About Amanda Pardoe

I live in Hertfordshire, England with my husband and have 4 grown up children and 8 grandchildren. We both work full time in our own small building company. Our main hobbies are golf for me and cycling and the gym for my husband.

We spend at least one month a year in Spain and for the past 4 years we have driven down there. We take the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander or Bilboa and then stop once overnight. Our favourite stopping places so far are Salamanca, a beautiful university town, Burgos, a lively yet smart city and Caceres, a lovely historic town. The new, very quiet motorways make the journey a real pleasure and have allowed us to discover much more of Spain.

Amanda Pardoe purchased this villa in 2004

Why Amanda Pardoe chose Costa de la Luz - Cadiz

We were looking for a villa in Spain and decided this was the ideal area for us on our very first visit. We love the fact that there is so much natural, beautiful countryside nearby together with historic towns and cities wihin easy reach plus an abundance of golf courses. The local people also impressed us with their warm, friendly and welcoming attitude.

There really is somethiing for all of us here. Our whole family are very sporty and everything they want to do is within walking distance.

It is also very useful that there are three airports within one and a half hour's drive of the house making it perfect for a long weekend.

What makes this villa unique

Coming from a village in England where we always need to use the car it is important to us that we can walk to the beach, shops and restaurants when we are on holiday. There is also a great bus service from just outside our development.

We have extended and improved the villa since we bought it so that now it has a bedroom and two bathrooms downstairs making it suitable for my elderly mother who uses a wheelchair. The surrounding area is also flat, making outings with her or the grandchildren in their pushchairs very easy.

Our secure garden is also great for little ones and the gated pool is a good size for adults to enjoy doing lengths if they wish.

The main attraction for us though has to be that after a few minutes walk we can be on the gorgeous, huge beach.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Traditional Spanish villa

  • 5 of 5

Well maintained villa in a secluded safe setting. Lovely shared pool across the private road which is gated. BBQ area with table to the side that is great for eating al fresco. The villa has everything you need and the owner provided excellent service. The beach is a short walk away and goes on for miles with lots of small bars that sell drinks and snacks. The golf course is even nearer with good practice facilities. IF you would like to visit an area of Spain that is still very Spanish this is it !

Great villa and excellent holiday

  • 5 of 5

The villa clearly benefits from a caring owner and good local assistance. It feels so much like a home and we all felt completely relaxed during our stay. The location is a short distance from shops and loads of restaurants which are all of decent quality and the supermarkets are a 10 minute drive away. We tended to spend mornings around the beach or villa, snoozed (as everyone does) and then travelled off into a city or village for the late afternoon and evening (Jerez, Cadiz, Vejer, Arcos & Medina Sedonia were our choices). All are within easy reach. All in all a great villa and location. If you like golf all the better because there are loads of courses right on the doorstep!

Owner's Response: thank you so much for your review. I am delighted that you had a good time and I always enjoy hearing what people did during their stay. Great choice of locations that you visited, Our own holidays at the villa are very similar to yours and we love having the combination of beach, pool and sightseeing. This year for the first time my husband joined me on the golf course as he has just started playing and you're right there are plenty of courses to choose from! We hope to hear from you again as we'd very much like to welcome you back.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end.

When booking the Villa, Amanda was very responsive and answered all our questions immediately. She also provided lots of useful information and directions in advance of our trip.

The villa exceeded our expectations, we honestly can't think of any one item that could be included to enhance our stay. The pool and wifi were particularly welcome in helping to keep our teenage sons entertained. The villa is very clean with new bedlinen and towels and the garden is beautiful. We tried a number of beaches but kept coming back to the nearby beach in Novo Sancti Petri, it is just gorgeous. This is a perfect location to explore the many wonderful attractions of the region.

Fantastic Villa & Resort

  • 5 of 5

We booked the villa months in advance as we planned to take our 18 month old daughter on her first holiday abroad and this villa seemed to tick all the right boxes for a family with young children. The owner was very helpful and communication was first class, we had a number of questions with this being the first time we had taken our daughter abroad.

The villa itself is exceptionally well thought out and kept with plenty of space both inside and out - we had 5 adults and our daughter staying for the week and we never felt cramped or overcrowded. The villa is very well equipped and has everything you need for your stay.

The local commercial area is a short walk away, as is the fantastic beach - neither of these areas were crowded and the local people were very friendly. The whole area has something for everyone, sporting activities are a plenty and there are a number of very good shops and bar/restaurants to choose from. I would recommend hiring a car if you plan to visit further in the region - Cadiz was less than an hour away and worth a day trip. The larger supermarkets are also a short drive away although I am sure the bus service would get you there as well. It is worth noting that the shared pool is not open all year round but local hotels do have pools that you can use.

I would recommend this villa to anyone who wants a lovely relaxing holiday with all the creature comforts of home in an unspoilt and beautiful part of Spain with some of the best beaches I have seen in a long time.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. Your comments about the area really reflect what we feel about it and why we bought in this particular part of Spain. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Together with the couple who look after the villa for us we know how precious holidays are to people, so we all try hard to get things right. You have mentioned to us that you are thinking of returning next year so we hope we will have the chance to welcome you back. Thanks again for taking the time to send your comments, much appreciated.

Fantastic villa in great location

  • 5 of 5

We love this beautiful, spacious and immaculately kept villa and we return with our young family year on year. The location is excellent - a gated pool is immediately adjacent and a beautiful unspoilt beach is 10 minutes walk. We find both the villa and the location to be very family friendly. There are also a multitude of golf courses right next door and an equestrian centre where you can take lessons or watch professional displays whilst having a drink at the bar. A bus stop is conveniently located just outside the villa complex with direct buses taking you the 10 minute ride to a lovely promenade with lots of fantastic restaurants overlooking the sea. We actually often walked there but it is handy to have the bus as an option. It is also a great base from which to explore the local region with many great day trips such as Cadiz, Seville, Jerez and the stunning pueblos blancos.

favourite place

  • 5 of 5

We love this coast of Spain and have stayed in other apartments and villas, but this one ticks all the boxes for a family with 2 teenagers. The villa is spacious, clean and well maintained inside and out, and help is available if needed. The shared pool and grass areas in the complex are also well cared for by the gardeners, and gives the children a chance to socialise with the Spanish community. The beach is a short walk away and there is a commercial centre nearby too with a supermarket, bars, restaurants and plenty of other shops for the stuff you didn't know you need until you see it on sale. There are 2 golf courses closeby and this is a perfect place for joggers, walkers and cyclists. The villa is perfectly located in the centre of the Costa de la Luz to explore other lovely beaches and larger towns such as Tarifa, Jerez, Seville, Sanlucar, Cadiz....but you do need a car.

Owner's Response: So glad you and the family enjoyed your stay, we really want our guests to love the place as much as we do. Many thanks for your review and for booking another 3 weeks next year when we will be welcoming you back for your third visit. Yes, we agree that you need a car to properly explore further afield, especially with youngsters in tow, but we often use the local bus and this links up well with the larger public transport system. We're hoping the new tram will be in operation next year allowing us to hop on the bus outside the villa to take us into Chiclana, change onto the tram straight to the centre of Cadiz. Thanks again and have a wonderful time next year.
