One bedroom apartment with shared pool, enjoys both mountain and sea views only 400m from the beautiful Mar Menor blue flag beach. Local amenities include restaurants, bars, cafes, a supermarket, and children’s playgrounds. The Mar de Crystal, Los Belones, La Manga strip and the Cabo De Palos marina are only a few mins away by taxi or bus and offer a wide range of restaurants, bars and shops. The world famous La Manga club is 5 mins drive away and hosts a wide variety of leisure facilities including 3 championship golf courses. Calblanque National Park, which has 3 stunning beaches on the Mediterranean, is just opposite Playa Honda. On the calm Mar Menor, there is a variety of water sports available including sailing, diving, windsurfing, kite surfing, and other activities nearby include tennis, horse riding, go-karting, hiking and cycling. For the more adventurous, jet skis can be hired for a skim around the whole Mar Menor. Boat trips are also available from Thomas Maestre marina.

I live in rainy Scotland with my wife. We both work (too hard), but spend most of our holidays here in Playa Honda, Spain where we like to relax with friends and neighbours, eat at some fabulous restaurants, swim in the Mar Menor, jetski when we're feeling adventurous, sunbathe when we're not and just enjoy the sun, sea and views which are breathtaking.

Location

We love Playa Honda because it is really just a quiet Spanish neighbourhood most of the year, although it certainly livens up in the summer months! There is also a nice mix of Spanish and British people. The beaches here are amazing and unspoilt. There is also everything you need for a really chilled break away from work and all the hassles of normal life. The area is really easy to get to with the airport only a 20 minute drive away. I was wary of driving in Spain when we first came but the roads are better than they are in the UK!

Special interest holidays:

Particularly suitable for either golf, water sports, or horse riding. Additionally, may be of interest to historians or those interested in classical architecture

Coast/Beach:

400m walk and a three minutes to nearest beach on the warm Mar Menor, which will be appreciated by guests in the height of summer! Other beaches on the Mediterranean are a few minutes drive away. Calblanque national park has three amazing beaches (one for nudists) and has coach trips to it in high season and is, literally, across the road from Playa Honda.

Travel:

Murcia airport (St Javier) is 20 minutes away and Alicante is one hour and fifteen minutes. Airport transfers can be arranged at extra cost: St Javier: 35 euros. Alicante: 120 euros.

Distances:

La Manga golf club, La Manga strip, Cabo de Palos and Los Belones are all a few mins drive away. A relatively short drive away is the ancient port of Cartagena and a little further is the Regional Capital of Murcia. Torrevieja is a 45 minute drive away. Calblanque national park is within walking distance and has organised bus trips.

Further Details:

Local supermarket, bars, cafes, restaurants and children's playgrounds are within 2 mins walk of apartment. Welcome packs are available on request at additional cost: Basic: 12 euros, Luxury: 25 euros. A meet and greet service is included in the rental price. A £50 deposit is payable to secure booking. Full payment of balance is then required 8 weeks prior to departure. Additionally, a security deposit of £100/euros is required prior to entry. This is to cover damages/costs for excess cleaning. It will be refunded prior to departure upon satisfactory inspection of the property. Please note that, as the property is on the sixth floor, it is not suitable for children. The owners reserve the right to cancel bookings without prejudice.

The property is just two minutes walk from one of those unspoilt beaches and an equal distance from bars and restaurants in which English is spoken. The apartment is also fully air conditioned which you will really need in the warmer months of June-September. For those who enjoy a more active holiday, you can take advantage of the amazing golf course at the La Manga club. Alternatively, push the boat out and get into the amazing water sports in the area: jet skiing, kayaking, and windsurfing. Just ask for details. The residents in the apartments are terrific. Always welcoming, they make guests feel at home and are a great source of good advice on local markets, where to shop, places to visit or places to eat.
