Spacious Beachfront Penthouse Apartment with beautiful sea views and large pool, in Almerimar. - Largest Pool in Almerimar, Adjacent the Beach, and Close to 3 Golf Courses

Apartment Lujo is a bright & very spacious Luxury Beachfront Penthouse, it has been fitted with everything to make your holiday enjoyable. A large 32" Flatscreen TV with TV + DVD player (DVDs also supplied) and UK TV sits next to the PC. A CD/radio/stereo is also supplied. The lounge looks out over one of the three terraces and then out over the Mediterranean Sea, or in the opposite direction to Lake Victoria and the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. The lounge has two sofas to sit everyone comfortably. The dining area has an extendable dining table with a further sofa bed, that can sleep 2. There is a bedroom downstairs and a bathroom too. Upstairs there are 2 more bedrooms, 2 more bathrooms and a further two terraces. Local people refer to the development by the size of the pool, quite simply the largest in Almerimar, complete with three lifeguards! Beyond the pool it is a short walk to the sea, and alongside it are 4 tennis courts.

I am a Dad of two young girls aged 4 and 1, married to Marianne for 10 years, who loves spending time in the sun. We come to our bolt hole when it is cold and gloomy in the UK and spend time outside in the sunshine, just wish we could spend more time here.

Why Russell Pascoe chose Costa de Almeria

We bought here because it was a quieter, more Spanish area than many other holiday homes in nearby. We didn't want to be in Marbella or Malaga because it was too crowded, noisy, racy, glitzy, full of English etc etc, and this area gave us the chance to escape all of that. Around here, you can eat real Tapas if you want, or actually speak Spanish if you want to try. You don't have to drive far to find fish and chips, or English speaking pubs, but importantly ( to us!) you don't have to and can enjoy the real Spain here. We drive in to the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas and drive through the Orange Groves, through the rural Olive Groves, there is real tranquil beauty around here, full of natural countryside, that really distinguishes this area from other parts of Spain.

Notes on accommodation: The apartment is fitted with both hot and cold air conditioning. There is a travel cot available. There is covered underground parking downstairs with lift access to the apartment. Paddle Tennis rackets are supplied, as well as balls. There is WIFI throughout. Outside: There are three terraces. Main terrace has large table and chairs on it. Master bedroom terrace has two loungers on it. Third terrace has table and two chairs on it. The gardens are communal and are beautifully landscaped, and lead on to the promenade that takes you to the port, or the sea. within the landscaped gardens are the pool and four Paddle tennis courts (rackets and balls supplied). Paddle Tennis is a slightly smaller court than a regular Tennis Court. Utility Room: Washing machine, iron, ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels, beach towels, kitchen towels and sheets are supplied. Cleaning service is an additional cost when you leave of €110 for one week. If you visit for two or more weeks a mid holiday clean holiday at an additional cost - paid locally. Other: Entrance Hall with elegant mirror and coat hooks. Also supplied are beach chairs / loungers if required.

This apartment is definitely not as described on the website. I would never claim it to be Penthouse

On arrival we found the apartment had not been cleaned properly and a pungent smell was evident. The walls had been recently painted but the smell was more of drains than of paint. Both settees were stained and looked well past their best. The washing machine rubber seal was stinking dirty with gunk and old dirty dishcloths still inside the machine. The bath mats were dirty, some of the pillows had evidence of stains, the double mattress also showed signs of stains, no mattress protectors or pillow protectors available. All beach and table tennis equipment which states as "available" on the website was broken and in poor condition . IE sun umbrellas rusty and falling apart on opening, broken table tennis bats and beach mats. Only one tennis bat was in the apartment. Wifi was not working, tv remote was not working, only one English speaking channel available,. upstairs air-conditioning was not working ( 19.00 hrs registered 32 deg in the upstairs bedrooms). The property manager did supply a portable air-con unit on the 3rd day which was so noisy it was like sleeping in a wind tunnel for the rest of the week. 4 holes in the ceiling in the down stairs bathroom which had been plugged up with toilet paper. All this was pointed out to the property manager on arrival who stated "take it up with the owners as I am only the rep, I am out of here" I did speak with the owner and provided photographic evidence to him at his request. The owners response was the smell is a typical Spanish smell and the cleaning in Spain is not up to the UK cleaning standard. The owner also stated he would investigate the other issues and get back to me. I am still waiting for his response. The one star reflects the apartment only. The swimming pool area and local restaurants were excellent. I would not claim this to be a penthouse apartment. it is a third floor apartment with some views from the balconies. Your immediate view is of the apartment block either side of you. This apartment is 3 blocks back from the sea. The 4th floor above houses all the air-con ventilators to which one has no access. A car is essential unless one is prepared to take a daily bus or taxi up to the marina and supermarket which is a brisk 45 minute walk away, longer if you have children. The issues with the apartment and the lack of response from both owner and property manager made the holiday more of an endurance test than a holiday.

