Zambak Apart is a very spacious luxury duplex two bedroomed apartment set on the Kalamar Road, with superb views across to the nearby islands, and an easy leisurely walk into the beautiful and idyllic picturesque town of Kalkan. The walk itself is very pretty and picturesque due to the views of the bay and colourful bloom of the bougainvillea flower. Free Wifi internet access available in the apartment. Apart from a CD player there is also a docking speaker system for your personal Ipod, so you have your own choice of music. There is also an electric water cooler so that you have continuous cold bottled water. The swimming pool is one of the only ones in Kalkan that is maintained and kept full throughout the year so is always clean and fresh if you fancy a dip during the Winter.

About the Owner
It is often hard to critique yourself to create that image, but my wife and I are people who enjoy holidaying and relaxing, which is why we have come back to Kalkan time and time again. We love the ambience of the town and its nice hustle and bustle of an evening, without being crowded, as you head through the streets seeking restaurants that you have booked or looking at the shops with their varied trinkets and clothes. We have been to Spain and Italy, and they are beautiful, but the pull of Kalkan just keeps happening. We take great pride in making sure that the apartment is equipped so that you can enjoy your holiday without any problems, but we do know that things can occur so always make sure that you are able to contact our agent. The Kalkan Secret is staying alive!!

Well, we have been back in the UK for just over a week and all we can say is we wish we had stayed longer than the three weeks we spent in Kalkan. Zambak is a whole lot more than a holiday let, it is home for the duration of our stay. From the moment we booked Lew and Caroline were on hand to offer advice, share experiences and provide customer service second to none. This was our tenth visit to Kalkan, we have stayed in numerous hotels, apartments and villas, Zambak was by far the best we have stayed in. Prior to departure Lew contacted us to ensure we had everything sorted, requested whether we would like any extras purchasing for our arrival ( on top of the beautiful welcome pack!). The apartment is situated along the Kalamar Road, adjacent to Yelken Bistro and the facilities it offers compliment the property to a tee. The apartment itself can only be described as stunning, the attention to detail has obviously been well thought through. The lounge /diner cannot be faulted, with newly installed appliances and marble work surfaces are simply beautiful. On the first floor are two beautifully furnished bedrooms , both with balcony and are fantastic, with views of Kalamar bay. The bathroom, with fantastic walk in drench shower is simply wonderful. I cannot praise this property enough, it is very very well maintained, cleaned regularly and of a very high standard. We were contacted on our first full day by Karyn, who ensured that we had everything we needed and ensured we had her contact details should we need any help during our stay. Kalkan itself hasn't changed too much over the years we have been visiting. The restaurants still maintain their air of class, the narrow streets and quaint shops are an attraction now, as they were when we first visited. A must for all visitors to Kalkan are the gullet day cruises. They offer fantastic value for money, offer stunning views of Kalkan from the sea and the chance to visit coves and bays which are otherwise difficult to get to. With crystal clear waters and warm seas, the experience is a must. Yet again our experience of Kalkan has cemented our opinion that until somewhere comes up that is better, we will return year after year. With the homely touches that Lew and Caroline have introduced in the apartment we would highly recommend the property to friends, relatives and indeed anyone.....as long as it didn't coincide with our trip back to Zambak. We still miss the early evening V&T on the sun kissed terrace.
This was our 3rd time staying in this beautiful duplex apartment. It is an amazing place. Lew's apartment provides everything you could possibly need for a relaxed and stress free holiday. Two big bedrooms and two bathrooms so it was ideal for our family. The kitchen area has a huge fridge freezer, dishwasher and built in oven with extensive crockery and cutlery. There is everything you might need there. A great outside patio area with chairs, table and umbrella and there is a beautiful sea view. There are pretty gardens around the apartment and the pool area is a few steps away which is well maintained and a great size with plenty of sun beds. There are supermarkets, restaurants and bars minutes away or it is roughly 20 minutes walk into town. It is in a great location in my opinion. We will definitely return to this lovely home. Fantastic apartment in Kalkan
