Perfect

We have just returned from Harbours Edge and are already planning our next trip , we simply cannot wait to return ! Having elderly relatives with us it was an ideal location being right in the heart of Fowey and only a few yards walk to the wonderful shops , restaurants and old Quay. The house itself is beautiful a real home from home with everything you need, not forgetting the stunning views across the estuary to Polruan. You can spend hours sitting on the balcony just watching the hive of activity that goes on every day. It also has the added luxury of a private courtyard where you can eat Al fresco while watching the boats mooring at the nearby quay. Fowey has loads to offer and one of our favorite activities is a walk along the Esplanade to Readymoney Beach and along the cliffs towards Polkerris, the views are amazing and if you are lucky you may get to see a pod of Dolphins in the estuary! The owners have done everything possible to make Harbour's Edge a wonderful place to stay, we will definitely go back.

Wow!

This is all about location.This delightful house is well equipped, clean and well maintained but you just have to go out on to the balcony to appreciate what it is all about.We spent many an hour there looking out on to the estuary and on to the pontoon where the yachts tie up to access the town. The lovely small town offers plenty of choice in places to eat and if you enjoy fish this is the place to be.The fish is locally caught and fresh but you can also BBQ in the private courtyard overlooking the water. The area is rich in gardens to visit and National Trust venues Without a doubt this is a wonderful place to stay and a return visit is a must. We have no hesitation in rating this property 5 out of 5.

"Amazing"

A truly amazing property and location, Harbours Edge has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Spotless and very well kept. We had a reassuring call from the owner regarding the high tide. Fabulous views, while away the hours by watching the boats come and go. Ideal location right by the shops and pubs, but very quiet and peaceful. I would definitely recommend Harbours Edge to my friends. Hope to revisit soon.

2nd stay in six months

The fact that we have returned within six months of our first visit says it all. Harbours Edge really is just perfect. The house is so well equipped and very clean. The perfect place to relax. To sit on the balcony watching passing boats or spend time crabbing from the courtyard, whilst having a BBQ. Local restaurants less than a two minute walk away. Cannot recommend enough.

Great location

Nicely decorated and great views from this property - the boys loved crabbing from the patio and it was nice that the owner kept us informed of the weather impact (Flooding) etc and checked we arrived okay.

Lovely balcony and superb location. Would recommend.

We fell in love with this property the moment we set eyes on it. I think we had bought it before we even set foot in the house having just walked into the stunning private courtyard with its fantastic views and its proximity to the water.

Special interest holidays:

Fowey hosts a week long Literary Festival each May (previously known as the Du Maurier Festival). The Fowey River Classics Regatta is held in early August. The Fowey Royal Regatta is a week long festival held every August with yacht racing, Gig racing, Red Arrows display team and a Grand firework display with many other attractions during the week. Other local places of interest include the Eden Project, Llanhydrock and the Lost gardens of Helligan. Please contact for website addresses.

Coast/Beach:

Local beaches include Readymoney Cove, a few minutes walk from the town centre. Other beaches at Coombe Hawne and Great Lantic Bay can be accessed from the south west coastal path, or by boat.

Travel:

Fowey is approximately 155 miles from Bristol and can usually be reached from there in two and a half hours.

Distances:

The nearset large town is St Austell approximately 7 miles away and Plymouth lies 33 miles to the East. The Cathedral City of Truro lies approximately 20 miles to the West.

Further Details:

Fowey has all the facilities associated with a small town including restaurants and pubs, two banks (one with ATM), local stores, Post Office, delicatessen, bakers, butchers, fishmongers and numerous specialist shops selling high quality produce and goods. There are two yacht clubs for visiting yachtsmen and women, The Royal Fowey Yacht Club and the Fowey Gallants Sailing Club. In addition there is a water taxi and you can hire motorboats, canoes etc.

Harbour's Edge is a beautiful house and as the name suggests it's right on the water. It has a large private courtyard and a separate balcony over the river. It's immediately opposite the main pontoon at Albert Quay which gives you the best possible position to watch all that's going on in Fowey harbour. The perfect place for people and boat watching. I could just sit and watch it all day …in fact I often do ! The house is also a great jumping off place for exploring the higgledy piggledy streets and the hidden treasures of the town and the coastline beyond. You'll have all the ingredients for a traditional seaside family holiday.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The property benefits from its own frape outhaul mooring and has ladder access to the water and the foreshore. At low tide the water level drops to expose the river bed. Between March and October there is a pontoon from Albert Quay which is immediately in front of the property. This provides an ever changing vista of boating activity on the water. The pontoon is suitable for short term mooring of yachts and motorboats and is a haven for children 'crabbing'. Outside: Large private courtyard, with teak dining table and chairs seating up to 8 people. Parasol. Large gas fired barbeque. Bench seat. Due to the proximity of the waters edge guests need to consider the safety of children and minors, who should be properly supervised at all times. Utility Room: Washer / tumble drier, fridge freezer. Boathouse storage area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels are provided. The property is cleaned weekly on the Friday changeover day. Guests to bringing their own towels for use on the beach. Other: Large boat house providing storage space for bicycles and other equipment.
