About the Owner

Hello. Jenny and I moved here from London in 1991 with our young family. We sought space, a beautiful and tranquil setting, a genuine ancient house with a view, no noisy roads nearby but it had to be close to all the facilities we needed. Not that easy to find but we did and here we are nearly 20 years later and never saw anywhere better! It was an all or nothing move. Jenny is now a local councillor. I play in the pottery studio when I get the chance. One of our sons has just married into a French family and other sons have chosen, after university in the UK, to live near here. I guess that's a good endorsement. No photo of us as we don't really come with the gite! But you'll see us around, occasionally by the pool.

Perfect peace

  • 5 of 5

We (us plus kids aged 10 and 7) love this place! The location is perfect - perfectly peaceful yet within easy reach of all amenities. Fantastic pool with amazing views of the hills and a good chance of spotting eagles overhead. Loads of space for the kids to roam in the meadows in complete safety. Nick and Jenny are fabulous hosts - happy to chat about anything, help out with advice on days out but don't invade your privacy at all. We stayed 2 years in a row and will definitely return.

Sauve is a lovely village and the walk in is easy for an evening meal - there are a couple of great restaurants which welcome children.

The house has all that you need for a holiday including fans which were very welcome. The outside space, with bbq, hammock under the shade of a tree and the most amazing views, is unforgettable.

Adam is a keen cyclist and the surrounding hills made for some great rides.

From the Owner

Beautiful meadowland surrounds you in this conservation area giving you space to breath. Barbecue in your own garden or wander across the meadows and play a game of boule Everyday you'll see eagles overhead. But you'll be only 3 minutes drive to supermarkets, restaurants (even closer), and genuine village markets. There's a delightful walk from your gite by gardens and river to the authentic medieval village of Sauve with its many artists and musicians. You'll have complete privacy but Jenny and I are always there to help with any problems you may have from booking a restaurant to punctures to light bulbs.