We had a super relaxing holiday in Kalkan. Lew's apartment was well equipped and really spacious over 2 floors. The pool is clean and has superb views of the sea. Well located, a short distance from Old Town and harbour where we caught the boats to the various beach clubs. The Yelken restaurant next door is very good too, friendly and intenative staff.
Beautiful apartment in Kalkan
We have recently returned from two weeks in Lew's apartment in Kalkan. The apartment is lovely and has everything you will need for you stay. There is a large pool with views of the sea and we enjoyed sitting out on the balcony and enjoying the garden. It's a great location as well, its about a fifteen minute walk into town and a little further (perhaps 20 minutes) walk up to the bus station. Again its about a 10 minute walk in the other direction to Kalamar beach club - we visited several times during our trip and really enjoyed it!
Lew was so great at helping us with our trip, especially after our flights were changed and helping us arrange transfers. He was so helpful and accommodating and made our trip very easy! There was a welcome pack with butter,milk ect which was much appreciated after a long day of travelling. There is also a welcome book with lots of recommendations on where to eat and things to do. It also had the bus timetables for the gorge and the beaches which was great for when we were planning day trips.
I would definitely recommend this apartment for a lovely, relaxing trip if you are visiting Kalkan. Thanks Lew! We hope to return :)
Lovely apartment - perfect for our holiday
We had such a fantastic holiday. We arrived tired after a night flight and our fridge was stocked with what we needed for breakfast - such a relief when the children were hungry! We met lovely Karyn later on that day and she was great making sure we had everything we needed. The information book within the apartment listed great restaurants and places to visit.... and we tried to get through it during our 2 week stay. The pool was perfect for us and we enjoyed our time relaxing and playing in the pool. There were a handful of other families/couples and everyone was so friendly and kind. All had visited before so they too recommended places to eat and things to do.
The apartment was clean, well equipped (wifi & water cooler especially), comfortable and had everything we needed to make out stay relaxing. Many thanks to Lew who provided some fantastic advice/information before we left that made our stay and journey stress free. Our favourite restaurant had to be the one just downstairs - Yelken Cafe & Bistro. THE most delicious burgers I have to say and we are experts and the friendliest staff and management.
The must do trip is a Boat Trip. We went on board the Kartal Boat (private hire with another family) and it was a fantastic day. The food was delicious.
We also recommend the Saklikent Gorge. Get there early to avoid the crowds as parts of the gorge are narrow and people aren't always patient so unlikely to let you through even if you are waiting....we hired a guide and this was excellent as he helped us at these more crowded points and stopped people barging through. He also showed you where to place your foot in a waterfall....you will see what I mean if you go on the trip ;) He deserved his tip at the end!
I have just finished putting together my photobook and seeing the photos again made me remember what a wonderful holiday we had in August. We will be back...sooner rather than later I hope and we will be staying at Zambak - just perfect.

Our stay at the Zambak Apartments was fantastic. It was very spacious, spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and well positioned. Everything that you needed was there to hand and people to help you if you have any queries or problems (Karyn was brilliant). The sea views are gorgeous and the pool and the gardens are clean, quiet and very relaxing. Its about a 15 minute walk down into Kalkan village but it is a steep walk back up the hill which inevitably takes longer. However this would not put me off staying in the Zambak again as taxis are plentyful and based at the bottom of the hill so there is never any problem getting a lift back up if you dont fancy the walk. Kalkan is such a pretty if somewhat quirky place to stay. Its my 7th year in Turkey and most definately Kalkan is the prettiest place that I have stayed.
Lew (the owner) was extremely helpful before the holiday giving tips and advice to ensure our holiday went smoothly and was happy to organise the transfers either way from Dalaman to Kalkan.

