About the property

Villa in Moraira, Costa Blanca, Spain - Peaceful Location 10 mins walk to beach

Los Algarrobos is a unique villa which oozes character. It is set in it's own very private and peaceful grounds with numerous wonderfully secluded sitting areas. The orchard provides guests with the opportunity to pick a variety of fruits. The 10m x5m floodlit pool, the covered BBQ area, bar and the well equipped garden kitchen add to the luxury of this villa. Inside, the villa itself is very spacious with a large living area and a fully modernised kitchen. Air-conditioning in the bedrooms. The wood burning fire in the lounge compliments the central heating making Los Algarrobos a wonderful winter retreat. The villa is situated in one of the most popular areas of Moraira. The nearest beach is only 2 minutes drive away (10 minutes walk) and the location is ideal for shops, supermarkets and visiting the many places of interest.

About Sue &; Andy Bailey

My wife and I live in Bury Lancashire and have both taken early retirement in order to enjoy life to the full.

We are blessed with two daughters and son-in-laws who have at the time of writing provided us with 4 grandchildren.

The villa in Moraira is our home for most of the winter and we spend much of our time there ensuring that it is in prime condition for all our guests.

Sue &; Andy Bailey purchased this villa in 2004

Why Sue &; Andy Bailey chose Moraira

We first fell in love with Moraira in 1997 when we bought a small property in the area. We find the people very friendly and due to the cosmopolitan nature of the residents there is a vast and diverse choice of restaurants.

Due to there only being a small number of hotels, Moraira has managed to retain it's village -type atmosphere while, at the same time, offering lots of activities and places of interest to visit.

Despite the fact that we have been there several years we continue to discover new beaches, coves and fascinating mountain villages where the Spanish way of life has remained unchanged.

What makes this villa unique

One of the best things about the villa is the fact that all the family can come and stay and that we have a child friendly environment for our grandchildren to enjoy.

We also take immense pleasure in our garden and enjoy the peace and seclusion of the different seating areas. Our guests love being able to pick their own fruit from a selection of fig, orange, olive, grapefruit, pomegranate, pear and lime trees. And what better way to enjoy your pre-dinner drink than by picking a fresh lemon to enhance your gin and tonic.

A night-time BBQ or paella prepared in the spacious outdoor kitchen makes a pleasant prelude to the final swim in the floodlit pool.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The property was well presented clean and tidy the beds are a little hard but everything worked grea

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay 4 adults and six children from 11 down to 5 the pool area and kitchen was a complete godsend we only used the lounge in the house in the evening to watch tv and play card games.

You need a car when staying at the property as the walk back up from the village is a bit stressful we found a lovely cove and beech about four miles wet of the roundabout at the bottom of the hill which the kids loved.

There were plenty of laces to eat out in the evenings but we generally stayed at the villa and ate after the children were in bed.

The drive from and to the airport takes about an hour but the directions were spot on and we found the place without any hitches but wouldn't like to try to find the upstairs key pad in the dark the instructions need to have added that you need to open a door before you see the keypad. This is the only complaint and a very minor one at that.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your favourable review. We do receive many compliments about our spacious and well equipped outdoor facilities and bar area. I am sorry that the beds were not to your liking but we have found in the past that the majority of our clients prefers firm beds. We have taken note of the comments you made about the arrival at the house and have amended our instructions accordingly. Regards Andy

Nice property with lots of room and facilities.

  • 4 of 5

The property looks very nice it has plenty of room and good facilities (2 kitchens, one indoor and one outdoor, nice size swimming (very clean) pool with a very good filter system, a nice Permanent BBQ area, television/living room, WIFI, outdoor toilet and shower facility etc.

Unfortunately we did have a lot of problems with the electrical system. The fuses blew regularly, something you don't realy expect nowadays anymore seen the electrical demands of households, especially in this case as it is a proporty for many (4 bedrooms with 4 double beds and and four singles) people. In other words the electrical system could possibly use a modernization. A second minor point was the Wifi bandwith which was very limited, again looking at the large number of people the property could hold and the demand nowadays for internet for phones and tablets etc. Besides that great property in a nice location, would go there again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your positive comments on our home in Moraira. We are so sorry for the electrical problems you encountered. Fortunately We do have a great support team in place and we're able to send an electrician the next working day who diagnosed the problem as a faulty air con unit. He was able to provide a temporary repair to maintain cool air and a new unit was ordered and installed on change over day. We have 4 air con units in the house and this was the newest one and as Sod's law dictates it was just out of warranty. The house had a complete rewire 4 years ago. We accept there is a weakish wi fi signal in the area but Telefonica have assured us that they are updating the line. We have now installed a new wifi system with a minimum of 10 mega bites for the 2018 season. We are glad you would like to return to our home and look forward to receiving your booking despite the hic ups. Regards Andy

faultless - top class facilities

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a perfect family holiday staying in this superb villa. We are regular visitors to Moraira but must put this house at the very top of the list of places to stay many reasons; mainly the outdoor living facilities are superb (love the bar and garden kitchen) and the great location. You can walk to local bars and our favourites Cascada bar and Algas on the sea front - then you won't notice the uphill stroll on the way back! On the plus side - being uphill does mean you get a great sea view from the balconies and what a way to have breakfast; there are so many secluded places to sit, eat and relax - as well as having a fully equipped bar and bbq area to party and socialise.

The villa easily housed 7 adults plus a very excited baby for a week and we all agreed - why go out when there are so many reasons to stay put and live like kings for a week?! (we did go out to the Olive Tree and had Tapas - which is a must).

A massive thank you to our hosts for sharing such a wonderful house and I am sure this will not be the last time we spend our holidays there.

The Slater's, Horton's and Peacocks. xx

The Wow Factor !!!

  • 5 of 5

Not usually in the habit of contributing to websites that ask for reviews but feel I had to add something regarding this fantastic Villa. have just returned last week with family in tow from what was our first villa holiday and hopefully not our last. Andy and Sue were so helpful answering my endless queries via email before our departure - they must have been tired of hearing from me !! Turning to the Villa - it was absolutely out of this world - on opening the gates we all stood back in amazement. Website does not do it justice. Like the previous comments we virtually lived outside for the whole 10 days - around the pool using the outside kitchen/bar/seating area for breakfast, lunch etc (we did venture out some of the time !! - and did not end up hiring a car - Moraira is walkable if a little uphill on the return & used public transport when we visited Altea and Javea.) Villa itself on the short time we were in it was beautiful, clean and comfortable with every home comfort one could expect. Couple of power cuts for only a very short period but again would echo comments of previous review - would rather have that than stay on some purpose built mundane complex!! Thanks to Andy and Sue - hope to visit again.
