San Jaime 172 is a 2 bedroomed first floor end position apartment in the Zone 3 complex of 'baja' (lower) apartments, the zone closest to the Son Bou resort and beach. The SJ172 apartment has a south facing front balcony, with sea views. ideal for dining outside, sunbathing and relaxing in private. There is also a small balcony at the rear of the apartment, off the double bedroom. The complex has its own restaurant, cafe & pool bar with a large rectangular communal swimming pool, children's paddling pool, tennis court and children's play area. The popular 'Club San Jaime' entertainment centre with pools, waterchutes, restaurant, cafe and supermarket & bakery is a short distance away.

About the Owner

Owners Peter and Christine, married with two children and two grand children, are from South London.

We first visited Menorca, which is the quieter of the Balearic Islands, with our young children in the 1980's.

We immediately fell in love with the peaceful island, its friendly people, their culture, the history and of course the fabulous summer weather and gorgeous beaches and countryside.

We kept on returning to the island and eventually were able to enjoy owning our own holiday apartment.

Now over 25 years later, along with the now grown up family, we still love to spend summer holidays in our favourite resort of Son Bou.

Hello P and C, Sorry it has taken a week to update you on our fantastic holiday! We want to thank you once again for letting us use your apartment in Son Bou. We loved the sea views on the balcony, having breakfast and, at night, (Kids tucked in bed around 11.30) a drink, (or three!) on the balcony. Very private apartment and so amenable to everything. Fabulous apartment, place and holiday.

Fantastic, this apartment provides everything that makes a great family holiday. It over looks the communal pool and is within a 5min walk from the beach, restaurants and shops including a fabulous bakery. The apartment it's self is very clean and comfortable and comes with a fully equipped kitchen which was important to me having a one year old baby. The owners made the process of booking the apartment very easy providing both details about the apartment and recommendation of places to go whilst on vacation.The only bad thing about this holiday was having to come home, serious holiday blues.

A fantastic appartment in a superb spot within the very pretty Son Bou Gardens. The listing description is very accurate and the corner location on the first floor makes for peace, quite and fanastic sea views with beautiful sunsets. The appartment is clean and well maintainedand the family owners are very nice, helpful people. I would recommend it to anyone. We just love it and keep going back each year. Safe beach and a nice resort we particularly like the Kitcat bar for their Sangraia and a Crabbies ginger beer and whisky. Also the Compostella restaurant for a steak from their wood fired BBQ and a table on their balcony as the sun goes down. Perfect!

After several years renting holiday homes on the island, we decided to purchase an apartment in Son Bou, our favourite resort. Son Bou is on the sunny south coast of Menorca, just 20 minutes from Mahon airport - it boasts a 2 Km long sandy beach, probably the best on the island. The clean, safe and pleasant resort is great for a family beach holiday - just chilling out and relaxing, taking a break away from today's hectic pace of life. Our south facing first floor apartment is located in the San Jaime Zone 3 complex which has a large rectangular swimming pool with a childrens' pool. The Zone 3 is the "Son Bou Gardens" apartments, which are nearest to Son Bou, between the resort and the Club San Jaime area.

Son Bou is best known for its long sandy beach. San Jaime has grown up around the superb beach which gently shelves into the warm clear blue Mediterranean Sea. It is perfect for sun bathing, swimming, snorkeling or trying some of the watersports on offer, including pedalo hire and banana boat rides. Sun beds and umbrellas can be hired and there are three nice beach bars available for Meals, Snacks, Drinks and Ice Creams. .

Son Bou has a 16 lane 10-pin bowling alley located in a modern building behind the shopping complex (Closed 2014).


Mahon, Menorca's Airport is just 11 miles away from Son Bou - less than half an hour's drive or a 30 Euros taxi ride. There is a local bus service to Alaior, the local small town and Mahon, or you can hire a car to go sightseeing around the historic and very picturesque island. Son Bou's position half way along the south coast makes it ideal for exploring the island. Its only about a 30 minute drive to both Mahon and Ciutadella (the former capital).


Son Bou is on the south coast of Menorca. The distance to Alaior, the local town is 4 miles with Mahon (Mao), Menorca's capital, being 12 miles away. For an enjoyable walk, you can take the coastal path along Son Bou beach to the next resort of Sant Tomas (1 hour +). The coastal path has been extended and signposted, so you can now continue further along the coast from Sant Thomas to the resort of Cala Galdana (another 3 hours +). Only for experienced & energetic walkers. (We took a taxi back!)

Further Details:

There is a good selection of supermarkets, shops, bars and restaurants in Son Bou, also a medical centre and chemist, if required. During the summer season the Club San Jaime, the hotels and most of the bars offer a variety of family entertainment in the evenings.

Many of the bars have large screen TV's where you can watch your favourite sports while enjoying a few beers.

If you still need an internet fix when on holiday, free WiFi is available at the nearby pool bar and at most bars and restaurants in Son Bou.

Son Bou has the longest beach on Menorca with three beach bars spaced out about 1Km apart along the length of the beach. There is a Red Cross station with lifeguards, who operate a safety flag system indicating when it is safe to swim. (Please respect nature and take care during adverse weather as there can be dangerous conditions in the sea off of Son Bou, with large waves and strong under-currents).

The western end of Son Bou beach is popular with naturists.

In Spring and Autumn Menorca is popular for bird watching as many migrating birds stop off for a rest. Son Bou is a convenient location to act as a base to reach all of the island. One of our early season birdwatching guests commented: "Birding was very good with 75 species, 4 of which were new to us. For us, the best places were Cala Galdana Gorge, the area of La Val and the area of Tirant".

For Cycling enthusiasts you can hire a bike in Son Bou and explore the coastal paths, local country lanes and tracks.

Booking Notes:
We request a £100 per week non-returnable deposit on the confirmation of a booking, with the balance payable one month before you travel.
Ideally we request that your payment is by bank transfer.

Changeover Day:
Please note that our changeover day is only on a Friday in July and August.
Rentals are from 14:00 pm on the day of arrival to 10:00 am on the day of departure. (There are facilities at our local Property Manager's Office for early or late departures).

Notes on prices:
Prices shown are for the property per week in UK Pounds, based on Friday to Friday rentals.
Our prices also include a 'Welcome Pack' of basic provisions on the day of your arrival at the apartment.
A cot and highchair are available to rent from our Property Manager at an extra charge of £25 per week.

Please note that all applicable UK & Spanish Taxes are paid on our rental income from the SJ172 apartment.

  • Notes on accommodation: Access to the SJ172 apartment is via a shared central staircase, through a wrought iron gate onto the south facing front balcony. The gate can be secured for added security and privacy. SJ172 is at the end of the block in an ideal and very convenient location, with everything within easy walking distance - the sandy Son Bou beach, one of the best in Menorca, being just 5 minutes walk away. (We have a local English speaking Property Manager who has an office in Son Bou). Outside: The Zone 3 San Jaime apartment complex has well maintained lawns and gardens. The large rectangular shared pool and childrens pool is just 60 metres to the right, in front of SJ172, with a tennis court to the left. A childrens play area is further along in Zone 3, towards the Club San Jaime leisure complex which has a large 'Clover Leaf' pool and water chutes. Car parking is at the rear of the SJ172 apartment. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided. The linen is changed weekly. (Please bring your own beach towels). Other: Apartment SJ172 has a private and secure, south facing front balcony, with sea views, equipped with patio furniture. Spacious enough for dining outside, sunbathing or just watching the world go by! There is a small rear balcony off the double bedroom.
