About the Owner

We live just south of Bristol in a lovely village - and now that our children have all left home it is just us and 2 young, lively dogs! Walking and sailing are some of our interests, and keeping our large garden in check!

My husband works locally, running his building company and I get involved with village life, and playing tennis and singing at Wells Cathedral.

The house was even better than the photographs implied. It's really spacious, clean and modern. View from balcony was lovely. We had a great weekend, only wish we had booked a longer stay! We will definitely book again. We recommend doing the coastal walk (description in folder at the property), and finishing at The Ship for lunch.

Wakehurst is a lovely house and stunning views, Has everything you need, the balcony is glorious, the house is nice and spacious. We love to come back ( Been about 7+ times) and see if anything in the village has changed, but nothing much does, which is perfect. So many nice walks, and lovely creek side pubs. Thank you Charly once again.

Wonderful Accommodation, stunning views

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Wakehurst for a few weeks whilst working in the areas, the property was spotlessly clean, spacious and modern and that is before you are totally mesmerized by the fantastic views across the river.

The pictures on the website do not do the property or area justice, it exceeded all my expectations.

Despite being there over January and February the weather was mild and we sat on the balcony on a number of occasions and watched the sun go down over the river.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside walks (my dog and I particularly loved the woods at the bottom of the road with the tennis courts and park).

The area is close to beaches at Wembury and Mothercombe, that's if you want to venture out of Noss, which I didn't most of the time as the area is so beautiful.

There are three pubs in the area, we were regular patrons at The Ship where we would sit on the terrace having a leisurely drink or meal, the latter has a modern menu beautifully cooked and presented (I recommend the fish and chips), the staff all very friendly.

For shopping there is a small convenience store, butchers and post office over the river (or across it at low tide!) but I recommend a trip to the Riverford Organic Farm Shop just outside Brixton (especially if you intend to BBQ)

Owner's Response: It was really great to receive such a glowing review from you, Denise - I am so glad you loved the house and it's beautiful setting. It does have to be seen to really appreciate the wonderful views, across the water and up the valley - it's a very special place.

From the Owner

We fell in love with Noss Mayo after a short New Year break staying in a cottage there in 2004. It was all we could have wished for, un-spoilt, fantastic walks along the coastal path, beautiful views along the estuary, pottering about in boats, great local pubs to eat out at, and a quiet, gentle pace of life. Having said that, it's only 15 minutes from Plymouth , for a complete contrast, with its new shops and vibrant nautical history, or the wilds of Dartmoor for hours of walking virtually alone. For us, it's less than 2 hours drive from home, and we try and get down as often as we can - just waking up in the morning to silence, is the best tonic there is!

From the Owner

Wakehurst offers modern, spacious accommodation for a family on holiday - the kitchen is well equipped if you want to eat in, and the choice of local pubs to eat out at, is excellent and within walking distance. The large balcony over-looking the village and estuary is the 'icing on the cake' - plenty of room to sit at the table, enjoy a barbeque, and watch the activity below. If the weather is wet (!) there are plenty of games provided, and room to enjoy them. For the more adventurous, there are canoes to take out on the safe, sheltered waters of the estuary, or local boat hire to explore further along the shores.
