It is a 2 bedroom apartment with Wi Fi, situated on the exclusive Atalaya Fase 1 landscaped and gated development of Alhaurin Golf. Located some 5 mins drive away from the smaller Andalucian town of Alhaurin El Grande, 15 mins from the coast and 10 mins from the spectacular located Mijas.

This fully equipped 2 bed-roomed ground floor apartment with patio overlooks the landscaped pool area, for exclusive use of Atalaya residents and guests, and the late Seve Ballesteros designed Alhaurin Golf course.

Situated some 5 mins drive away from the smaller Andalucian town of Alhaurin El Grande and 15 mins drive from the coast at La Cala De Mijas and Fuengirola, this apartment is ideal for the independent holidaymaker who would like a scenic setting as a base to explore Andalucia or just laze around the pool and soak up the Costa Del Sol sun.

The Hotel Alhaurin with tennis courts and a restaurant, La Ventilla, Los Merinos and The Boma restaurants, are all within a short 10-15 minute scenic stroll through Alhaurin Golf.

The Golf Clubhouse restaurant is 200m away

There is a convenience store on site 100m from the apartment stocks most things apart from fresh meat and fish. Please support it.

There is also a popular cafe bar within the nearby BP petrol station on the roundabout.

A car is a good idea to fully explore this spectacular area of Spain (we use Holiday Autos). You can insure the high excess for £40/ year multi trip through the web based insurers insurance4carhire.

There is a bus stop just outside the entrance. 3 busses / day to Mijas Fuengirola Coin.

The well known resorts of Marbella, Puerto Banus, Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Malaga etc are no more than 30 mins away.

For more adventurous, Gibraltar is about 90 mins, Ronda 90 mins, Granada and the Sierra Nevada’s, 2hrs.Seville 3 hrs (easy to stay overnight)

The apartment is cleaned & house linen & towels provided by our on site cleaning service ready for the start of the rental period.

Any additional cleaning, etc required during the rental period can be arranged and paid to our manager Cristina on arrival.

Payment can be made by cheque, online bank transfer or PayPal.

The Owners Direct online payment facility comes with a fraud insurance which is included in their service fee which is added to our rental cost.

For 2017 we have again not increased our prices.

Prices shown are for the property per 7 nights in UK Pounds. Other periods are charged pro-rata.

The Minimum stay is 5 nights.

Long term rentals 4+ weeks is £800 per calendar month plus electricity.

Wi Fi is included in the rental cost please just let us know if you require this at the time of booking since we have to set it up.

There are no specific change over day or arrival times so make the most of cheap mid week flights.

Spring time is very pleasant.

Things to do: The Costa Del Sol is not just as portrayed on the TV program Benidorm ;)

Walking:

Best in Spring or Autumn no so hot, spring especially good for the flowers and greenery.

The 10km linear El Chorro gorge.

40mins drive

A bus takes you back to the your start at the north end.This walk includes the Caminito Del Rey a high level walkway tagged to the cliff side. The walk needs to be booked and can be done on line.

The 2 hr circular walk through the canyon limestone landscapes of El Torcal.

This site has a visitors centre and a café

The 5km linear coast path from La Cala De Mijas

Turn right at the sea towards Marbella

The Sierra de Las Nieves

Entered from Tolox 24km, just follow the road uphill, is like our national parks. There is a restaurant at the top of the hill before entering the park in earnest.

The Sierra de Las Grazalema

Is another natural park to the west of Ronda

At the Alhaurin Golf Club you can enjoy one of the most spectacular golf courses in Spain. It consists of 18 holes par 72, designed by legendary player Severiano Ballesteros and 9-hole par 3, with great views of the Sierra de Mijas and the Mediterranean Sea. The main campus is located on uneven terrain, which gives it great personality, which added to the original design of the great Seve, make it challenging for the good player and great entertainment for the middle and high handicaps. Make 5 pairs hole three par fives and five par fours 8, all quite distinct from each other. Challenging, demanding, original and fun. Throughout these 18 holes you can enjoy the magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.

Our neighbours run a bespoke golf / wine tour Company. They can arrange high end tours with accommodation through to something more personal to suit individual budgets.

House Rules:

Please treat the apartment nice and respect other residents.

It is easier for all concerned if any breakages are replaced locally.

Please look at the community rules.

The main ones being:

Pleas put out rubbish after 20:00. The bins are collected daily and this avoids smells in the heat of the day.

No glassware around the pool for obvious reasons.

Apart from that, just relax in the sun and have a good time!!!

We are at 1000ft above sea level so temperatures are 3deg cooler than on the coast.

This means that generally the air con is only needed for a few hour before bedtime.

