It has 2 open roof terraces, a large sitting and dining area leading to a garden terrace and a downstairs WC. It is on an exclusive small complex of only 29 elegant villas, spaciously set within lawns with bananas, palms and vines and subtropical plants and flowers, surrounding 2 crystal clear swimming pools. It has a reputation for being the best site in the area. The main pool is 23m long, 8m wide and 1m 50cm deep. It is ideal for the serious swimmer who wants to swim lengths or, as the depth is the same throughout, it is also great for those who wish to play, The childrens pool is shallow and perfect for giving water confidence to little ones.

The villa lies off a quiet road, within a few hundred yards of the sea front. The road is well lit at night and parking is available immediately outside the villa. There is a garden path lined with roses up to the front door, which opens onto a marble floored hall with open plan kitchen and dining area. Beyond this a sofa and armchairs surround a coffee table and there is a TV with DVD. This room opens out, through glass sliding doors, onto a large marble poolside terrace with balustrade and a view of the mountains. This terrace enjoys all the morning sun. Entwining the pillars, bougainvillaea and a grapevine add to the Mediterranean feel. The cane table and 6 comfortable foam and cotton covered chairs are just far enough away from the pools to provide peace. By midday, this terrace has shade. A built in barbecue draws well and is ideal for cooking the locally caught fresh fish or Turkish kebabs.

The villa overlooks well stocked gardens on both sides, where the scents of roses, jasmine and honeysuckle drift by. In the front garden, a lemon tree, which fruits heavily in season, provides the magic ingredient for your gin and tonic. On the terrace you will find 6 full length sun-beds with foam and cotton covered cushions for your use, or you may choose take them and lie near the water to sunbathe on the large paved area beside the pool.

The 2 private roof terraces ensure you have warmth and sunshine all day long.

Ideally situated in a level area between the romantic town of Fethiye and the 4 km long resort of Calis Beach, the villa features being close to the promenade to Fethiye. this is currently being resurfaced, but links to a paved promenade, with cycle lanes and a running track and with cafes along the waters edge. Within a pleasant 12 minute walk in the opposite direction is the centre of Calis Beach. This has s a 4 kilometre sandy beach with views of the islands and with many bars, restaurants and shops. This beach is renowned for its fabulous sunsets.

The villa is within 150m of a bus route and the buses run every 10 minutes, in one direction to the beach and in the opposite direction to Fethiye.

The water taxi runs every half hour from Calis Beach to Fethiye. or you may prefer the pleasant walk along the promenade beside the sea, which takes about a 40 minutes.

The Aqua Park is a 10 minute walk. There is a small supermarket just around the corner, which has long opening hours, and larger ones a 10 minute walk away. There are cafes and restaurants close to the villa, but not within earshot, and also the local market, which is held on a Sunday, just up the road.

There is a large area opposite the complex, which has planning permission for a park and tennis courts.

Within a 10 minute walk is the Colosseum Elite Gym, a smart new gym which is fully equipped with cardiovascular machines including step, rowing and cross trainers. There are also showers available and a sauna. The membership per week is very reasonable.

Hisaronu and Olu Deniz are within a short bus or boat ride. Various boat trips to secluded coves and islands are on offer, with lunch provided on board, from Fethiye quay side. These are very good value. We provide 2 mountain bikes, which are perfect for the flat roads in the immediate area. Ideal for fetching the freshly baked loves of bread which are baked in vast wood-fired ovens, and also with a range of gears capable of letting you enjoy the climbs up into the mountains or drop down to the many secluded beaches if you wish to explore further.

About Diana Elliott

For 34 years my husband Jim and I have lived in the beautiful Blackdown Hills, Devon. My career was in teaching. We now offer Bed and Breakfast in the farmhouse and also we have a tiny cottage which we let. Our guests have the use of our heated swimming pool. This means we work hard to keep the house and outbuildings in good order and also we tend a fruit orchard and a vegetable garden. I enjoy growing flowers for guests' rooms and tending the large area of garden. We keep laying hens and a flock of geese. I have a grey mare called Molly, a spaniel called Georgia and for exercise. We have three children who have now left home to live and work in various cities but return home when they can. When we can, Jim and I enjoy walking over the fields and cycling around the pretty Devonshire lanes.

Diana Elliott purchased this villa in 1995

Why Diana Elliott chose Fethiye

We bought the Turkish villa as the people are very friendly, the sea is warm, and its always sunny. Our villa is only 40 minutes from Dalaman, which can be reached from many UK airports. Calis is a friendly resort where good food and wine can be enjoyed as the sun sets over the sea. Nearby is Olu Deniz, a beautiful protected beach where you can swim in crystal clear waters. Within 250 metres of our villa is the shore line of the Mediterranean. Buses run each way every 10 minutes. The villa has bikes available for those staying to use, great for whizzing into town or nipping along the road for wood fired bread or to reach the local markets as well as for exploring the villages and off road tracks. The Lycian way starts nearby and there are many off road and coastal paths in the area.

