House in Alcossebre (Las Fuentes), Costa del Azahar - Spectacular shared pool and only 4 mins walk to beach and other facilities

The house is within the modern exclusive El Paraiso residential development on the first line to the sea and only 4 minutes relaxed walk to Las Fuentes beach. There is a spectacular shared pool with views over the sea and a section for children. The communal grounds are shaded by pine trees and are gloriously free of cars; these are housed in the private underground car park with pedestrian access only yards from the house. Las Fuentes is the quiet and select part of Alcossebre, offering not only the expected restaurants and shops but also stunning walks along the coastal path into the Sierra d'Irta nature park only 10 minutes walk from the house.

About John

My wife and I bought a small flat in Las Fuentes (Alcossebre) in 1997 and have spent 2 or 3 annual holidays there every year. We chose this area because it is not highly developed and the holiday visitors are mostly Spanish. No theme pubs or lager louts! We very much enjoy walks into the nearby Sierra de Irta nature park (5 mins walk from the house). We are also fascinated by the tourist-free interior just a few kilometres inland. Try this when you have had enough of the beach!

Why John chose Costa Azahar

The area of land which is now El Paraiso is between our flat and the nature park along the small coast road. We reserved a plot because it was clearly a superb location and the plans were very attractive, including a feature 'paradise' infinity pool and shady garden with many of the original pine trees. The plot we chose is right over the secure underground car park which is very convenient for shopping etc. Car access is well away from the walkways and pool/garden so it is very safe for children. The house itself has all expected modern facilities including air conditioning and heating.

What makes this house unique

Once you've arrived, you won't have to use a car unless you want to. My experience of most of our visitors is that the car stays in the underground car park. At the house you will not hear any traffic, and quite possibly no people either. I recently bought a large wide-screen telly and we have Sky, but I am sure you will find more enjoyable things to do than sit in front of it.

Coast/Beach:

Las Fuentes beach is 4 minutes walk from the house. Alcossebre beaches are a further 10 minutes walk. All are sandy and slope gently into the water. Facilities such as pedalos and sun loungers with fixed sun umbrellas are available in season. Las Fuentes beach has a popular beach bar serving drinks and food. The coastal path into Sierra d'Irta nature park passes by delightful small cove beaches. The nature park has many walks both on level ground and into the nearby hills.

Travel:

Valencia airport approx. 1 hour 15 mins drive.

Barcelona airport approx. 2 hours 15 mins drive.

Girona (Barcelona) airport approx. 3 hours drive.

Reus (Tarragona) airport approx. 1 hour 15 mins drive.

Alicante airport approx. 3 hours drive.

All airports easily accessible by the motorway AP7 which is about 3 miles from the house.

It is possible to travel from airports to the house by a combination of train and bus but a car is definitely recommended.

Distances:

Beaches, restaurants, supermarkets and Alcossebre centre (with banks, more restaurants, shops and supermarkets) all within walking distance.

By car, visit the historic fortified seaside town of Peniscola (20 mins) and don't miss a trip into the mountainous hinterland (a few miles inland).

Further Details:

There is a large supermarket about 5 mins drive from the house, and smaller supermarkets closer. Las Fuentes Marina (10 mins walk) has a concentration of restaurants. These are predominantly Spanish style but there is one (and fortunately only one) serving 'British' and local food, and offering TV sporting fixtures. Las Fuentes and Alcossebre are unlikely to be favoured by those wanting Benidorm-style facilities and activities.

Alcossebre has the usual town facilities including banks (English spoken) and a walk-in health centre.

Las Fuentes has a GP and dental surgery and a pharmacy. English is spoken and possibly other languages too.

There is a wide promenade for most of the walk between Las Fuentes and Alcossebre.

Very large shared 'infinity' pool in landscaped grassed grounds overlooking the sea with large areas shaded by pine trees. The pool has a lifeguard during pool hours in the holiday months. The secure underground car park allocated space is immediately under the house and accessed by steps next to the garden gate. Utility Room: Outside utility room with shower, wash basin and storage for beach equipment. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The house is cleaned and prepared with laundered linen and towels. Beach towels are not included. Other: Large outdoor terrace area with optional sunshade.
