Stuart, Sandra and our son live in Somerset in the south west of England, very close to Glastonbury. We love France and the very relaxed lifestyle and bought our farmhouse and gite in 2005.
We love to spend time in France but are restricted with being able to get away from work, but we look forward to the time when we can spend more time in france.
We have had some fantastic times with our french neighbours, who are so friendly and help us to look after the house while we are back in the UK. We have had some special evenings with our neighbours including eating snails picked from our own garden.
The property is a very peaceful place, where you can relax in peace and quiet taking in the fabulous views. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Sandra and Stuart Kerton purchased this farmhouse in 2005
We spent about 3 years looking for our property starting in the Dordogne, and then moving up to the Charente Maritime.
We love the Charente as it is ideal for beaches, great French towns, with countryside full of sunflowers and vines, making you feel as if you are really engrossed in the french wine making countryside.
Well placed, and easy to get to in a day, not too far down from the ports or easy access to airports, Bordeaux, La Rochelle, Limoges, Poitiers and Angueleme.
We have had some wonderful comments from our guests, and many return bookings.
As it is our second home, you will find all the little gadgets to make your stay easy, and hopefully not wanting for anything. We do ask all out guests after they have visited how we could improve and after 9 years of visitors, we think you will find all that you need.

Thank you so much for letting your home to us, we all had a brilliant time. Over the past 17 years or so we have stayed in many places and your home has to be one of the best! Simply, stylishly decorated and completely practical for a family of 4.
Malloy Family Ireland - returning for the second time 2010
Again, we had a super time and relaxed in comfort! Elaine (cleaner) was so helpful and friendly. My father, aged 88, was most reluctant to leave at the end of his stay; he finds the quiet, peace and comfort wonderful, and enjoyed having his whole family around. THANK YOU

What a fabulous property which led to a fabulous holiday. From first enquiry to post holiday wrap-up Sandra & Stuart were excellent with nothing too much trouble thank you.
Accommodation excellent - first word from our children was 'wow' which says it all. Can't fault anything in terms of cleanliness, maintenance & facilities.
The pool, large garden and extensive supply of garden games, toys (and bikes) meant that you could easily have spent 2 weeks without travelling anywhere else.
Cognac & Angouleme towns well worth a visit.
La Palmyre Zoo good for children if around 90 mins away.
Market at Rouillac last Thursday of each month was massive and reccommended even if you don't want to buy anything.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property particularly for large groups like ours (10 people). Will no doubt be returning in the future.
Thank you to Stuart & Sandra again.
The property is super. Well maintained with everything needed to keep the family occupied - pool, table tennis, snooker, films. Set in the glorious french countryside with numerous walks on quiet country tracks and lanes. If you wish to explore further, Cognac, La Rochelle and Ordadour sur Glane all within 1.5 hrs car journey with typical french markets just 30 mins away. I would definitely recommend and will be visiting again!
Fantastic accommodation in a beautiful location. Lovely region of France with lots to do. Accommodation was perfect for families. Thank you Sandra and Stuart for being so approachable and helpful. Definitely recommend this property!
Delightful location, surrounded by sunflowers, house and huge grounds well maintained. We rented both properties for 10 days Spent a lot of time in the fabulous pool and dinning in the garden. The owner were very attentive to make sure we had a happy stay. Would stay there again definitely
Following our stay in the gite last year (situated on the same property) we not only returned, but brought friends with us!
This beautiful farmhouse is second to none with ample space for everyone and excellent facilities including those for cooking and bbq. We brought 4 teenagers, ranging from 12-17 years and all were occupied on the days that we stayed at the property - splashing in the pool, competing at table tennis, badminton and cricket as well as trampolining! Other activities on offer included bikes in a range of sizes to suit all ages. The owners ensured that we had everything that we needed and the property was well-maintained by friendly people who live locally.
The farmhouse is situated in a rural location amid fields of vineyards and sunflowers - stunning! You do need a car to get around - local towns of Saintes, St Jean D'Angely and Cognac are all around 30 minutes away and well worth a visit. Beaches are about 50 minutes away and are lifeguarded with some beautiful bays and long stretches of sand, depending on which you visit.
We would thoroughly recommend this for a holiday and hope that if you choose to visit you enjoy it as much as we have!
Had a wonderful two weeks at the farmhouse, set in a hamlet not far from Matha it provided the perfect place for our family holiday. A great size pool well fenced along with an enclosed garden meant the little terrors could tear around outside without coming to any harm (or escaping). The countryside around is pleasant for walking or cycling and the field of sunflowers adjacent to the property bought a welcome smile with a morning coffee on the patio.
A good range of attractions are well within an hours drive - so there is plenty of entertainment to keep the kids happy should the weather not be ideal. A wide range of markets and vineyards are nearby along with the local moustardarie.
The local doctor also speaks english which was an unwanted benefit.