We bought the property new with our two friends Tony and Shelagh in 2004 while we were still working. We are now retired and enjoying Spain out of peak season.

Why Richard chose Guadalhorce (Costa del Sol)

We love this area of Spain and as soon as we saw the location we we thought this is the holiday home for us. It is located in the real Spain with so much to explore and do. It is also near to the coast if you want a taste of the sun and sand of tourist Costa Del Sol.

Why not visit in spring, March to June, cheaper flights, the weather is warm and sunny, the countryside is green and all the flowers are out.

What makes this apartment unique

Proximity to the pool for use only by Atalaya residents.

Gated community.

And don't forget golf 200m to club house and 1st T. Bizarrely we don't play!!!

Within a I hrs drive the base at AG provides a variety of fascinating scenery, coastal resorts and inland Andalucian towns and villages to explore.

Just a quick line to thank you and let you know we had a great time staying in your apartment, the photos on your web site don't do the apartment and the surrounding area justice, everything was top notch.

We got lost a little on our way from the airport but somehow managed to find it (think we took a wrong turn when leaving Malaga and ended up at Cartama).

The kids really loved it, my son made some friends which kept him occupied and he had his 10th Birthday while we were there and took him to Tivoli World, he thought it was great, we told him we would leave by midnight, but in fact it was 2:30am. ( I think we forgot to take down his Happy Birthday banner).

My daughter went horse trekking at Ride With Me and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have spread the word to friends and at work since we got back, we would definitely consider coming back as there is lots to explore in the area.

Once again thanks for the rental of your property and hope to do business with you again soon.

Superb Apartment

This was our third visit to this lovely apartment - likely says everything about how highly we rate it! Apartment is clean, well maintained and equipped. It is in a quiet location with superb views, but within easy reach of the coastal towns and all other tourist attractions. Swimming pool is situate right outside and is never too busy. Good restaurants and all other requirements within easy reach. Perfect location if you wish to be away from the more crowded coastal area. We hope to return!

Fantastic apartment

We loved this apartment. We were escorted to the apartment by a lovely helpful lady called Christina who showed us around and answered any questions that we had. The apartment was clean and tidy and had lots of DVD's and books if anyone has time! There is a swimming pool right outside and very few people using it so when we were around it was very peaceful. The location is perfect for walking, cycling or general sightseeing inland but also an easy drive down to the coast. There are a few local restaurants or bars within walking distance and many more in Alhaurin and Mijas. We will definitely return and recommend it to other members of our family and friends. Thanks again

Great Apartment

This was our second time at this apartment and we enjoyed ourselves so much we are coming back again in August 2014.

The swimming pool is right outside the patio and set in beautiful gardens. The apartment is always clean and tidy, with full air conditioning and is very comfortable. It is also in a gated community, with its own parking with a little shop just outside.

If you play golf, the golf course is literally next door. With pretty views of the surrounding hills.

The coast is 15 minutes from the apartment.

It ticks all of our boxes for a relaxing holiday with the option of all the amenities nearby. The kids also love the waterpark in Fuengirola.

Looking forward to coming back for our next holiday.

The nearest beach is the small resort of La Cala De Mijas just 15mins drive away or the larger resort of Fuengirola.

The well known resorts of Marbella, Puerto Banus, Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Malaga, etc are no more than 20-30mins away. Gibraltar is about 90 mins.

Travel:

Distances:

The town of Alhaurin el Grande is only 4Km away, 8€ taxi, and this has all the typical facilities of a small friendly Spanish town, supermarkets, banks, shops, bars & restaurants.

Scenic Mijas and the larger administrative town of Coin is 10 mins away by car.

The spectacular gorge of Ronda is 90 mins, Granada the Alhambra & the Sierra Nevada’s 2hrs.

Further Details:

El Torcal a spectacular area of Karst limestone rock formations, Sierra de Las Nieves, and Carratraca are all Nature Areas and well worth exploring as is Antequera, Alora and the Guadalhorce reservoirs where you can swim and hire padalos. All these are within an easy hours scenic drive.

The Alhaurin Golf Hotel 10 mins walk has a horse riding school and the "come ride with me" stables are not far along the road to Alhaurin El Grande.

For the more adventurous the recently opened high level hiking route through the gorge of El Chorro is 45mins drive. Youtube caminito del ray complete el chorro Malaga neo gopro hero 3 + to see recently re constructed hike route. Don't look at the videos of the old route if you are squeamish

Cancellation:
a. Illness - full refund no mater when if some sort of doctors note is provided
b. Up until 8 weeks before rental - full refund regardless
c. Once the balance has been paid - full refund if we, or the renter, can get another booking. Otherwise it is regarded as a full rental with a "no show". If we get a rental during the "no show" period this will be returned to the original "no show" renter less costs.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
