Cottages in La Chapelle Neuve, Nr. Baud, Morbihan, Brittany - Beautiful Countryside, 30 minutes to the Sea

Clistivan is in a very tranquil setting, surrounded by fields, but only 10 minutes walk from the village of La Chapelle Neuve with its shop, bar, etc. There are lovely walks and cycle rides starting from the country lane beside the gite, and rabbits, lizards, butterflies and birds all around. You can admire the magnificent sunsets while having bar-be-ques during the long evenings (an extra hour of sunlight compared to GMT). It is a 5 minute drive from the local town of Baud where there are a good range of shops, supermarkets, a swimming pool, cinema, and restaurants. About the Owner

We have been in France for 14 years and know the area very well. We're married with one son who is studying music at university in Tours. We teach English to French business people and specialise in 'Immersions' where a person comes for a 5 day intensive course and speaks English 12 hours a day! We've joined lots of clubs in the local area: Andrew plays tennis, Lyndsey does theatre, and we've both learnt Breton dancing and African drums!

Great cottage in a gorgeous part of Brittany

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic two week holiday at Clistivan. The cottage was extremely well equipped and comfortable and Lyndsey and Andrew were great hosts. The highlights for us were cycling around Ile-aux-Moines, market day in Vannes and visiting the many lovely beaches in the area.

Rural bliss!

  • 5 of 5

Clistivan provided us with a very happy and comfortable holiday, in a stunning setting, with charming hosts. The views over the fields are stunning, and the location a peaceful and very welcome contrast to city life. However, there is plenty to see and do - we particularly enjoyed our trip to the market at Vannes, and the beautiful beaches at Carnac. We have now visited Clistivan several times and it never disappoints!

Splendid peace and superb hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Clistivan is a lovely hideaway in the gentle rolling hills of Brittany. It's beautiful too and has been very well prepared with everything you need. We had two year old twins and they had a fab time.

Great facilities near by and the beaches are only 30 minute drive and are just GORGEOUS!

Lyndsey and Andrew are lovely hosts and if their son, Charlie is home, ask him for a guitar recital - spectacular.

Home and Away

  • 5 of 5

We had stayed in the North of Brittany for a week before travelling to the South for a further week. So after the hustle and bustle of Dinan/ Dinard we were slightly surprised at the much more isolated setting of Clistivan on the outskirts of the village of La Chapelle Neuve. The village itself had a welcoming patisserie but little else of note. However, the same could not be said of the accommodation. This consisted of a row of three properties with the owners living in the first and we were in the third. The welcome from the owners was exceptional as was the cottage. We were immediately welcomed (even though arriving early), showed around and given the keys.

The property itself had two bedrooms, a large lounge and a really well equipped kitchen. Everything was pristine and the owners were always available should there have been a problem (which there wasn't). At the back of the property was a lawned area with table and chairs looking over a valley. Sweet corn is grown everywhere which adds to the rural scene.

On the third night we were invited into the owners abode for drinks and nibbles. We had a superb evening with home made nibbles and free flowing wine.

We then had some friends visit for three nights for which we were not charged extra and beds were made up.

Although the property was located in a very rural setting there were many hotspots to visit fairly close so giving the best of both worlds.

So to sum up an unreserved hit and one I would highly recommend. In fact it gave us all the comforts of home and all the excitement of being away.

Beautiful country Gite

  • 5 of 5

Really relaxing stay in this beautiful and immaculate country gite. It had everything we needed and more! Lyndsey and Andrew couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely place just to be, and perfectly situated for going out and about in lovely Brittany, and just half an hour from the sea too. We'll be back!

Perfect holiday accomodation

  • 5 of 5

Clistivan was the perfect holiday accommodation for us. We enjoyed the relaxing, comfortable and peaceful surroundings of the cottage which is extremely well stocked with everything you could want for your holiday. It is clean and very well maintained. Most of the time we ate in, enjoying the produce from the local shops and markets (and excellent butcher, recommended by Andrew) and found that the kitchen was very well equipped for our needs. The property is very well situated for access to all the surrounding areas and close to the main autoroute through Brittany. We enjoyed many days to the coast and to several beautiful medieval towns and villages. It is a beautiful area to visit. I can't believe we had never thought to visit before. Andrew and Lyndsay are the perfect hosts with a wealth of knowledge on the surrounding area. For all those who may visit, you won't be disappointed.

Location

From the Owner

We bought this property because of the beautiful view, the tranquility all around, and the fact that it's just a short walk to the village and a 5 minute drive to Baud for supermarkets, cinema, swimming pool. We love the old stone farmhouse and the character of the property. The forests and rivers nearby offer lovely walks or cycle rides and the beach is only half an hour away. We are now fans of kayaking on the Golfe du Morbihan!
