About the property

Cottage in El Gastor, Province of Cádiz, Spain - Peaceful Location on a 12-acre Finca, 5 kms from the village of El Gastor

Used as a film set by Belgian TV in November 2005, this cosy cottage is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, commanding breathtaking views from all angles; over the entire lake of Zahara and the surrounding mountains. Situated on the edge of the Grazalema Park, nature lovers will appreciate the abundance of wildlife here, providing birdwatchers with the unique opportunity to see Griffon vultures and many different birds of prey soaring overhead. Whilst the location is secluded, it is not isolated, being the perfect place to unwind and relax. The owner, Mary, also lives on the finca in her own house and, whilst respecting her guests’ privacy, she will be pleased to help with any information or advice. It is just 5 kms from the charming village of El Gastor, one of the famous “pueblos blancos” or white villages of Cadiz, and close to picturesque villages such as Zahara de la Sierra and Grazalema, or larger towns such as Ronda and Jerez.

Notes on accommodation: In the winter, the cottage is heated by a pellet-burning stove in the lounge and electric oil heaters. An internet facility is available. The property is not suitable for very young children since there is a steep drop from the cottage terrace and the pool has no shallow end. The pool is 1.80 metres at the deep end. Outside: The cottage is surrounded by ample terraces with garden furniture, from where the most spectacular sunsets may be seen. Also, just a few metres from the cottage, guests can sit at a picnic bench and admire the panoramic view over the lake and mountains. Sun loungers are available around the private 8x4m filtered swimming pool (weather permitting, open throughout the year) and a pergola by the pool offers shade on hot days. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, towels and swimming pool towels are provided and a weekly cleaning service is included.

Coast/Beach:

The closest beaches are on the Costa del Sol and the Cádiz coast which are approx. a 1½ hour drive by car.

Travel:

The nearest airports are Jerez (60 mins.),Seville (90 mins.), Malaga (90 mins) and Gibraltar (120 mins). Ryanair operates economical flights from both Jerez and Seville. Car hire is essential.

Distances:

Just 5 kms from El Gastor and 25km from Ronda. Jerez 1 hour by car. Cádiz / Seville 1½ hour by car.

Granada - 2½ hours by car.

Further Details:

El Gastor is a traditional village and has several shops including small supermarkets, 2 banks (one with ATM machine), a health centre, 2 restaurants and many tapas bars. In the summer, the local olympic-size swimming pool plus bar/restaurant is open to the general public.

Once you have specified the dates you wish to book, you will receive confirmation that those dates are on hold, pending the receipt of a 30% deposit which will guarantee the booking. The balance is due 6 weeks prior to arrival.

Changeover Day:
Arrivals: between 4.00 pm and 7.00 pm (please advise if you plan to arrive later)
Departures: by 10.30am.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. Extra days will be charged at a pro-rata rate. Rates include a weekly cleaning service, electric oil heating in winter (except pellets which will be charged for separately, if used) and a welcome pack.

A deposit of 25% will be required upon booking. The balance should be settled 6 weeks prior to arrival.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
