Perfect for exclusive rental by extended families or groups of friends alike, everyone will find a corner of our 40 acres to fall in love with. Enjoy the huge garden with orchard, herbs, terraces, BBQ and luxury heated pool that has 13 hours of sun a day. The courtyard is bordered by beautiful 13th century barns and our woods with trails, swings and dens plus our meadows provide fun and interest for all ages. The imposing restored stone farmhouse with its beamed ceilings and pantile roof boasts an environment that is both comfortable and practical. The large kitchen is perfect for cooking up a feast if the BBQ maestro is off duty. If it is your night off, can I recommend you take advantage of the sun setting over the Perron Valley from the south terrace, curl up with a book or game in the reading room or play a gentle game of boule in the courtyard? If you prefer to eat out, there are some restaurants less than 15 minutes away.

About Luke March

Sarah and I live near Salisbury in Wiltshire where since I retired from a career in business I now have non executive roles in health and heritage organisations. With our two sons we rented houses all over France for our annual holidays. Now that they have embarked on their own careers we decided to acquire a property which we could not only use on a more regular basis to share with our friends but which would also be available for others to use.

Why Luke March chose Boussan

We have always admired this area as it is not only peaceful and genuinely French but it also very accessible for communication links to the mountains and the sea, in addition to its closeness to Toulouse and the motorway network.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The farmhouse is just five minutes from Aurignac which has a range of excellent shops and most important of all three boulangeries. The property is very spacious with 7 bedrooms and 4 shower/bath rooms and yet is still comfortable so that it is ideal from our experience for hosting family groups of all ages and for smaller groups. It has a large garden with delightful eating areas and a heated pool, and sits in an area of over 40 acres of fields and woodland. As two bedrooms and a bathroom are situated on the ground floor there is good access for disabled guests. The property now also includes a separate one bedroom converted barn for further guests or helpers.

Coast/Beach:

We have 2 beach lakes nearby: Boulogne Sur Gesse 25 minutes away and Samatan 35 minutes away. They have plenty of sand, picnic areas, swimming and water slides.

Biarritz is 2 hours to the West and Narbonne Plage 2.5 hours to the East.

Travel:

Toulouse is just 50 mins drive and can be accessed by most main UK airports. Pau and Carcassone are 90 mins away.

Use of a car is essential.

House is just 15 mins from motorway exit.

House is also 15 mins from mainline train station.

Distances:

We're are a 50 minutes drive south from Toulouse. It sits on the outskirts of the small farming village of Boussan with views over the Perron Valley and on the gentle foothills of the Pyrenees. The famed medieval town, Aurignac, is a 4 minute drive and offers a healthy mix of food, sport and archaeological remains! Furthermore the road network is excellent, giving us access to the Pyrenees spas and ski resorts within an hour and Lourdes just a little longer.

Further Details:

Families with children - We have a detailed list of the best places to entertain the whole family. The house itself is ready and waiting to welcome children of all ages and their tired parents! There are swings, games and toys galore for younger ones plus basketball, football, badminton, table tennis and local walks and cycle routes in the area. If relaxing by the pool is high on the agenda, there's plenty to keep them occupied.

Cycling and walking - The Tour de France route is never far away and last year was on our doorstep. It is testament to the variety of hills and flat available for the amateur and experienced cyclist alike. We can recommend a number of routes for you to try; ones anchored to market towns, or churches, or bars, or wildlife. The choice is yours! If you envisage a more peaceful holiday then this area is ideal with many marked paths and open countryside to walk. For more of a challenge the beauty of the Pyrenean National Park is only an hour away where you will see eagles, vultures, kites and a variety of mammals in their natural habitat. Birdwatchers need venture no further than the terrace at Esbayles to observe eagles, kites, buzzards and many other species so bring your binoculars.

Food glorious food - The South West is the food hot spot of France and locals more typically eat out for lunch, followed by socialising amongst friends or at eating at home for the evening. Should you not want to slip into this way of life then we can easily guide you to those local restaurants that open at night too. When it suits you to eat at home, you'll have the choice of a farmhouse or an alfresco set up.

Large, well-maintained old farmhouse

We loved the space inside the house with the large, well-equiped kitchen and roomy living/dining area. We also loved the acres of space outdoors on the terraces, around the pool and in the grounds, barns and woods. There's a lovely walk to the nearby town with its local shops, bars, ruined castle & excellent museum. The house is set in rolling Gascon countryside but is also close to the Pyrenees: we would heartily recommend it.

A lovely house in a beautiful secluded location

A lovely Frech house, well maintained and restored. There is plenty of room for a big group and a huge dinning table inside allowing the whole party to enjoy breakfast inside. The bedrooms are all spacious and beds nice and comfortable. In the evening when it got a little cooler the lounge was a great place to sit and relax to enjoy some local wine or unusual local craft beers.

Outside to pool is large and, as a bonus heated. There is a vast garden for the kids to explore and as advertised, we did see a curious deer.

The house is very well equipped with plenty of dinner ware and cutlery, even for a large party. We were told to help ourselves to the abundance of fruit on the surrounding trees and even make apple, pear and plum pies.

The local town has all you need and is easily walkable in under an hour. It has two or three restaurants and a good supermarket.

The communication with the owner was great and Luke answered all questions that we had.

Lovely spacious country house, pool, gardens

We had a great week at Esbayles.The house is lovely - space for all of us, nice big rooms, well equipped and nicely furnished. But not so much that you would worry about having small children to stay, as we did. Plenty of games to keep everyone amused. The outdoor pool is clean and heated, and the setting was quiet with great views. I would definitely recommend thjs for large groups and mixes of families.

A fantastic stay in a beautiful setting

Having stayed here a few times now, it never fails to live up to expectation. A beautiful property in a very peaceful and private location. Group of 10 enjoyed BBQs, relaxing by the pool and great day trips near by (especially white water rafting in Foix). Very easy to get to from Toulouse airport. Would highly recommend staying here. Perfect for families or groups of friends wanting a relaxing holiday. The house has everything you would hope for and more. Will no doubt be going back again.

Excellent holiday in a beautiful setting.

This lovely farmhouse is set in beautiful surrounding. We found it so peaceful, the only sounds we heard were the birds and occasionally the sheep (which we visited up near the castle ruins). The house was really well equipped and had everything we could have needed for our stay and more. We were lucky to have fantastic weather during our holiday and made use of the pool every day. We walked to Aurignac over the fields and through the woods, it took about 50 minutes. We really loved the village and made use of the shops, particularly the boulangerie and fruit and veg shop. One evening, we had takeaway pizzas from the bar near the post office. They were delicious. Other than that, we didn't go to any restaurants as we happy to stay in the farmhouse and bbq! We only did a couple of trips, one was to Foix to go white water rafting which was a great success and good value for money. We would love to visit again some time in the future. Lots of space - an impressive house

The children loved having space to run around and a play room full of toys. The fire made the lounge cosy and the huge table was great for two families to socialise around. Would love to see the place in the summer!
