A new floor in the hall & living/dining areas was put in May 2014 - as well as repainting the living & dining areas and also a new fridge & dining room chairs were added. Internet facilities are available at the house - wireless net (wi-fi).

The house is fully furnished, with a private, secluded patio facing south, BBQ and new patio chairs and table added in spring 2015. The house is ideal for a family vacation. The holiday location for both young families and the older generation! It is only a very short walk to everything Cascais has to offer. Cascais, once a tiny fishing village, is now a thriving, safe, tourist resort with its own yachting marina. There's still a working fishing fleet based in Cascais Bay and fish is still auctioned off to the hotels and restaurants every morning. The historic old town is full of charm and reminiscent of the quaint little fishing village of a bygone era.The nearest beach in the Bay of Cascais is 100m from the house, other beaches on the Cascais/Estoril coast are within easy walking distance. A few mins drive away is the magnificent, spectacular Guincho coastline, with sandy beaches and rocky coves.

Nearest shop is 5 mts away, it has everything you need - should you have a car parking is about 100 mtres away - and has never been a problem. Public transport in Cascais is very good - and cheap! Bicycles are available in the town - free! You just need to leave some identification. Cascais is becoming a very popular and safe holiday destination . Surf lessons and boat/fishing trips can be arranged.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Having seen other reviews on Owners Direct and Trip Advisor, we decided we liked the look and location of the town house and we were not disappointed. The owners, David & Teresa Sutcliffe, had close the property through the winter and carried out extensive upgrading, including complete refitting of both bathrooms and the kitchen to an excellent stand. The property is very well located, close to the centre of Cascais but in a quiet street with a nice, private patio for the odd barbecue. The railway and bus stations and major shopping centre are only 10 minutes walk away with cheap and regular services to Lisbon(40mins by train @ Eu4.20) and Sintra ( similar price and cost depending on route). Cascais is a pleasant town with lots of facilities, shops and restaurants to suit most tastes. We enjoyed it very much and will go again soon. Word of warning - both Lisbon and Sintra are very hilly if you are thinking of walking everywhere (you can always resort to good public transport ortry a tuk-tuk ride for a change!).

Lovely house in a lovely corner

  • 5 of 5

We spent one week in Cascais at David´s home. It is located in the old part of the town and just some minutes to the beach and even less to restaurants and small supermarkets. During our stay we went twice to Lissabon (it takes 45 minutes by train and it´s a nice travel along the coast). Lissabon is really worth it! We also went to Sintra (one our by bus from Cascais) but there are thousands of tourists there. If you want to enter the National Park you should book your entrance tickes in advance in order to avoid long waiting times there. David picked us up at a big hotel in the center of Cascais and showed us around. His home is just 10 min. walk from the station in Cascais in you really do not need a car there. you can get bicycles everywhere and you have good transportation, too. Furthermore, there is no parking space close to Davids house. The old part of the town is really romantic and the Portuguese people are very friendly an honest!!!! There is fresh fish at low cost everywhere, but of cours you can prepare meals in the kitchen of the house. It´s fully equiped. A very nice place which we can recommand for 100%

"A VERY CHARMING HOUSE AND TOWN"

  • 5 of 5

The house was very clean and fully equipped. Situated in the middle of a picturesque town that has 'everything'. Plenty of restaurants and different kind of shops everywhere. It takes some minutes walk to get the train, bus and taxi station. The beautiful Cascais is also a perfect place for artist and people who love culture. Very close to the house you can find the cultural house of the town. The fort of the town, inside of it, you can find some art galleries, a 'Pousada' and restaurant, a second hand bookshop with books in different languages, etc. Outside the fort you can find a huge and robust statue in brons of a man wearing a navy uniform: It represents D. Carlos I King of Portugal (1863-1908). The government placed it there in 2008 in order to celebrate the centenary of his dead. You can find his portrait In the hall of the town museum: a blond-red hair king with big blue eyes. And now, after ten years, these eyes are looking at the horizon. But where? At Monte Storil, Storil, São Jõao ... ? Who knows..

Meanwhile, some people are taking a walk around him, some of them looking fascinated at him, others taking pictures of him. Everyone seems to enjoy life. On the beach some people are playing with a ball barefooted on the sand in the middle of February.

I recommend this property and this town to everyone who wants to experience a Magic holiday!

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to stay. The property is located in the old part of town amongst many narrow cobbled streets and gives a real sense of history. It's also perfect for a beach holiday and getting to the centre of Cascais in no time at all. The property has everything you could need including wifi which kept my teenagers happy

David, the owner, was extremely helpful giving us a tour of the town on our arrival and helping out with information during our stay

We would definitely recommend this property and Cascais

Lovely old house in the Centre of Cascias

  • 5 of 5

We loved our holiday in Cascais and the house was a great place to stay. It’s right in the old part of town, very quiet and traditional, but only a couple of minutes’ walk down to the town beach and the shops and restaurants. There’s also a great local café / minimarket just 20 metres away, which made it all very convenient. The house is old fashioned, but very clean and everything worked – the wifi was a real help. We didn’t have a car, but you probably don’t need one for this town. David was a very reliable and helpful owner, who showed us round, and was available locally for information, and arranging airport transfers etc. We would certainly stay here again.
