Farmhouse near Almancil, Quinta do Lago, Algarve, Portugal - Peaceful Location

Beautiful restored typical Algarvian Formhouse. Once a delightful family home, a two storey villa has retained a homely atmosphere. Situated in a peaceful location, with outstanding views of the surrounding areas (Faro, Quarteira, Almancil and the sea), it is quiet and tranquil without being totally isolated. The villa has excellent facilities and is comfortable, spacious, and decorated in an authentic rustic style. Rooms are furnished to a high standard and the lounge has lovely French doors that lead on to an attractive shady area and to the lovely garden, good sized swinming pool, with a coverd barbecue area and children´s swing and slide shaded by olive tree. The beach resorts of Vale do Lobo and Vilamoura are about a 10m drive making this villa a great base for a larger group who want plenty of choice of activities and spacious property. The villa is close to plenty of very good restaurants and supermarkets.

Notes on accommodation: The House is very suitable for children due to its secure and spacious grounds. It also has an outdoor play area with swings.There are 3 extra beds available at an additional cost of 100€ per week each bed.The thick stone walls and huge flagstone floors ensure the interior is cool even in the hottest months but there are a number of fans in the house should the need arise.Please note;to the rear of the property is a small annex apartment with its own private driveway and entrance,where the maid who services the house lives. She is unobtrusive,discrete and clean and look after the property during your stay without intruding or spoiling the privacy and enjoyment of guests during their stay. Maid service iseither 2 ,3 or 5 times per week depending on the needs of the clients and what you has been agreed with the owner (and the size of the group ).Linen is changed once per week and towels are changed twice a week. Outside: Large shaded terraces with 2 large tables and chairs, ideal for meals outside with covered barbecue area and children´s swing and slide shaded by a large olive tree and a wood house for children to play, yet offers a superb elevated position in substantial grounds with views to Faro, Quarteira and the sea. The property has a superb 12m pool and a beautiful garden with lovely trees. Sunbeds with cushions and parasols provided.

Amazing Week! Amazing Villa! Amazing Host!

Well what can I say, what a week!

Jenny was amazing from start to finish. From booking airport transfers and excursions to suggesting restaurants and things to do.

The villa is absolutely stunning with everything you could possibly want including a small football pitch, table football, ping pong and a huge pool.

The supermarket is just up the road and we hired a car so that we could drive and take advantage of the amazing beaches and golf nearby.

Cant reccomend this villa enough, we will definitely be back next year.

Thank you Jenny for letting us stay at your lovely farmhouse

We had a lovely stay at this beautifully restored farmhouse. There were 10 of us travelling from 3 generations, and the 6 bedrooms and 2 reception rooms gave us plenty of space. The accommodation has so much more character than a typical Algarve villa, and we absolutely loved it there.

Outside, the garden and the pool are impeccably kept and there are views to the sea near Vale do Lobo. There was an extra cost for heating the pool but that was well worthwhile for us in early April. The house and garden are very secure with electric gates, a security system and a lovely old safe. The gardener/handyman, Franco, lives within the grounds but is very unobtrusive.

Further afield, I was very happy to find that there are lots of countryside walks in the Sitio dos Quartos area and a spur of the Via Algaviana goes near to the house. Almancil and the market town of Loulé are close by, the A22 gives easy access to most of the rest of the Algarve, and Faro Airport and the new Mar Shopping Centre are just a short drive away.

All of the above was very good, but the best bit was the owner, Jenny. There did not seem to be any limit to what she would do to help us enjoy our stay, from waiting until late when we arrived, to promptly fixing the WiFi, and to recommending wonderful local restaurants. She even helped me with my Portuguese!

So again, thank you very much, Jenny, for letting us stay at your grandmother's house (Casa da Avó) and for helping to make our holiday so enjoyable.

A wonderful place to stay

This restored farmhouse was perfect for our extended family (ages 1 to 64)

The location and gardens were beautiful and there was plenty of space for us all to play and relax. Jenny, the owner, was extremely pleasant and helpful which made our stay even better.

We would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from it all but still be in easy driving distance from shops, airport, beaches and other Algarve delights!

Fabulous stay in the Algarve

Casa de Avo is the ideal place for a large family to stay in the Algarve region of Portugal. Situated between Loule and Faro, this hillltop villa provides views of the Atlantic Ocean, full kitchen, patios, grills, and many other amenities.

The owners are attentive and multi lingual, making the arrangement perfect.

6 adults, 4 children and 3 babies were very easily accommodated within this Villa, and Jenny did as much as possible to make our stay more comfortable. She met us on our first night and went through all the information regarding the farmhouse. We had a bit of trouble with the transfers as the sub contracted transfer company couldnt find the villa, but one call to jenny she was en route to collect us. I would recommend hiring a car for your stay as it is a lengthy walk to the shops and local towns. The Villa itself is very beautiful, spacious with ample of room inside and out, large pool, small football pitch, large BBQ area. Would also recommend the water park 10 mins away (Aquashow) highly, we went there twice during our stay. Overall a 5 star villa! Thanks again Jenny.

Stunning, beautiful villa.

My family and I, a group of 10 adults spent two wonderful weeks at this stunning villa. Jenny the owner met us at the airport and showed us the way to the villa and then a guided tour of the villa. Very good and personal service. The villa is 20 minutes from Faro and within easy reach of shops and beaches. Car hire is necessary but driving around is easy. The views were stunning, the pool is big, although the heating (paid extra) wasn't very good and stopped a couple of times so never really heated up, although the heating of the pool is managed by the property company not the owner. Plenty of space to relax and chill out. Outside BBQ, and games areas along with outdoor eating areas. Maid was lovely and came around often to change towels and bedding. Housekeeper lives onsite in a separate house, so any issues can be dealt with immediately. We would highly recommend this villa and would certainly be booking again. Thanks to Jenny and her team for making our stay very enjoyable.

There are several water-parks in the area, Aquashow is one that is about 5 kms from the villa it has bird shows, parrot shows and a gigantic wave pool.

Go-karting in Almancil.

Boat trips, fishing and diving in the Marina of Vilamoura

8 kms from the villa.

Zoomarine family park with marine world, dolphines, seal lions and parrot shows. You can also swim with the dolphines, 25 kms from villa.

Horse ridding stables close by in Vale de Eguas, 5 minutes drive.

Historical interests such as the town of Estoi with it's Roman ruins and Palace is 12 kms distance.
