Beautifully Renovated Apartment in Warsaw’s Spectacular Old Town

Updated: 10-Oct-2016
Apartment in Warsaw, Poland - Just Steps From The Royal Castle, Old Town Market Square and Opera

A beautifully renovated 1st floor flat with balcony offering superb accommodation. Ideally situated to take full advantage of Warsaw’s many cultural, historical and social delights. Located within a historic building – the site of one of Poland’s courageous free presses during the German occupation. The living rooms face onto the 17th century Carmelite Church with open views up to the Opera. The bedrooms at the back face a quiet, private courtyard with mature trees and lilac bushes. Miodowa Street is a continuation of the ‘Royal Way’ - Warsaw’s most elegant palace lined street which runs from the Royal Castle and is filled with coffee-houses, shops and restaurants.

The accommodation offers a large comfortable sitting room. Dining room has a small work area with internet access. The double bedroom has a king sized bed and twin room has a sofa bed for a 3rd person. The bathroom has a corner jacuzzi bath. Fully equipped architect designed kitchen. 2 hrs from Krakow by train.

About the Owner

I am half Polish (my Father came from Lvov), half Scottish - but brought up in the UK and I have to confess to not speaking any Polish (apart from basics). We visited Poland first in 1989 and fell completely in love with it. I think that those with Polish blood do feel a pull - and I am always thrilled at how many guests (and most are more intrigued rather than having family ties) also fall for Warsaw and Poland.

My children loved the apartment when they were young teenagers because they could step straight out of the apartment into a capital city centre and they adored the freedom and adventure of that. It says a lot for Warsaw that we were happy for them to explore the town on their own.

I don't live there full time but my brother and nephew do. They manage the apartment for me.

Guestbook comments from the owner

'This is a beautiful flat and the situation is utterly perfect! We had never realised Warsaw was so lovely. Keep it quiet as we will definitely be back' - PJP. Sept 2005

'I could not get a better place to live during my last visit to Poland at the end of Nov 05. The location of the apartment is ideal - in the middle of Warsaw just steps from the Old Town and yet the bedrooms are very quiet and relaxing. I got everything I wanted - superior accommodation with modern amenities, elegant interior design, great choice of transportation, walking distance to most attractions and many restaurants. I will not waste my time looking for anything else in Warsaw for my next visit to Poland. Thank you for your hospitality too!' Dr. M. Laster. California.

'We loved the apartment and we loved Warsaw. Everything was just perfect' Stevenson Family, UK

'The apartment was wonderful. We were so impressed by the comfortable beds, the appointment and the lovely colours' Mrs Gaslin, US 2008

This was our first time in Warsaw - my adult daughter and I - and we loved it. Friendly people, interesting walks and lots of good quality, low price restaurants to choose from. The apartment was well furnished, secure, clean, quiet and with excellent access to the Old Town and lots of places of interest. Taxi's are very cheap so there is no excuse for taking longer trips about Warsaw, for example the Rising Museum. The history of Warsaw is incredible - their plight during the second world war and cold war period is especially moving. This city is a great place to visit and the apartment an excellent place to stay. Definitely recommended.

Within a few minutes walk are many characterful restaurants – the gourmet Fukier’s in The Old Market Square, Le Regina in the New Town or the 5* Bristol (a 5 minute walk). Fabulous Thai, Chinese, Indian, Middle Eastern and specialist Pierogi restaurants. In the summer, dining is outside or, if you prefer, in the cool, candle-lit darkness of the old world Central European restaurants. Poland’s patisserie and coffee house tradition is omnipresent - from the streets to the parks!

Further Details:

There are innumerable ways to spend days in Warsaw – visiting the magnificent castles, palaces, churches, parks, museums, operas and theatres or wandering around the 18th century University area. There is the picturesque shopping the length of the Royal Way – the route to Europe’s only unaltered neo-classical park, the Lazienki, with its exquisite Palace on the Water. A stroll here, pausing for coffee and patisserie is a joy.

There are more recent historical landmarks – the Warsaw Ghetto Monument and the recently opened museum of the Warsaw Uprising. There's the Marie Curie Museum, art treasures at the National Museum, Modern Art at the Ujazdowski Castle, exhibitions at Poland’s foremost Zacheta Gallery, the Chopin Museum and the Botanical Gardens by the Old Observatory.

The wooded banks of the Vistula, one of the two natural city-centre riverbanks left in Europe are fabulous for walks or bicycling and just a few minutes walk from the apartment.

Within easy reach of the city are stunning country palaces and flower decked manor houses. Chopin’s birthplace at Zelazowa Wola and dozens of horse riding centres echoing Poland’s great cavalry tradition.

At the vast expanse of nearby Zalew Zergrzynski there’s every water sport – and for the brave, parachuting at Chrcynno.

Polands weather is wonderfully varied. Christmas and New Year are nearly always snowbound. The snowfalls, blue skies, dry air and hard frosts freeze the Vistula into a sheet of ice. April brings a dramatic, if unpredictable rise in temperature. There could be a heat-wave or blustery winds. Late Spring is usually warm and sunny (18-25 centigrade). Warsaw Summers are hot and sunny. The golden Autumn is wonderful as the maple trees turn burnished gold in the autumn sunshine.

Below the apartment is a small quiet Patisserie serving hand made doughnuts, pastries and its own coffee during the day. It belongs to the internationally renowned A. Blikle Company, family owned since its foundation in 1869 and long regarded as Poland’s finest. Outside: From the small balcony one can stand and watch the passers by. There are privately maintained residents gardens to the rear of the building which offer shady, peaceful seating - in the heart of Poland’s capital city!