What makes this villa unique

Villa Diana is on a small complex, and has two pools within pretty gardens, in a quiet residential area, close to the sea. This complex has a local reputation for being immaculately maintained. Also, we take great pride in keeping the villa in good order both inside and out. The villa is within easy level walking distance, but out of ear shot of restaurants, bars and the sea front. Nearby is the pedestrian/cycle sea front path to Fethiye, and a supermarket which opens for long hours. The main pool is 23 metres long, so big enough to swim proper lengths. We find we are always made to feel welcome by the Turkish people and we love to visit the local market where the range of fresh food, fish, fruit and vegetables is very reasonable. There is plenty of space for sunbathing around the pools or in the garden in front of the villa. The villa has two roof terraces, one for the morning sun and one for the afternoon sun, which afford privacy and are perfect sun traps.

Guestbook comments from the manager

'Our week at Villa Diana was great. We arrived at the Villa at night and we thought the gardens around the pool looked especially pretty as they were all lit up. We found the villa to be immaculate and had everything we needed. Best of all we loved the big pool. It was just right for swimming lengths and the water was always clear and inviting.'

Just thought I would write you a wee message to let you know we had a fabulous time in your holiday home. We loved the house and pool and everything was so clean I have never seen a pool area as beautifully kept. I loved the plants and flowers surrounding the area. Everybody we spoke to were so helpful and friendly.

On a post card...'It is so gorgeous at your villa, the location is beautiful and central for everything, and the villa is very tastefully decorated. Most days we have stayed by the pool in the morning and then we go to the beach in the afternoon. We went on a lovely boat trip around the islands and swam in the turquoise sea into a cave. It is so relaxing, we wish we could stay forever!'

We really enjoyed using the bikes, it made getting around and seeing the real Turkey so much easier. The rides along the sea front and around the coast beside the crystal clear, turquoise waters were just lovely.

We would like to thank you very much for all your help and support and we will certainly keep in touch when arranging future holidays as we definitely want to holiday in the same region/area again, the local people are very friendly and the area is beautiful! thank you again Diana,

Notes on accommodation: Villa Diana is 200m from the sea, and is located between Calis and Fethiye. It is a safe environment for children, as the roads around the villa are quiet. Less than 150m from the villa there is a supermarket, which opens early and stays open until extremely late. There is an aqua park within 250m and a playpark within 500 metres. Walks along the seafront to Calis and also around the bay to Fethiye are exceptionally pleasant and include a running track. We provide 2 high quality mountain bikes for your own use. In high summer, the cooler mornings and evenings are ideal for cycling. The best times for serious walking and cycling are the spring or autumn. Within 200m is the start of the pedestrian/cycle way to Fethiye. The Lycian Way starts in Fethiye, and are many other lovely coastal and mountain walks in the area. In the cooler months the air-conditioning can be switched to blow hot air. The villa has a key entry code and there is a safety deposit box for your own private use. Outside: The villa is set in a peaceful and smart residential part of Calis Beach very near the sea shore. The roads are well paved and lit at night and vehicles can be safely parked outside the villa. The area around the pool, the gardens and lights inside the pool are lit at night. There is a night security attendent and a day time gardener. The garden terrace has a beautiful Turkish mosaic outside light. The large glass topped cane table has 6 well padded cane chairs which are covered with foam and cotton. The barbecue, which works extremely well, is safely built into the outside wall and is fitted with a grill. The childrens pool is hexagonal, 6 metres wide and is shallow to a depth of 0.40m. The large pool is of all one depth (1m 50cm) and is 23 metres in length and 8 metres wide. This makes it ideal for playing games or for serious swimming. There is plenty of room for sunbathing around the pool or in the villa gardens and there is also shade should you prefer it. Utility Room: The washing machine and a clothes line are on the top floor. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. The villa is cleaned through each week, during longer stays. Relaxing fun filled holiday

  • 5 of 5

Four friends and I hired the vila with hopes of a holiday of both relaxation and fun activities. All expectations were met at villa Diana.

The villa itself is comfortable and clean, we were there in very hot weather so would often escape the heat by the pool with icy drinks on the balcony or in the sitting room. The pool is clean and the facilities kept to an incredibly high standard. Each villa owner takes huge pride in keeping the complex looking it's best.

We started our days with early morning runs along the newly refurbished waterfront into Fethiye. One day was spent on a boat, snorkelling and swinging into crystal clear turquoise water and sailing back to shore watching an incredible sunset. Another at Oludeniz by the beach spotting para-gliders off the hill. A highlight was a walk in Kayakoy, walking among ruins of the deserted village before a very indulgent meal at Izela.

Dolphins can be spotted off Calis beach, not a bad sight wilst sipping cocktails. Every evening focussed around the beautiful Turkish cuisine found in Fethiye, either at local restaurants or cooked by us on the BBQ on the balcony.

This was my 3rd visit to villa Diana, and I have another booked in May this year. I would highly recommend a stay here, Fethiye is an authentic Turkish town with many holiday treats to offer, Villa Diana will be your home away from home there.