Marvellous holidays!

Russel thank you for renting your apartment!. We stayed 2 weeks at the end of July 2014.The apartment is beautiful, spacious, very comfortable, very well equipped. The beds are perfect, ideal terraces for dining and sunbathing down at the top of sight. Each room has its own bathroom and it's perfect with three kids! We had a fabulous holiday with beach and swimming pool, the children were delighted to be able to spend their holidays in the water. The residence is gorgeous with beautiful green spaces to run and play, the beach is just in front of the apartment. The residence is very quiet, without noise because a little out of the city center (car necessary to go to marina and supermarket). The swimmingpool is huge and very well monitored. Almerimar is a beautiful resort, restaurants and bars are very cool, life in Spain is very nice! We spent lot of time on the beach because my husband make spearfishing and we ate barbecued fish on the beach... marvellous! We will give your details to our friends for their next vacation! Soory for my english, i'm french .... ;)

Excellence and peace!

We stayed here with our children for two weeks and had a fab time. The apartment offered everything we were promised, it is really spacious and very light, with loads of outside space, which was nice in the evening with the kids in bed. TV gave us English channels, there is a stereo too, but we were happier on the balcony listening to the waves with a glass of wine! We did say there were plates missing and some chipped, when we first arrived but the owner, Russell, got some new ones sent over immediately. They arrived the same day!

The nearest restaurant is minutes away, and there are others scattered close by, but to get in to the marina is better by car, which we did not have. The owner did forewarn us, if we were just sitting by the pool, and eating in, it would not have mattered though. Our kids really enjoyed the kids play area, and I was pleased that the whole place was fenced in, so nobody could just come walking in, I confidently knew where my kids were the whole time. The pool is lovely, and so is the sea just outside the gate, we stayed in the pool because the kids didn't like the sand so much, and because there were life guards so I knew they were being watched the entire time. I think the sea was definitely warmer than the pool though!

I can't think of any real gripes to put here, we had such a nice time.

My only gripe is I had to come home!

I am grateful you told me about the plates - if we don't get told, we just don't know, here in England, that something needs doing. Also, your comment about the car - as I say in my information pack, we would recommend one, but it is not a necessity. Some people just don't want to move from the pool, some people don't want to rent a car overseas, it really is an individual choice, but I appreciate your comments, and glad that you didn't feel you needed one! I think what you say about the pool is so true, we have young children, and we supervise them constantly, but there is a sense of additional security knowing there are lifeguards there too. We also like the gardens around the pool area, the community have spent a lot of time and money making them look nice. The distance from the apartment to any facilities was a long way and without a car about an hour and half walk, we check this out prior to arrival and was told although car would be ideal not essential, a car is certainly essential as walking with shopping etc in the heat and with children is not ideal. The apartment was in itself clean, but stated a fully equipt kitchen, all the cup had chips in them, and half the plates where missing, which I feel should be one of the basic things dealt with on a regular basis, the showers did not have a great flow of water, it was stated that the apartment had sky tv, well had a sky box but only worked for the two days out of twelve, not great. Note that prices stated on the website are in pounds sterling, and so are any quotes but asked to pay into a Spanish account thus paying more with conversion rates, so making your holiday more expensive. This was only mentioned when money was due to be paid. Overall area, apartment was ok, pool fantastic, and beach over the road, the restaurant once you got to them were excellent. Owner did answer all e-mails with a response.

A lovely apartment with great views

We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment: it's spacious, lovely balconies with nice views, enough bathrooms, enough privacy, calm beaches...you have to see this for yourself!! We can really recommend this place to stay!

The apartment is located on the beachfront. A one minute walk takes you to the water's edge! The beach is never crowded and is a protected nature reserve.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Almeria, 20 minutes drive away.

Flights come in from all across Europe and especially UK. Airlines including easyjet and Ryanair, and all UK charter airlines service the airport. A list of carriers and where they fly from is on our website.

Distances:

The city of Almeria is a 20-30 minute drive away.

The town of Roquetas del Mar is a 10 minute drive away.

The town of El Ejido is a 5 minute drive away.

The Port of Almerimar is a 2 minute drive away.

Further Details:

Almeria boast the hottest and driest climate of all Spain. Even in the winter it is exceptionally mild and often possible to get a tan! So local golfing is popular during the winter months. In the summer the pool and sea have their neverending appeal! There is a restaurant / bar a short walk along the promenade. A further bar is a little further along (both within 5 - 7 minutes walk)

In the Port there are many restaurants and many bars. In short it caters for everyone whilst still remaining a small and quiet port village.