“I came to Kalkan with my family in 2000 after many a year of travelling around France. We had never stayed in the same place twice and could never imagine doing so. We found the Yelken Hotel in a holiday magazine and decided to give it a try. Arriving in Kalkan we were made to feel like one of the family, both in the hotel and within the town itself. We were so happy with our holiday that we booked again and found year two as good if not better, so we became Kalkanites. The hotel closed due to the collapse of a tour company, so it was transformed into Luxury Apartments. Not wanting to miss out we bought one and never regretted it from day one. There is everything we need here but the peace and tranquility of where we live, coupled with the wonderful people is what drags us back yearly.”
Activity and Interests
Kalkan has a small pebbly beach and visitors are advised to wear light footwear if using this beach. Nearby is the Kalamar Beach club which is within easy walking distance or via the free pick up service. There are also other beach clubs in the area which can be reached by a small free boat service. Local sandy beaches at Kaputas (10 mins bus from Kalkan) or Patara (20 mins bus ride, but certainly worth a visit).
Nearest airport is Dalaman, approx. 1 1/2 hours travelling to Kalkan. Hiring a car is not essential as transfers can be arranged with local company and local taxis will happily negotiate a fare for those discovery visits.
The apartment is an easy 10/12 min walk into the town where you can sample the numerous restaurants offering a high quality and variation of differing foods and styles. If you dont fancy a walk there is an hourly Dolmus that runs at the top of the hour and past the apartment. It returns on the half hour. Kas is the nearest larger town and can be reached by the cheap local buses.
Kalkan is unique with a number of restaurants with roof terraces which afford a wonderful night view as you sit and delight in the excellent high standard of food served throughout the town. There are a number of medium sized supermarkets who all offer a free delivery service. There are also plenty of banks and a post office within the town where money can be changed as well as making those cheaper calls back home. There is a local market on Thursdays where you can haggle with the sellers over prices.
For those that visit out of season the coolest times are generally late January and early February. During these times you can normally be happy in a t shirt or blouse during the day, but may need something warmer during the evenings. There are generally about 25/30 restaurants open at that time of year.

There is a non refundable £100 deposit on booking. The balance is due to be paid 8 weeks before departure as well as a £100 returnable breakages deposit, returnable immediately on arrival back from your holiday after clearance with local agent. Full details will be provided, once balance has been paid, with regards to access to the apartment on your arrival.
Preferred change over day is generally over the weekend if possible, although this can be flexible depending on available flights.

“Yelken Apartments have a wonderfully sized swimming pool and well looked after garden area that make this complex a joy to relax in, knowing you have the peace and tranquility to enjoy your holiday. Everyone tends to go at different times so the pool area never seems to be crowded. Our apartment is a large and generous size, and with the addition of an extra shower room makes it an ideal property for up to six people at a lower cost than a lot of villas in the area. We continually update the property, both for our enjoyment and that of our guests. Although this is our holiday home we do treat it with the emphasis on the home as we know that once in the apartment we can chill and relax. We always want our guests to feel the same hence why guests have returned more than once.”

Please no smoking within the apartment, although it is OK on the patio. No pets. Property has a coded safe for that extra piece of mind. There are two hair dryers and hair straighteners for use during your stay. There is also a welcome pack to greet you on your arrival. Free Wi-fi internet access is available in the apartment for those that travel with their laptops. There is also availability of a travel cot for those with younger children. Outside: Patio overlooks the beautifully well presented and colourful garden area as well as the wonderful backdrop of the bay and islands. The large patio area includes four padded chairs and table with large parasol. Both upstairs balconies have a padded chair and table. Large shared swimming pool, (75m2 in size), which is cleaned daily by on site staff, with large jacuzzi and small childrens pool. There are plenty of sunbeds with cushions and further parasols around the pool for your use. There is a large brick built BBQ, which is always available for your use during the stay. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Cleaning included with towel and linen changed on weekly basis for stays more than ten days. Cleaned initially prior to arrival. Pool/beach towels are also provided for your use.
