The Farmhouse is a traditional old three storey stone building with huge chestnut beams, terracotta and stone slab floors and large stone fireplaces. Carefully restored in order to retain the character of a fine old building typical of this area, it provides a high standard of comfort. The Farmhouse is cool and airy in summer but snug and cosy when the weather is cooler.
Accommodation is on the first and second floors. Old stables take up the ground floor. It has a well-equipped farmhouse kitchen with its own wood burning stove and fireplace, which can also be used for eating. The sitting room is very spacious and comfortable and contains a large circular dining table, which will seat up to ten people. It also has a large wood burning stove and radiators.
The four centrally heated bedrooms one with en suite bathroom) are all well proportioned and sleep up to eight people. Three are configured as singles/doubles, one has a double bed. There are two other bathrooms.
Pischiano is a former small farm, consisting of a large traditional Tuscan farmhouse, a small old farmhouse called Anna's House and a converted traditional Barn set in its own fields and woods, in a delightful setting on the slopes of the Alpe della Luna; the Mountains of the Moon, just above Sansepolcro in the upper Tiber Valley in eastern Tuscany. It is situated above a stream, surrounded by meadows and overlooks the beautiful Afra valley with views across wooded hills. We have carefully and simply restored and furnished the houses in order to retain their original character while providing comfortable accommodation all year round.
The Farmhouse and Anna's House are attached to each other (with a lockable interconnecting door), while the Barn is set apart on a lower level directly overlooking the pool. Each has its own terrace or pergola. Pischiano has an extensive area of meadow and woodland for use by guests.
Catered breaks are now available in late Spring and Autumn.
We grew to love Italy and decided 20 years ago that this was where we wanted to have our 'second home in the country' as it were.
Our children have therefore 'grown up' at Pischiano almost as much as they have done at our home in London and are, like us and like our friends, very attached to it and to the area.
We have in short created a family home which reflects the distinctive feel of a place which is much loved and which we know our guests find particularly simpatico!

We loved the location, the beautiful surroundings; quiet and peaceful but not isolated and within easy reach of the village and the nearest town.
The countryside is beautiful, the local towns particularly attractive and the area has something different to offer at every season and can therefore be enjoyed all year round.
The joy of being in a wonderful old house in an absolutely wonderful location!
"Pischiano exceeded our expectations in fact..such an inspirational house and setting."
“Had a lovely peaceful time, wonderful location and lovely farmhouse. Thanks”
"The road up to Pischiano proved to be a nightly wildlife spotting expedition, we saw a wild boar, 2 porcupines, several deer, badgers and something that we haven't put a name to yet but might have been a pine marten. The walk to the monastery was fantastic-and of course the kids loved the pool !
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday!"
"It's the kind of place that you think no longer exists. The kind that, when you think about it, in that spare moment of the day to day grind, makes you smile. This place can only create happy memories."
"OK, so it's a bit corny but Pischiano has that effect on me."

"We loved the Barn...great to find a holiday property with sharp knives and a knife sharpener! Overall the property was well equipped and had been fitted out with care and thought. Pischiano feels like an idyll right at the end of the track. It is! Yet it is within an easy drive of the local town with all amenities including a fantastic restaurant (I am sure there is more than one!). We saw wild boar piglets and also 2 porcupine weaving their way drunkenly home one night. One or twice we got up early to walk some of the trails that run by the property before it got too hot, but otherwise spent lazy days by the lovely pool. We were very lucky to be staying at the same time as the owners Suzanna and Nicky who were very kind and helpful and also very knowledgeable about the local area. We had a wonderful week and hope to be back.

We were hoping for the authentic Tuscan farmhouse with a pool that felt remote but close enough to a town not to feel isolated - and Pischiano exceeded our expectations. It is located up in the hills with breath-taking views down the valley towards the village of Montagna and the mountains beyond. It is right on the ancient pilgrim tracks that wind through the mountains, so it is perfect for people who might want to combine lazing by a pool with some walking.
The "Barn" was well fitted out and furnished nicely. There is a vine covered terrace overlooking the pool that means you can keep an eye on children in the pool while reading in the shade. The local town Sansepolcro has a good museum with the famous Piero Della Francesca paintings. Other Tuscan towns are easily accessible. The surrounding area has some amazing drives if that's what your into.
There is a lovely couple who maintain things and came to check the pool regularly - and who were a great source of information about the area.
Pischiano has beautiful, well equipped accommodation in a very secluded part of Italy. It's very quiet and peaceful. The pool is lovely and the area is great for walking. We had a lovely time there with two young children. Sansepulcro is also well worth a visit.
