Overview

Property

Updated: 08-Nov-2016
House above Edremit Village, Nr. Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus - 5 mins walk to Edremit Village 10 mins drive to Banks, Supermarkets Restaurants and Sandy Beach

Trepen is an individual house in a very special location on the lower slopes of the Kyrenias. From an elevated position above the village of Edremit, it offers both privacy and outstanding views of the coast from the West to the Karpaz in the East, with the Kyrenia Mountains and St. Hilation Crusader castle as a backdrop. You see the Queens window from the pool. Edremit village has a shop and a smart bar/restaurant. The house was completed in 2006 and many traditional Cyprus features have been incorporated, including a stone fireplace, marble floors, large balconies and Cyprus arches. It is fully equipped, has air- conditioners/heaters and ceiling fans. There is a large and very private overflow swimming pool (10x5m) with outside shower and BBQ. A choice of sun or shade is available at the pool or on the balconies. An attractive stone wall surrounds the property and the landscaped gardens.

About the Owner

Trevor fell in love with northern Cyprus in the mid sixties and bought an old village house. In 2006 Trevor & Penny built Trepen on land behind the old house, and since then have come out every year to visit this delightful place. because of its wonderful location with magnificent views, privacy and tranquillity. Add to this the warmth of the local people, the sun, the sea and the excellent restaurants It is a paradise with pleasures we hope you will come out to enjoy as we do. Trevor & Penny

Guestbook comments from the owner

20 Jun 10 - "Fantastic villa in such a peaceful location. Spectacular views and great pool. Warm enough for even early morning swimming. Enjoyed the paragliders, its well worth a go. Would highly recommend the stone grill for eating. Would hope to be back again next year.

Alex & Lyn McGregor.

14 Aug 10 - "Fantastic holiday in wonderful villa. Great views and wonderful pool. We loved eating at the stone grill and Kervans. Had some brilliant barbecues and relaxed evenings. Hope to return here soon. Judy, Norman,Amy, Ross and Vicki Hill. (already booked 2012)

23 Sep 10 - "What a fabulous holiday we have had at Trepen. Stunning views and complete peace and privacy. The aerobatic displays of the Bee-eaters were wonderful to watch in the late afternoon. St Hilarion Castle well worth the effort (and heat!) as was the beautiful Bellapais Abbey. Looking forward to our next visit. Jan & Denis Spencer.

Peace and Tranquility

If you like a villa that is not overlooked with fantastic views then this is for you. The very large pool is completely private and the balconies offer views to the sea and to the mountains. You will definitely need to hire a car but they are easy and cheap to organise. There are an abundance of restaurants within a short car journey and food and drinks are very cheap. The villa also has a built in barbecue. There are lovely beaches, both public and private within a few miles of the villa. We have already booked again for 2016!

Our Third Stay at Villa Trepen

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I so enjoy our recent stay at Trepen with the magnificent panoramic views and the majestic mountains behind, the villa is well equipped with all that you require in the kitchen, bedrooms and sitting room and very spacious for two, plus three terraces to choose were to sit and relax or eat Al Fresco. All very secluded with a very large pool just perfect. It is so easy to get there we fly to Larnaca and use the car hire company the owners recommend who meet you from your flight take you to the villa where you hire car await...couldn't be simpler. There is plenty to see and do with a very wide range of excellent restaurants to choose from ....We cannot wait to return next year. Yan & Neil

Perfect for getting away from it all

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I stayed at Trepen for a week in April. Being only the two of us made the already very spacious villa even bigger! We have a balcony for breakfast, one for evening drinks and another for dinner! All with beautiful views, either looking over Kyrenia and the sea or up at the mountains. The pool area, as the whole of the property, is not overlooked by anything or anyone else. You feel wonderfully secluded but able to see all around you. It was great for us as a couple but we could imagine it to be perfect for a bigger group, especially a family. Were we to come back, we would not look for anywhere else to stay.

Great villa - fab pool

  • 4 of 5

We have just returned from a 2 week very relaxing holiday at Trepen. The villa itself is beautiful and the views are stunning. It is larger than you would think from the internal photos, and has a good standard of equipment, including a water cooler (very handy with temperatures of 39 degrees). The balcony off the living area is a wonderful place to sit in the evening, chatting, playing cards and enjoying the lovely breeze and of course the wonderful views, but it would be nice to have more comfortable furniture here though. The pool was fabulous!! There are a couple of steeps steps into it and then a small shelf, but the rest is 6' deep, so ideal for swimming. We hired a Ford Focus but wished we'd had a 4x4, as with a full car and a boot full of groceries, the side street where the villa is situated at the end of, was a challenge for our basic car.

We visited lots of lovely places, including the turtle project, and were lucky enough to witness a baby turtle hatching out, and helped released around 40 hatchlings into the sea that evening (very cute). We had some really nice & inexpensive meals out and were guided by the many recommendations left at the villa by others (Only go to The Kyrenia Tavern if you have lots of time, a strange sense of humour, although the owner is an absolute gent). We had the pleasure of meeting Trevor & Penny during our stay, who were very friendly, and would like to thank them for the use of their lovely villa.

Owner's Response: We are so glad these charming guests enjoyed their holiday. They have raised the question of the appropriate hire car for Trepen. The track up to the house is fairly steep, but a normal 2 wheel drive car has no difficulty with two adults or two adults & two children on board. For 4 adults plus shopping/luggage, then a four wheel drive car is recommended. Acmenya provide 4 wheel drive cars.

Complete Seclusion

  • 5 of 5

Only two weeks, should have booked more. Secluded but accessible and near to all activities, Kyrenia about 12-15mins drive. Trepen really is as good as it looks, spacious, clean, modern, and with fantastic views with the beautiful coast in the distance, backed by wonderful mountain views. Fortunate to have met Trevor and Penny whilst there, a warm and knowledgable couple always ready to help and inform, but not intrusive. The Turkish community is always helpful and respectful and seem genuinely interested in you. An excellent choice for a relaxed vacation.

3 Weeks of relaxation

  • 4 of 5

Find it hard to believe that no-one has written a review on this villa already,

The villa is in the perfect location for the most relaxing holiday you will ever have, can honestly say we have stop at some 10 plus villa’s in North Cyprus and for relaxation and privacy this villa will be very hard to beat. The views are fantastic to say the least, the pool is very private and not overlooked from any angle, did have a problem with pool turning green towards end of our 3 week stay, but Trevor & Penny have sorted this problem, the villa has loads of room if you wish to be alone for a while to take in the views, read a book or just day dream (did loads of that) the guest book goes on about the cat that comes and say’s hi not much in the book about the dogs, 2 dogs come and sleep by the front door at night all we can say is don’t leave anything out at night, the dogs find everything yummy, would book again for 2009 but need an extra bedroom on this visit due to all the kids coming, but we will be back to this wonderful villa very soon. Penny / Trevor a DVD player would be good for winter stay's.

Get in contact with Penny or Trevor now to book you will not be disappointed.

Owner's Response: Glad Ian Gill & Family enjoyed their restful time in Trepen Villa in August 2008. We have advised all guests via the information pack, not to feed the local ferral cats, they are charming but always a nuisance when fed. Similarly, there is no problem with dogs if the gate is kept shut and they are discouraged from entering the garden. A CD and DVD were available in Aug 08 and are still in the house. Best Wishes, Trevor & Penny
