Perched on a hillside, overlooking the majestic hills of Valnerina, the sensuous landscape of Spoleto Valley, in full view of the romantic ruins of an ancient Lombard fortress, this fairytale 15th century country home is split into two charming units. Perfectly restored, using ancient materials, the property comes with all modern amenities. An 11 x 5m pool is set in a clearing in the olive grove, next to a flower-bedecked pergola and brass shower. Each unit has a private garden with patio/terrace with a view and has its own entrance. The short last section of the road leading to the house is unpaved ("strada bianca") , parking is just above the property or down by the pool-side. Flagstone steps lead down to the front entrance of the larger unit for 6 guests and further down to the entrance of the smaller unit for four guests. Guests may rent one unit or both. The whole place is an ideal place for two families, or simply a large group of friends.
London-based Americans in love with Italy.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2006
We had looked for a house in Central Italy for three years, searching high and low in Umbria, Tuscany and Le Marche until we found this house and instantly fell in love with it,. We love Central Italy for its unique combination of great landscapes, history, culture, art, food and wine.
The property is uniquely positioned on a hill and offers blissful seclusion and incredible views anywhere you look, yet it is only 5 minutes by car from the centre of Spoleto, which is one of the prettiest and liveliest hill towns in Central Italy.
Delightful property on a hillside outside Spoleto, the owners are extremely helpful and conscientious; the property is spotlessly kept to a very high standard, fully equipped and very tastefully furnished. The pool is blissfully peaceful and secluded, being accessed down the hill through scenic olive groves. We had a wonderful stay here and have no hesitation in recommending the property for a taste of Umbrian life.
Spoleto is an unspoilt and authentic Italian town, and the Appenines and national park are within easy reach to the East with spectacular scenery. To the west lies a softer countryside. The local winegrowing properties are well worth a visit, too.
