Cottage in Lahos, Nr. Frikes, Ithaca Island, Greece - Peaceful Location yet Close to the Coast.
This simple, whitewashed cottage was built over a hundred years ago. It has been renovated and updated to make a comfortable family home but still retains its old world character with its arched windows, ancient shutters and original wooden ceilings. It is light and airy, with at least 2 windows in each bedroom. Two french doors open onto the sun terrace from the open plan living room and kitchen. The kitchen is has a full cooker and large fridge/freezer. There is also a large shower room containing a washing machine. It is tiled in terracotta throughout.

Just a short line to say how much we enjoyed ourselves at Lahos. The cottage was perfect, the village peaceful and the whole area ideal to have the most relaxing holiday. Every thing we needed was there and the whole place was the better than we could have hoped for.
Thanks. Jack and Carol
We thought that Rhiannon Cottage was good value for money and pleasantly located. Handy for Frikes, which is a fishing village with a few good restaurants - very pleasant. The views from the terrace are very nice and the building has retained a lot of old charm. It was well appointed and made for a comfortable stay. Ithaca is small, beautiful and quiet. If you like this, with good Greek food and pleasant people then you will be happy. If you need organised entertainment, lots of high profile tourist attractions or jet-skis and McDonalds then you will be very disappointed. Doug and Mary Williams.
A delicious stay- hard to tear ourselves away. The cottage and location perfect, thank you so much. I hope we can come back one day. Caroline Webb.
We all loved Rhiannon Cottage and its beautiful setting. We had been looking for the "authentic Greek experience" for some years and definitely found Ithaca to be what we had been hoping for. Reyneke family.
Our fourth visit to Ithaca and our second stay at Rhiannon Cottage. We love its Greek character and simplicity and sitting on the terrace or in the garden in the evening is divine. The Washer family.
4.8 based on 5 holidaymaker reviews
On my first sight of the property from the road it looked a bit tatty but its lovely inside. The bedrooms are of a decent size with wardrobes and cupboards, the beds clean and comfortable with mozzi nets over all of them. The kitchen has all the appliances needed but there is a step down which was a little dangerous as its all tiled in the same colour and both me and my husband fell down it until we put something there to remind us. The bathroom is big with plenty of hot water, a washing machine and a very efficient shower. The sitting out area is peaceful with views of the mountains and the lovely sound of the goat bells clanging. More shade would be welcomed with the removal of the grape vines which encouraged the wasps. The cottage met all our expectations and we were sad to leave it. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family as we've had a fantastic holiday .
A lovely, quiet inland location but close enough to beautiful little beaches (between Frikes and Kioni), shops and tavernas. Rhiannon Cottage is simple, tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. We loved sitting on the terrace gazing at the night sky and listening to the tinkle of the goat bells...our only gripe - 4 nights wasn't long enough!
Quiet and relaxed
We stayed at Rhiannon Cottage for 8 nights in August and enjoyed our holiday thoroughly. Rhiannon Cottage is a traditional house in the hamlet of Lahos on the north island of Ithaki that has been restored with respect to the original architecture. The setting is beautiful with sweeping views of the surrounding landscape and a lovely garden with a shaded patio protected from the wind. The house is cool in the summer because of the thick stone walls and it is furnished simply but comfortably with all essentials.
The closest beaches of Kourvoulia have the most amazing blue green waters and were tropically warm, they are situated on small coves along the coast, with trees rolling to the water edge, and are fantastic for snorkelling. Polis beach, near Stavros, is organised and offers basic food, drinks and canooing but remains quiet with brilliantly clean waters, rich in sealife. There are many other beaches and small places of interest to visit in the north and south islands.
There are shops in Stavros, a few minutes drive away, where you can get fresh groceries and cooking essentials, lots of local produce. There is also a mini market in Frikes and shops in Kioni, both Kioni and Frikes are very beautiful little ports with good restaurants.
We found Ithaki very beautiful and serene, ideal for holiday makers who are looking for relaxation and enjoy exploring places. Rhiannon Cottage was a perfect base to return to after long days out and we had fun evenings relaxing at the terrace playing board games with our kids.
A rural idyll at the foot of a Greek mountain
Just coming down to earth after our 4 weeks in Lahos.
We loved being there and found Rhiannon Cottage was perfect for our needs. We loved the layout and openess of it . Great outside area where we lived except for one day of rains and storm at the beginning.
It was a perfect location for us .
Did not have a car so walked a lot , to Stavros for amazing Butcher and Organic fruit and veg, and everyday to Frikes for Frappe and wifi.
Went up to Exogi very early one morning - amazing place , fabulous views.
We found everything working and the kitchen was great as we don't tend to eat out much.
Large bathroom is also a boon
We loved being at the foot of the mountains and watching he sun go down and the light fade , listening to the Sheep and Goat bells tinkling over a glass of the local wine.
A super holiday
Four of us spent a week at the house and loved it. The situation was quiet but gave good views, especially the delight, for me, of seeing Odusseus' palace on the hillside. The facilities were fine, all clean and well-kept, and everything we needed. The ghekko and the cats were welcome extras. We would happily recommend the house to other people.Older people need to take dare about the step in the main room, as our elderly friend fell down or up it several times. Eating in Phrikes was great and food shopping there and in Stavros all we needed. Wild flowers were an utter delight. It has taken me 65 years to get to Ithaka, and was well worthwaiting for.

The cottage is set in half an acre of olive and almond trees on a winding country lane 5 minutes drive from the village of Stavros and 2 minutes from the tiny fishing port of Frikes. The nearest beach is 4 minutes drive.
Kioni, a "picture postcard" village used by the upmarket holiday companies, is a five minute drive from Frikes.

The small harbour of Frikes is a popular calling in point for yachts but still retains a laid back charm. It has four tavernas, a bar and two small grocers.
