Our luxurious architect designed villa, is situated in a private corner of the magnificent Pont Royal golf and country club setting, with stunning views over the Luberon, and within half a kilometre of the village where there are shops and restaurants. High quality local materials of stone, terracotta, oak and forged iron have been used throughout the villa which all add to its special ambience and charm.

In the main house there are 3 bedrooms (2 with king-size beds and 1 with 2 single beds), large lounge/dining area, fully equipped kitchen which was remodelled in 2012, mezzanine with cloakroom and TV area, English satellite TV and multi-language cable TV including English, French, German and Italian channels, DVD; study area with free broadband and telephone calls to landlines in Western Europe.

Outside the master bedroom there is a wisteria and jasmine covered terrace with comfortable seating and coffee table - perfect for an early morning cup of tea!.

The separate guest annex, which overlooks the pool and garden, can only be rented in conjunction with the main house and comprises a large bedroom, ensuite shower room and kitchenette with cupboard space. A cot and/or put-u-up can also be provided for use in the annex. It is ideal for larger families, for grandparents on holiday with their children who want their own space, families sharing, those bringing a nanny or for teenagers wanting to be separate from parents!

The villa sleeps a maximum of 8 (excluding the cot and put-u-up) and is furnished and equipped to a very high standard.

Please note that a discount will be given if the annex is not required.

At the front of the property there is a small garden hedged in by black bamboo. A garage and additional parking for up to two cars provide safe and secure parking. The side garden contains an olive tree, rose and lavender bushes.

At the back of the property, in a private courtyard setting, lies the large pool and adjoining spacious jacuzzi with magnificent views of the Luberon and the village of Pont Royal. The pool and jacuzzi are fitted with an electrically operated cover which complies with the stringent AFNOR Safety Standards. A bed of lavender separates the pool from the covered terrace and barbecue. The covered dining terrace with table and chairs for 10 and the wisteria and jasmine covered terrace (outside the master bedroom) with coffee table and additional seating both offer shade when required, as do the mature pine trees by the side of the pool. The traditional built-in stone barbecue is ideal for preparing and cooking local produce while sampling one of the local wines.

There is a large sun terrace around the pool and plenty of garden furniture. When not relaxing, why not play table tennis or boules? The garden is professionally landscaped and maintained and there is an automatic watering system which ensures that the lawn and beds do not suffer in the intense Provencal sun. From the lawn area by the pool, a few steps will lead you down to the first terrace where the boules pitch can be found. Can there be a nicer way to spend a balmy summer evening - a friendly game of boules, a glass of wine and a glorious view of the Luberon? More steps will take you down to the second terrace where there are vines and a fig tree.

Various activities on site include a wave pool, swimming pool, two water chutes, horse riding, tennis, crazy golf, playgrounds and kids' clubs. These can all be booked at the Pierre et Vacances Reception in the village square.

Our villa is ideal for families, golfers, walking or cycling enthusiasts and also makes a perfect base for exploring the many historic cities and villages in the area including Avignon, Aix en Provence, Arles, Nîmes, St Remy, Cassis, the Luberon and the Camargue. If you are feeling lazy, our house also makes an excellent base for lounging by the pool. Wine enthusiasts can explore the many wine producing areas both close to Pont Royal and further afield. Don’t forget that Provence is known for its rosé wines but there are several excellent red and white wines also produced here including Château Neuf du Pâpe, Vacqueras and Gigondas, several of which can be found in the wine shop in the village. There are also several beaches in and around Marseille.

About The Owner

I live in England with my husband. We have 3 grown up children and 4 grandchildren. We spent much of our married life in rental accommodation, living and working overseas. I have always loved France and worked there for 2 years before getting married. As a family, we have spent several very happy holidays staying in other people's gîtes and as a result I believe I know what families are looking for when renting a house for their holidays.

Why The Owner chose Salon area

We love Pont Royal because of the fantastic facilities in the area. At present there is an 18 hole championship designed golf course in the Domaine and a new 6 hole course was completed in 2010. Apart from golf, you can hike in the Luberon or the Alpilles, rent a bicycle, play tennis, hire a canoe at Gordes or sample the many local wines. If you are an aspiring artist, the Provençal light and colours really are an inspiration.

Aix en Provence, Avignon and Arles are all within easy driving distance. There are some beautiful beaches within an hour's drive and the marina at Marseille boasts a great range of bars and restaurants.

There really is something for everyone here. The area is easily accessible with Marseille airport only 45 minutes drive away.

What makes this villa unique

Our property is situated in a quiet residential street less than 5 minutes walk from the bustle of the village square with its mini supermarket, newsagent, gift shops and restaurants.

