Villa in Santa Ana, Nr. Es Castell, Menorca - Set in a Suburban Spanish Area with Fantastic Views

Beautiful villa located in the quiet Spanish suburban area of Santa Ana (Es Castell). Within 5 minutes walk to Calas Fonts, local shops and restaurants and the small,pretty cove beach of Sol De Este. The villa has been totally refurbished over the last 3 years and boasts laminated and tiled floors, double glazing, mosquito nets, air conditioning and central heating. There is a modern fitted kitchen which leads out to a raised timber terrace for alfresco dining, overlooking the garden and pool, Calas Fonts harbour and the sea entrance to the port of Mahon which is incredibly beautiful by day and night. There is a large upper roof terrace where the views are even more stunning.

About Mr & Mrs Hankinson

I live in the UK with my wife and 2 children a boy of 14 and a girl of 9.We lived and worked in Menorca for 7 years at this and another villa and really enjoyed the time we spent there only returning home for the children's schooling. I find upcycle and specialist paint vintage furniture and architecturals and design and install bespoke furniture and my wife is a massage and beauty therapist.

We have owned this particular villa for 10 years and intend keeping it for our retirement.

The location is fantastic with views over Calas Fonts harbour, La Mola and the entrance of the Port de Mahon where you can watch all the boats and liners come in and go out.

You can access the harbour and all it's bars and restaurants via the wooden steps and boardwalk visible from the back kitchen terrace and its a beautiful short walk there and back both during the day and at night

Why Mr & Mrs Hankinson chose Es Castell

The villa is set in a lovely spot with beautiful veiws in a suburban Spanish area.

We used to live in this and another villa in the next road and have been frequenting the Island since 2001 so know many of the neighbours who are all very nice both English and Spanish.

What makes this villa unique

Obviously the veiws and location did it for us when we bought the villa in 2005.

It's such a great spot and the veiws from the roof terrace are stunning.

You also have the added advantage of seeing all the boats and liners coming in and out of the harbour and you can watch the fireworks from the terrace during the fiestas.

Also all the local amenities,banks,resturants and bars are walking distance both in the town of Es Castell and The Harbour of Calas fonts and there are plenty of regular buses into Mahon.

It is a lovely Villa in a superb location, with wonderful views of the Sea and Waterways.

The property is very clean and comfortable. It is in a lovely location with far reaching views.

It is very well equipped, has a wonderful private pool and is just minutes away from the Restaurants at Calafonts. It is very well placed for travelling around the island by car or bus and is close to every amenity.

Location, location, location

Aside from its beautiful and very large pool, the best thing about this villa is its perfect location. Just 5 minutes walk to the beautiful harbour of Cales Fonts and with incredible sea views, it is perfectly located for a relaxing holiday. We spent a week there without a car and recommend you wouldn't need one unless you want to explore the island. Clean and well equipped, wi fi delivered as promised and TV and DVD movie library were a bonus. Owner very quick to respond to any questions. A quiet location yet minutes away from a beautiful harbour side. Could only perhaps have benefitted from a guest book where people could leave tips and comments for future visitors. Our tips for eating out: Es Llenegall on the harbour front - by far the best and we felt most authentic tapas. Irenes just above the harbour also a lovely place - great food and lovely staff. But the best meals we had were at Bar Espana - located in the town rather than on the harbour side. Almost half the price and fantastic food, if service a little slow at times. To summarise, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this villa. We would definitely return.

Great location, for non-resort real Menorca holiday

Great location less than 20 mins from the airport, yet stunningly tranquil with great views over looking the harbour at Es Castell and out to sea.

The kitchen decking provides an excellent observation deck to sit and watch the day away, from the early procession of fishing boats, mid morning yachts, and all to be repeated when the flotilla returns at six; with the tranquillity only broken by the daily ferry.

Night time is when Es Castell comes alive, think Positano rather than Pascha! The sound of happy dinners from the many excellent restaurants around the harbour drifts across and the lights play on the water.

The villa is so nearly perfect, all but for the master bedroom aircon. A few extra pillows would also help, along with more communication pre-arrival.

That said, I would highly recommend and would love to go back!

The big plus is location

Short and pretty walk to Es Castell is a major plus. Restaurants, bars, shops and supermarket all really near. And EUR 1.65 for a bus to Mahon which runs ever half hour. The owner was very responsive and sorted out our issues very quickly. Could be a few improvements - lighting for the outside and pool, the kitchen could be better equipped with some larger pans and the a/c in the main bedroom is so noisy its really not useable.

Villa with a Great Location

This year will be our second time around at the villa, having stayed previously in September 2014. The villa itself has a lovely location, just a couple of minutes walk from Es Castell centre and the gorgeous little cove of Cales Fonts with all it's restaurants in the old fishermen's caves.

The tapas is excellent at Sa Barqueta and relatively inexpensive.

The property is well maintained and has a lovely pool and garden area.

The kitchen is bright and airy and opens up onto a terrace, which overlooks the garden and pool and is a real sun spot. In the evenings we would go up the stairs onto the roof terrace and sit with a glass of wine

and watch the world go by...very relaxing and it's exactly what we plan to do again! Es Castell itself is only 15 minutes away from the airport by car, but by no means in the flight path. There are regular buses to Mahon's central bus station and a very lovely water taxi service from Cales Fonts to Mahon. If you are looking for something to do, the fort at La Mola is well worth a visit and the pretty harbour at Fornells. When booking the villa, we have found the owner very helpful and responds to queries quickly. In the villa there is a folder which contain lots of useful information and contact details should you have a problem whilst there.

All in all, I would recommend this villa and I'm certainly glad to be going back this year.

Notes on accommodation: The villa is best suited for a large family, 3 x couples or a couple with 4 x children it is conveniently situated in a very safe and clean environment. Outside: The villa is set at a high level in the road and has a 2 level garden with many different plants and flowers maintained by a automatic watering system. There is outdoor furniture for the terraces and pool side the pool is 9m x 4m (private to the villa) with surrounding terraces. Utility Room: Washing machine, drying area, worksurface, shelving, iron and board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The villa, gardens and pool are cleaned Fridays along with changing of towels and bed linen.
