Fig Tree House is a privately owned and locally registered (15963/AL) rental licensed property. It's a beautifully appointed, spacious, detached, Moorish styled Algarvian villa with a large, mosaic tiled, deep swimming pool, 5 m x 10 m over 2 m depth. The villa has Air conditioning and WiFi internet access TV and has beautiful well established gardens. Located in the small hamlet community of Fazenda Caravela - a much sort after rural location in Alcantarilha surrounded by orange and lemon groves. This is a hill top setting with views to the Monchique Mountains and towards the coast. Fig Tree House is a short drive from the historic town of Silves, which has a good selection of shops, supermarkets, local farmers market, restaurants and cafes. Just a 15 mins drive to the beach, golf, water parks, other sports and tourist attractions we are centrally located for all the region has to offer. The villa sleeps 6 consisting 2 large double bedrooms - the master bedroom en-suite and 1 bedroom with twin singles. All bedrooms have French windows onto the gardens. The villa is maintained to a high standard by the owners.

Fantastic holiday

We had a wonderful stay at Fig Tree House over the May/June half term break with our 3 children. Sean and Douglas really take care of the villa and it is well equipped and well decorated. The pool is the perfect size and the villa, being dual aspect, means you can take advantage of a breeze or move in and out of the sun. The only thing that was a bit patchy was the TV as it sometimes froze on the kids in the morning but it worked fine in the evening. We would love to come back.

Wonderfull villa centraly located in Algarve

A fabulous fortnight!!

We have been home a week from the beautiful Fig Tree house and are pining for a return as soon as possible. The location is superb for a peaceful break and the villa and gardens are beautifully maintained and incredibly well equipped. Sean and Douglas' attention to detail is first class and nothing is too much trouble in their desire to make your stay as idyllic possible. We would not hesitate to recommend Fig Tree house to anyone looking for a relaxing villa holiday that is a cut above the rest. Thanks again, Martin,Claire,Liv,Callum and Bob.

A lovely quiet well appointed villa.

We wanted somewhere quiet with a nice pool and good facilities in the villa. We had all of that and more. There was almost no traffic noise, the peace was amazing. There was plenty of places to sit, read a book and enjoy the views and sun. Everything in the villa was well appointed and spotlessly clean. We certainly hope to be back again.Having re read this review it does not give Douglas and Sean justice to all the hard work they put into making this a beautiful home.

Yet another great holiday for us at Fig Tree House. The weather wasn't the best this time around, but this did not stop us enjoying a thoroughly relaxing stay.

As we have come to expect, the villa is clean and very well maintained. There have been subtle enhancements made to the villa's décor and TV/Internet entertainment systems since our last visit. The owners are very proud of their villa, and rightly so.

As ever, our friends Doug and Sean were very welcoming and are also great company, happy to join us for some food, beer and a glass (or two) of wine… we very much look forward to our next visit.

Just Perfect

We have been going to the Algarve for the last 15 years always in a villa, this is the best. Villa, pool, gardens & hosts just perfect.

Villa spotless, homely with everything you could need or want.

Pool & gardens immaculate.

Douglas & Sean welcoming, friendly, there when needed but not intrusive.

A car is essential to visit the area, pop out for meals or pick up supplies for those days when you just want to relax at this wonderful villa. Thank you Douglas & Sean.

Armacao de Pera is the nearest coastal resort with beautiful beaches. It is just a 15 mins car drive away and there are bars, restaurants and shops. Boat hire for caves and grottos can be arranged here. There is also a local weekly market. The Pria Grande beach and nature reserve is in between Armacao de Pera and Gale. It has a beautiful long stretch of unspoilt coastline. With a natural lagoon and marshes, it is an ideal spot to watch Flamingos and other water fowl.


Faro airport is a 45 mins drive away via motorway. Car hire is essential and can easily be arranged for collection from the airport. Lisbon airport is approx a 2hrs 30 mins drive away via motorway. Both airports serviced by scheduled and budget airlines.


The historic Moorish town of Silves is a 15 minute drive. Alcantarilha, the coast, beaches, water parks and other tourist attractions are also a 15 min. drive. The stunning Monchique Mountain range is an attractive one hours drive through scenic Cork and Eucalyptus forest to the summit.

There are numerous banks and automated cash machines available throughout the local region. UK debit cards are accepted at most ATM's for the purposes of withdrawing from UK Bank accounts in euros. The nearest shopping centre is a 15 mins drive, containing a large supermarket, shops, fast food hall and multiplex cinema. Boat hire and other water sports activities are available in most coastal towns of the region. There are 3 water parks within a 15 mins drive from the villa.