It is very much our second home and we have furnished it as such, with good quality furnishings, some of which we bought while living abroad. The kitchen is very well equipped. There is plenty of space with a sitting room downstairs and a TV and computer area upstairs with an excellent selection of books and games. In addition to the swimming pool, table tennis table and boules pitch, we also have a large jacuzzi - one of the few to have one! We provide bats and balls for the table tennis, boules etc. and there are also plenty of toys for use in the pool.

Notes on accommodation: Our architect designed house has been built so that the bedrooms at the front of the house face the golf course (other side of the road) and the Alpilles while the living area at the rear overlooks the Luberon and the village of Pont Royal. There are two lounges as well as a dining area inside the villa, a covered dining terrace and traditional stone built BBQ outside as well as a further covered jasmine and wisteria covered terrace outside the master bedroom. The guest annex overlooks the pool and garden and can only be rented in conjunction with the main house and would be ideal for families requiring extra accommodation for grandparents, families holidaying together or for a nanny. The accommodation comprises a king-size bed, cot and a put-u-up, kitchenette with fridge, sink and crockery plus cupboard with shelves for clothes, together with a shower room. Outside, there is a single garage. The property has an electric gate and cars can be parked securely off street or in the garage. The garden is landscaped and leads down into the valley. There is a large private pool and spacious jacuzzi. The pool and jacuzzi are fitted with an electrically operated cover which complies with the stringent ANOR Safety Standards. There is also a table tennis table and boules pitch. Bats and balls are in a chest on the terrace together with various pool toys. A large sun terrace runs the length of the living area and there is a wisteria covered terrace outside the master bedroom with wicker sofa and coffee table. Flowers are planted in tubs on the master and garden terraces and in the garden in summer. There is a stone built in barbecue on the covered terrace outside the living area with great views over the Luberon and village of Pont Royal. An additional dining table seating 10 can also be found on the covered BBQ terrace. There is an excellent supply of garden furniture including loungers, deck chairs, benches and further tables and chairs. Utility Room: The utility cupboard in the kitchen is shelved and houses a washing machine and dryer, clothes dryer, ironing board and iron, laundry basket + pegs, vases, trays. Barbecue equipment etc. can also be found in this cupboard. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: The property is cleaned before every stay. Additional cleaning is provided at client's expense. Bed linen and towels included. Bed linen changed weekly. Towels can be washed when desired. Pool towels provided for a small charge. Other: Mezzanine: cloakroom; sofa, coffee table, two leather chairs, English satellite and multi language cable TV, DVD player. Study area has a good selection of books, games and DVDs. Free broadband & telephone access to Western European landlines .

Beautiful villa with lovely views

This villa is quite private, has plenty of space and is extremely well equipped. It really is like being home from home as everything you need is there. The fact that you do not need to pay for a fourth bedroom in the annex if you do not need it is an added bonus! There is a built in bbq and we spent many an evening enjoying the lovely views of the Luberon from the terrace. The furniture on both terraces is of a high quality and the sun loungers are very comfortable. The house is an easy five minute walk from the centre of the village where you will find a small supermarket and a couple of restaurants. The "welcome folder" provided very useful information about the house, restaurants and the immediate vicinity, not to mention very good ideas on various trips to be made. All in all, we had a wonderful holiday and will definitely be back next year.

Lovely Villa in a perfect setting

Family holiday with all 3 generations having a great time.

The Villa was perfect for our needs, lovely pool and jacuzzi, beautiful views, spacious accommodation, well equipped kitchen and all very clean.

Large patio areas were great for outdoor dining as well as relaxing.

The location is ideal, nice quiet and safe community with just a short walk to a few shops and restaurants.

Information sent prior to our arrival with the villa details, directions and local information was very useful and comprehensive.

The owner was very quick to respond to any queries we had and very helpful and friendly.

The Villa is close to lots of pretty villages and places to explore.

We hope to return!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much indeed for your kind review. Since adding the annex, we have found that the house suits several generations, allowing peace and quiet to those who want it! Although the centre of Pont Royal can get very busy and noisy at peak periods, our house is very well situated and certainly benefits from a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle, yet it is only a 5 minute stroll from the centre. As you know, our pool and jacuzzi are situated at the rear of the house to take advantage of the lovely views. This benefits us greatly as the houses on either side of us both have their pools in the front gardens, and we consequently enjoy significant privacy aided by the pine trees and hedges around our garden. I am delighted that you all enjoyed your holiday and we hope to see you back at Pont Royal in the future.

