About the Owner

Hello

I have owned Villa St Elias since 2005 and have had many wonderful family holidays there since. Having travelled the world I was looking for an unspoilt place with both mountains and a beautiful coastline in which to buy and believe I have found the perfect place in Croatia.

Thanks for a fantastic holiday! The villa and Orebic are brilliant. Just wanted to pass on our thanks. Marvellous!

Back (sadly) from Croatia! We had a fabulous time and felt we had seen some of the real Croatia. The house was perfect for our needs - the bedrooms worked out well and the terraces were a great extra living space. We found some lovely places to visit and eat at and are all now missing burek and squid! Thanks for letting us stay in your house - we had a wonderful family break and would love to return! Very comfortable accommodation for 10 with beautiful views and peaceful country sounds. Easy access for trips to Korcula, Dubrovnik and Mljet. Korcula worth several trips by foot to the town and by car/bike to Lumbarda for good beaches and excellent Grk wine. Gentle walks from the villa along the slopes of the mountain to Karmen and to the Franciscan monastery. NS

A perfect week in Orebic

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week in Villa St Elias. Excellent location, very private, quiet, so peaceful. Beautiful views over to Korkula from the top floor balcony. All the 5 large bedrooms had access to a balcony the beds were comfortable, plenty of towels provided, always plenty of hot water There was a good size bathroom on all three floors and all fitted out to a high standard. Downstairs had a kitchen, large dining area and comfortable lounge area with patio doors leading out on to a large terrace, over looking the garden, with two tables and plenty of chairs, good size barbeque, lovely for alfresco dining. Katja the lady who looks after the villa was lovely, very helpful and speaks good English, she lives up the lane from the villa.

It is a 10 minute walk from the villa to the centre of Orebic, where there are lots of good restaurants, our favourite was Mimbelli excellent food and service, our favourite café with good internet was on the main road called Best Bar.

We drove to Ston and did the walls, loved Viganj, and Loviste. We went over to Korkula on the boat for lunch twice. There was so much to do have got to go again as a week is not long enough. Our first time in Croatia didn't realise how beautiful it is.

Communication with Chris the owner was excellent, and directions to the property were perfect.

Location

From the Owner

Orebic and the surrounding area have developed in terms of tourism considerably since 2005 with excellent outdoor activities, water sports and wine tours on offer. There are many new restaurants in Orebic and the quality is now rivalling the larger more established towns such as Dubrovnik and Korcula. In my opinion Orebic and the Peljesac peninsula offer the perfect combination of relaxation, culture and interesting things to do. The best thing is that Orebic remains a totally unspoilt, relaxed town and there are still many more places to discover on each visit.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

The villa is 10 minutes walk to the beaches which have been declared some of the best in Croatia. The coastline is made up of long sandy and pebble beaches with numerous small coves that have the shallow crystal clear waters of the Adriatic lapping the shore.

Travel:

Nearest airport is Dubrovnik which is 120kms from Orebic (approximately 90 minutes drive along a beautiful coastal road. Budget airlines fly to Dubrovnik, Split and Zadar. Car hire is recommended but not essential. The fast motorway is now open from Split to Ploce where you can get the car ferry to Trpanj on the Peljesac Peninsula and then just 20 mins drive to Orebic.

Distances:

Veganj is a few kilometres along the coast which is Croatia‘s premier windsurfing and kitesurfing location. There are many other small villages along the Peljesac peninsula. The island of Korcula with its walled medieval town of the same name is 20 minutes ferry journey. Other islands such as Mijet (national park), Hvar and Lastovo can also be reached by ferries or private boat hire. The beautiful UNESCO world heritage city of Dubrovnik, the jewel of the Adriatic is 90 minutes drive away.

Facilities

From the Owner

Our villa is located on the lower slopes of Mount St Illija (St Elias) and is therefore in a quiet location and enjoys unspoilt views. We are only a few minutes from the centre of Orebic and the coast so everything is still within easy reach. We are also very lucky to have a wonderful neighbour who looks after the property and will meet you when you arrive and advise you on places to go and other useful local information.
