Old stone cottage in Orgiva, private pool, Las Alpujarras

This delightful property is situated 5 mins from the traditional market town of Orgiva, the capital of Las Alpujarras. The Cortijo lies amongst centuries old olive groves, originally planted by the Moors. The house enjoys magnificent panoramic views of the surrounding mountains of the Sierra Nevada and is perfect for sun-bathing or yoga. The house is truly idylic in its rural setting and is the perfect base to discover Las Alpujarras, Costa Tropical and the ancient city of Granada. This is a place to be for a totally relaxing and stress free vacation. The cortijo is very light, spacious ,lounge and open kitchen of 35m2 , air conditioning in lounge area, well equipped and traditionally decorated with oak beams and natural terracotta tiled floors, 4 bedrooms , 3 bathrooms , 2 kitchens. The thick walls and insulated roof ensures a cool house in summer and a cosy warm home in winter. Very private Pool for sole use of the guests.

I was born in Paris , spent my life between France and Spain , this house is my countryside house ,my little corner of paradise in south Spain .Art painter and also very interested too in home design.

Why Sybille chose Órgiva

This house is very special I think because full of caracter , it's one of the oldest property in Orgiva ,traditional one storey building with flat roof , dry stones walls of 80 cm thick. .The house is facing the exact orientation South , looking over the river and beautiful mountains and not far at all from any amenities.

What makes this cottage unique

As an unique benefits , I will drive the attention to the fact that this house has stunning views over the mountains , it's so relaxing with any corners and private terraces , an very unusual landscape and architecture full of an unusual charm!!!

The house is beautiful with every comfort and much bigger than it appears in the pictures. The furnishings and decor are to a high standard and are both individual and tasteful.

The house has spectacular views across to the mountains and the terrace adjoining the master bedroom has a large table where you can comfortably sit 6-8 and watch the changing landscape. We loved seeing and hearing the goatherd pass by every evening from this spot.

The owner Sybille was easy to contact and nothing was too much trouble for her.

A versatile and beautiful house in an idyllic setting with a helpful and friendly owner- I hope we can return soon!

Las Alpujarras ,one of the most beautiful , unspoilt , interesting andalucian region , many places to discover , lovely weather although year round. Perfect for relaxing holidays for those who like genuine Mediterranean life style and and to connect with Nature.

The beaches and spectacular cliff scenery of the Costa Tropical are approximately 30 minutes drive away. The water park at Almunecar is 45 minutes. The beaches and Caves of Nerja approximately one hour.

Travel:

Numerous daily flights from most UK airports to Malaga Airport just 2 hrs drive away and where car hire is amongst the cheapest in Europe. Granada airport has recently opened to international flights and is just 1 hour 10 mins drive away. You can fly from Liverpool and Stansted to Granada with Ryanair or from Gatwick to Granada with Monarch. Almeria airport is 2hrs away. It's rumoured that flights commence 2006 with Ryanair Glasgow Granada & Easy Jet London Luton Granada.

Distances:

Granada with its Alhambra Palace, gardens, Moorish Albaicin Quarter and stylish shops is just an hour away. You can fill your own water bottles at the local spa town of Lanjeron. A short drive to the pueblo blanco white villages of Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira in the Sierra Nevada National Park is an essential part of any visit. The coastal resort of Almunecar with its seafront restaurants, shops, weekly market and water park is a 45 minute drive. The caves of Nerja are within an hour.
