda, Andalucia, - Peaceful Location, all Ameneties Walking Distance, Great Base To Explore and Experience Real Spain

Casa Isabella is a charming old two storey olive presser's village cottage white walled, intrinsically Spanish and lovingly restored to a high standard keeping all its typically original features.

Located in the quiet outskirts of the pretty mountain village of El Burgo, and leading straight into the countryside, within walking distance of all amenities: including village pool and many excellent typically Spanish restaurants and Tapas bars, where you can experience the atmosphere of a truly Andalucian white village.

Casa Isabella upstairs offers two spacious wooden beamed bedrooms with stunning views of the surrounding mountains, one with a large double Spanish antique bed, the other with two comfortable single beds. Adjoining these rooms is the mezzanine lounge where you can sit and enjoy a good book or choose a film to watch.

Downstairs Ronda style terracotta floor tiles run throughout. The bathroom has been restored within keeping with the rest of the house with a large mosaic walk in shower. There is a comfortable sitting room with unique open fire place with a cast iron log burning stove for those cosy winter evenings, a separate dining room seats four.

A converted wooden beamed stable kitchen is fully equipped including large fridge freezer, washing machine, full sized oven and granite work surfaces. As we are both great lovers of cooking and eating we have provided a good selection of cooking utensils including nice china, cutlery and glassware.

Leading out from the kitchen where once the mule was kept is a secluded courtyard sanctuary with its original cobblestone floor, now with various flower filled pot plants and wisteria covered seating area in which to dine or just sit and relax.

The house has been furnished with comfort and character in mind to create a very special atmosphere.

El Burgo is situated in the heart of the National Park of Sierra de las Nieves surrounded by olive and almond groves and area declared a world heritage site by UNESCO and a protected biosphere with a rich variety of flora and fauna providing an oasis of peace and tranquility for a relaxing holiday and a perfect base to explore and enjoy the real Spain.

Restful house

  • 4 of 5

The house was well situated in the village. An easy walk to the bars etc. the courtyard garden was an excellent space for eating outside out of the hot sunshine. The only down side was the lack of views from the courtyard or the ground floor.

From the Owner

We love walking and nature and have spent a lot of time in this area and really liked the feel of the village and the local people. We started renting the house in 2005 essentially for walking holidays and for a great base to discover inland Spain and the surrounding areas and for people to really experience a touch of the real Andalucian way of life.

Further Details:

The village of El Burgo shadowed by the sierras, was once the haunt of revered bandit Paso Largos otherwise (big steps). He’s long gone, the soaring eagles and shy Ibex remain in this terrain of the walker, birdwatcher and lover of the quiet life with it's many marked trails from gentle walks to long hikes along the river Turron and its many rock pools.
