Villa Grace is a beautiful traditional old stone house located in the charming and peaceful hamlet of Ruskovice. Just 15 mins walk to the seafront of Orebic town. This former sea captains house features a wealth of charm and boasts superb sea and mountain views. Being a 200-year-old stone property, Villa Grace has that authentic Mediterranean feel, while its location at the foot of the impressive Mount Illijah (961m at peak) gives many options for hill walking and biking directly from behind villa. The unique and beautiful location affords peace, great hiking from the doorstep and convenient access to the nearby beach. A wide variety of superb bars, cafe's and restaurants are all within walking distance and the spectacular Island of Korcula can be reached from via a short boat trip from Orebic Marina. About Darren Edwards

I had the privilege of spending 3 wonderful years living in Croatia some time ago, I now regard this beautiful country as my second home. Having purchased the villa in 2004, and restoring the house to its former glory, I now visit as often as possible. However, being part of the rat race here in the UK I am not always able to visit as often as I like. Even now, when I do visit, I am still blown away by the natural beauty of Croatia, its unspoilt scenery and its wonderful culture. I enjoy nothing more than catching up with old friends there and love to see the place flourishing while still retaining its many charms.

Darren Edwards purchased this villa in 2004

Why Darren Edwards chose Orebić

Having the opportunity to travel the world, Croatia is a sure winner. Not only does Croatia offer the best combination of climate, activities and natural beauty, the people are extremely welcoming too. Old stone houses are very difficult to buy, so I was very lucky to get this one in such a great position, so close to the sea and amenities. Because the area has'nt been overdeveloped, Ruskovice and the nearby town of Orebic are unique. The location of Villa Grace is not only conveniently located, but is relaxing and peaceful which is ideal for families with children. The many amenities of Orebic including supermarkets, bakeries and its variety of excellent bars, restaurants and cafes are all within walking distance. The pretty villages of Trpanj, Perna, Viganj and Loviste are a short drive away. Orebic Marina is an approx 15 minute walk away where it is possible to catch the daily and frequent car and passenger ferry to Korcula.

Guestbook comments from the owner

'We had a great holiday when we stayed at Villa Grace in Orebic. The house is superbly appointed and in a stunningly beautiful location. The house had everything we needed. The house is located at the foot of a spectacular mountain and the scenery all around is stunning. We had a great time!' - J Davies, Abergavenny

'We felt immediately at home in this traditional stone-built house, which had plenty of space for our two families. We liked the quiet, out-of-town location, with great walks up the flanks of Mt. Illija out the back. But we also enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Orebic, just 15 minutes walk down the hill, Above all we were impressed by the stunning scenery and relaxed atmosphere of The Peljesac. Andy Halliday.

It was our first time to Croatia and will not be our last! Villa Grace was just perfect for our stay. The area is just tranquil and the nearby restaurants are fantastic. I would highly recommend the villa to anyone looking for a peaceful family location. A Otter

Lovely Villa and Quite Location

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in Villa Grace. From the outside it is an old house and according to the nephew of the lady who lives at the end of the terrace is amongst the oldest in Orebic. The inside has been completely refurbished and tastefully extended by the way of a lovely lounge. The bedrooms are clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The kitchen/diner is very large and has enough facilities to prepare meals although we did not use them much as there plenty of restaurants in town that serve reasonable priced and generally good meals. In talking to the owner I understand that he is keen to further improve the house and its facilities . It is in a quiet location, being about 900 metres up the from the main road that runs through the town. A little further up the road from the Villa there are lanes which are good for exploration and evening strolls.

This part of Croatia has stunning views and Orebic and its surrounding area has its fair share. The beaches are clean and the water is very clear and so snorkeling is fun. It is well positioned for trips out and one of the first should be on one of the ferries across to the walled town of Korcula which is well worth the visit and has many more good restaurants. We enjoyed it enough to go twice.

A happy holiday was had at the Villa.

Wonderful holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa Grace for a week this month, the house is fabulous, it was clean and comfortable with plenty of space for the 5 of us. The kitchen was well equipped for what you need from a holiday rental, we spent most of our time using the fabulous BBQ facilities and outside living area though. The house is located about 10-15mins walk from Orebic at the base of the mountain, this suited us as it was peaceful and quiet. The villa is well placed for touring the local area, Orebic is about 2 hours drive from Dubrovnik. It has plenty of facilities, banks, post office, resturaunts, supermarkets, bars and is in a good location for getting the ferry over to the other islands, we went to Korcula for the day you can do this as a foot passenger or use the car ferry, lovely place and enjoyable. Also exploring the small villages along the coast was fun, would recommend Loviste and the resturaunts there. Also a day trip by catamaran to Dubrovnik is well worth the effort in the height of the summer rather than driving. All in all we had a great time staying in villa grace and Orebic. Would recommend it.

Fantastic September Holiday in Croatia

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week at Villa Grace. The house is perfect with every facility you need. The rooms are light, airy and spotlessly clean. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms and kitchen are well equipped. The house is located at the base of a mountain and the views are out of this world. Spring water is also piped through to the house. The terrace has a stylish seating area with pomegranite and orange trees (absolute heaven). Orebic is a quaint seaside idyll with an abundance of small restaurants offering locally caught fish and seafood. We went to Korcula by boat taxi and had lunch and spent an amazing day exploring the cobbled streets. Villa Grace is perfect and well located as a base for touring the local area. It is highly recommended for both a relaxing beach holiday and to delve into the histories of the area. Incidentally, the weather was brilliant all week. Can't wait to return soon.

Fabulous Holiday

  • 4 of 5

I am very pleased to write this review for Villa Grace, an exceptionally quiet and well kept villa in Orebic, Croatia. We went on holiday with good friends and our 2 families had the pleasure of staying for a couple of weeks at this lovely house/villa having had a long but exceptionally beautiful car journey down the coast. We actually went the wrong way to get to Orebic but were glad we took the wrong turn as every corner uncovered another majestic and spectacular view of this beautiful hidden gem of a country. In fact, the motorway up the centre of the country also provides a lovely ride and is half the journey time. Orebic itself is vibrant with lots of restaraunts and shops to occupy families with or without children and is a mere 90 minutes from Dubrovnik by car which is well worth the trip. A ferry journey visit to Korcula is a must as well as a trip down the coastline to Vijanj and other small but beautiful coastal towns. Take time to stop off in one of the wineries and pick up some excellent local and very reasonably priced local wine. We drank far too much of it but are going back in the summer of 2015 for more... The approach to Orebic is truly breathtaking - it's best to arrive during daylight hours to truly appreciate the vistas. You wind around what seems like an endless road - rocks and mountains to one side and cliffs and the clear blue Adriatic to the other until finally you see the island of Korcula and Orebic spread out majestically before you - you cannot fail to be amazed by this panorama.

In the summer months, Orebic is a hive of activity. There is a good selection of supermarkets, bakeries, restaraunts and bars close by. These shops are a 15 minute walk from the Villa down a winding road. The climb back to the Villa at night was a sobering thought after a long day if I'm honest but there are cheap taxi's available should you not fancy the climb. The Villa itself is so spacious with lots of rooms providing plenty of space for all of us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to any family who wants a warm and enjoyable holiday with loads to do for young children and teenagers like ours. Villa Grace will be remembered very fondly by us all.