Wonderful week in Turkey

  • 4 of 5

I had an amazing holiday at Villa Diana Fethiye with a group of five friends in our late 20s. This was my first visit to the area and there was so much to see and do. The villa was great, we enjoyed time around the pool, cooked BBQs and it was close enough to the main town to enjoy meals out. The villa had everything we needed and the host was very helpful with any questions we had. Highlights would be Jimmy's boat tour, Turkish bath experience and Oludeniz beach day. Can't wait to visit again and explore more of the area.

Owner's Response: So pleased you enjoyed your stay. I am very happy to answer any questions, or give information before guests go, as it can help to make them get the most out of their holiday and make the most of their time while there. I agree, there is too much to see and do during one visit so I will be in touch with places for you to visit and things for you to do if you decide to go again.

We had a great holiday staying in this comfortable villa. The location was good and close to local shops. The beach and lots of restaurants were about 15 minutes walk away. The property was clean and tidy and the swimming pool was beautiful and clean. The owner provided good customer service and friendly advice. I would definitely recommend the villa to friends and family. We chose to eat at a different restaurant every night and the food was all great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The resort is very quiet at night which I liked. We enjoyed our holiday a lot.

Fantastic Accomodation

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed for 9 nights in May 2014 and had a fantastic holiday.

The Villa is lovely the pool was the cleanest we have ever stayed at and I have worked in the travel industry for many years and have stayed in lots of different accommodation. The area surrounding the pool was a pleasure to be in with all the beautiful plants and greenery around.

There is lots of supermarkets within a few minutes walk and the weekly market is at the end of the road offering amazing fruit and veg.

So cheap to eat out or cater for yourself whichever you prefer. Great trips you can get a full day boat trip with lunch included for £10 fantastic.

We will definitely return as the local Turkish people made us very welcome. Also met lots of nice holidaymakers who like us were having a great time.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday

Special interest holidays:

As we provide mountain bikes for your use, we also leave details of a beautiful 20k route around the peninsula. In addition, we are able to contact the local cycling club, so that you can join them for cycle rides, of varying lengths, and you could get to know routes in the area.

There is also a local walking group, of which I am a member, who would be delighted to welcome you on one of their walks.

Calis beach is a 10 minute walk. Stretching for 4 km, it's warm waters are ideal for swimming. Local activities include windsurfing, water skiing and snorkeling. Sunbeds and umbrellas are always available. Turtles lay their eggs at the far end of the beach. The wide paved promenade, which borders the sand, is lined with lively cafés, bars and good restaurants offering a range of international fare. This is a great place to enjoy a long cold beer while you watch the sun setting over the islands.

Dalaman is within 40 minutes. Prices for taxis for transfers and car hire are very reasonable and I can arrange these for you. Car hire is not essential.

Daily tours to historic sites are very reasonable and these can also be arranged.

The bus, or Dolmus, stops 150m away or there is a nearby water taxi to Fethiye.

Mountain bikes are included so you can ride to remote beaches. Horse riding or jeep safari are also great ways to enjoy the beautiful, rugged, pine clad mountains and valleys.

Fethiye (3km) Lycian rock tombs, an ancient Greek theatre, Ottoman houses, sarcophagi, museum and parks with fountains. Kaya koy (10km) Abandoned Greek village, set in a beautiful fertile valley high in the mountains. Green Valley (10km) Fish restaurant, where fish is caught from the river running by. Oludeniz (12km) A protected beach and paragliding centre. Saklikent (18km) 2nd longest gorge in Europe.

Ancient sites : Cadianda 24km, Tlos 37km, Pinara 47km, Xanthos 62km and Letoon 67km.

Further Details:

The supermarkets open early, stay open until 10pm and take credit cards. All these have meat and fish for sale, other than pork. There is a pork butcher on the road to Fethiye if you are longing for some bacon and sausages for breakfast.

There are pharmacies near the hospital, just around the corner.

There are many change shops in Calis or Fethiye where it is possible to exchange GBP. It is possible to pay by credit card in many shops and restaurants. The cash machines take GB credit cards.

The villa is very close to the open-air Sunday market selling wonderfully fresh, locally grown fruit and vegetables. Among these are avocados, tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, mangos melons, oranges, grapes and strawberries as well as fresh nuts and ginger, local cheeses and honey, spices and freshly dried fruit. Here also they sell wonderfully soft Turkish towels, Turkish delight, pretty jewellery and gifts to take home, and clothes for all tastes, shapes and sizes!

The terracotta tiled Fethiye fish market is well worth a visit. Here you choose your fish and it is prepared for you so it may be cooked at one of the restaurants within the market. Or you can take it home for the barbecue.

The range of restaurants in the area include Turkish, Greek, Italian and British.

Some include free collection and return to the villa.

The Haram or Turkish baths are a great experience and very reasonable.

A manicure, pedicure and leg waxing for women and the smoothest shave of your life, for men, are essential! These are also extremely good value.

Calis beach has a surf school which offers Kite boarding, Kite and Windsurfing.

Guided walks, including parts of the Lycian Way and jeep safari can be arranged through local companies.

Diving, including padi courses, see Fethiye Elite Dive Centre.

Sea fishing and private yacht charter is available in Fethiye, and Paragliding, Sea Kayaking and banana boats from OluDeniz