Beautiful well appointed property with very easy access from airport. Lots of sporting activities on the complex. Large pool for early morning swims, relaxing jacuzzi for later. Wonderful terrace with panoramic views perfect for cocktails and scenic dining, would definitely recommend

Paradise in Provence

Beautiful villa in a wonderful location with fabulous views to the Louberon. The villa is extremely well equipped and caters for all ages. We stayed in the annex, which is a wonderful addition giving that little bit of extra privacy. The barbecue terrace, with it's view to the Louberon, is a great place to relax with a glass of the excellent, local vin!

There is much to do in the area, whether you want sports activities, a bit of culture, visiting local markets or just relaxing over a good meal with great wines. Consequently, we highly recommend a holiday in this lovely villa.

The perfect house for a family holiday

This was our fourth family holiday in this villa and we again had really lovely and relaxing time. It made the perfect autumn half term- golden Provencal sunshine, the kids went in the wave pool, had horse riding lessons (all run inside Pont Royal), and Provence was quieter but still lovely bright and warm enough to eat and drink outside.

The house itself is as always beautiful, calm, and immaculate – comfortable beds, fluffy towels and plenty of space to relax with the family. We were really pleased in late October that it was still warm enough to enjoy lunch outside on the terrace and reading our books in the loungers around the pool. The children found plenty to entertain themselves in the house and garden- particularly going down into the valley at the bottom of the garden!

As you have discovered, summer is not the only good time to rent our house and it is so much easier to get around and visit all the great places in the area during the quieter months of the year. The fact that the garden is terraced and runs down to the valley gives children a great sense of freedom while they explore. As we like to entertain friends and family in Pont Royal out of season, we have tried to make the house as comfortable as possible and it is lovely to know that this is appreciated.

There are several beaches (both rocky and sandy) in or around Marseille which are about an hour's drive from the house. Cassis and Sanary sur Mer are both very attractive towns with harbours and beaches and make for a perfect day out for the family. The Camargue, with all its wild life, is also readily accessible by car and boasts a lovely long sandy beach at Les Saintes Maries de la Mer.


Marseille and Nîmes airports: 46 kilometres. Avignon airport is about 30 kms but there are fewer flights.

Eurostar and the TGV run to Avignon and Aix en Provence: 40 kilometres.

Nearest Ferry to the UK: Dieppe 860 kilometres.

Ferries run from Marseille to Corsica and North Africa.

Nearest motorway junction: A7, Junction 26, Sénas, a distance of 9 kilometres from the house.

Car recommended as there is an abundance of historical sites, beaches and vineyards to visit.


Mallemort (4 kilometres): includes large supermarket, banks, pharmacies, two butchers, fishmonger and several bakeries.

There are good supermarkets in all the surrounding towns.

Local markets include Pont Royal, Mallemort, Sénas, Salon de Provence, Isle sur la Sorgue, Avignon, Aix en Provence and Lourmarin

Arles, Nîmes, the Gorges de Verdon, are all tourist attractions and within comfortable driving distance.

Further Details:

The villa is situated in Pont Royal, which is close to Mallemort in Provence and overlooks the Luberon. It is approximately midway between Aix en Provence and Avignon and 46 kilometres from Marseille Airport. The villa is in an area known for its sun, food, wine, historic sites, beautiful villages perched on high hills and dramatic landscapes. There is an excellent zoo at Barben (20 minutes by car) and a large waterpark about 40 minutes drive. The Chateauneuf du Pape vineyards are about a 45 minute drive and there are several very good vineyards closer to hand. The Roman cities of Arles, Orange, Nîmes, Aix and Avignon are all near by and the coastal towns of Nice, Cannes and St Tropez are all within a 90 to 120 minute drive. In season, there are music and theatre festivals in Avignon and Aix and a popular piano festival takes place in nearby La Roque d'Antheron. Cultural outings can also be organised through the Tourist Office in the village.

Within Pont Royal, there is one small supermarket, two gift shops, one wine bar/shop, a newspaper shop and tourist information. There are also two restaurants and a tapas sports bar, notwithstanding the golf club restaurant and the restaurant in the Moulin de Vernegues, all of which are within walking distance. Other restaurants within easy driving distance range from a very popular creperie through traditional Provencal cuisine to Michelen starred restaurants. Local activities include cycling, golf, horse riding, mountain biking, large swimming pool, wave pool, two water chutes, tennis, walking and children's clubs and crèche where a certificate of vaccination may be required. These can all be organised through Reception (Pierre et Vacances) in the village. There will be charge to use the swimming or wave pool, water chutes etc. and a daily or weekly pass must be purchased.
