About the Owner

Hi! My name's Kay Newton, a Yorkshire lass who has lived here on the island for the past 29 years. I have been married to James for the past 23. He is originally from Cape Town, South Africa.

We have two boys, Max 22 and Tom 19, who were both born here on the island. Max is now following a career in catering and Tom is at Uni in the UK. We are loving our empty nest!

We love to share our home with others. We understand the need for privacy and at the same time we are available to share our local knowledge if its required.

We share the swimming pool - yet you will only find us in the water very early on or late at night whilst you are sleeping!

So good I went back

I had a short stay in Cam Jaume in April and enjoyed it so much I decided to come back in June. The house is well equipped and cool. I enjoyed cooking and eating meals in the summer kitchen overlooking the garden and the pool. The master bedroom is delightful and has a lovely view over the orange grove. The property is peaceful but has easy access to Inca and roads to Palma and other attractions. A great place for couples and families. Thank you Kay for the warm welcome.

Perfect break!

The family was in need of a relaxing holiday this year and this is exactly what we got.The house was delightful, our hosts were friendly,helpful and welcoming and the pool area relaxing. The location is well positioned for exploring the island with some lovely restaurants, markets and beaches near by and again our hosts were well informed and happy to share recommendations about great days out/places to eat. We would definitely return and recommend to friends. Thank you!

Happy Holiday

Can Juame is conveniently situated off the Motorway within easy reach of supermarkets and restaurants. From this location you can navigate around the island quite easily with the excellent main road system, although the minor roads are not so good!

Kay and her family made us very welcome and the cottage was in excellent condition with everything catered for, right down to towels provided for the beach). Kitchen good with all appliances you need and the bedrooms have a/c and very comfortable BIG beds.

The outside cooking area was well used during our stay and the pool a big hit with the children( and me)!

We would recommend this property to our friends and family and indeed are looking to return some time in the future.

Thanks Kay and family (and Plenty the dog) for a fantastic holiday.

SO comfortable

Kay and James have a lovely cottage on the outskirts of Inca. Plenty of space for everybody because the building, although old, has been thoughtfully restructured and laid out (and was their own home for a long time). In fact it feels and looks like a modern house.

The kitchen was great - everything you need, all to hand (have you ever wanted an extra sharp knife and couldn't find one? Not here - one of their sons is a chef), loads of room to work, sit and eat - AND there's a large dining room. The lounge was warm and comfortable too.

Bedrooms are a good size, with comfortable beds, and there are two bathrooms. And the shutters! I know it's a Spanish (or Continental) thing but it caught me by surprise - it's so easy to sleep well, and late, when you have the shutters closed; I loved it.

The grounds are extensive, with an orchard, chickens, a vegetable garden, large driveway and parking area, and of course a social area with lawn, swimming pool and outside eating area. Actually, the latter was well appointed too, having oven, grills, a large refectory table and storage space, whilst being open on 2 sides so that you felt as if you were sitting in the garden. It's a delightful way to be outdoors and relax.

Kay and James live in a smaller house at the back of the cottage (or perhaps a smaller cottage at the back of the house?) and between the two are the very useful laundry facilities and a 3rd bathroom.

And then there are Plenty and Paddy, two friendly little dogs who seem to spend all day playing and being delightful. If you like dogs you'll love these two.

I think what I'm trying to say here is that I really like the place. It was friendly and comfortable, separate yet accessible, well appointed but not cluttered. The island is small and Inca is almost central, so nothing was really terribly far away, but this is still out of town, amongst the farms. I could imagine it being an ideal location for a retreat - up to 8 people getting away from the crowds and never having to venture out if they didn't want to. Equally, it would suit cyclists (and that's a very popular activity on the island), being private, secure and spacious.

And Kay is like your Mum :-).

We do actually have three bathrooms - one shower room and toilet outside, great for using if your wet from the pool and don't want to go inside the house. We have a retreat planned for January and another couple in the pipe-lines for May. We hope to see you again soon.

Holiday at Can Jaume

Our party of six, four adults and two boys aged 14 and 11 spent a most enjoyable and memorable holiday at Kay and James Newton's property near Inca, Mallorca.

The weather was extremely hot but the villa was ideal as the lovely pool and the outdoor eating area meant we could spend most of our time out of doors.Air-conditioning in the bedrooms meant we slept well despite the heat.

The accommodation was excellent ~ the two main bedrooms had large beds and all bedrooms had spacious wardrobes.The kitchen was well-equipped with crockery and utensils and the dishwasher was a great help.The TV received a good selection of UK programmes so nobody missed their favourite shows!

The location near Inca meant near access to supermarkets and Kay introduced me to an excellent butcher, important when you are self-catering. It was also a very convenient location for exploring and sightseeing with access to beaches less than 30 minutes drive.

The booking process was very easy with quick, personal response from Kay at all times.

Kay and James are excellent hosts, their presence nearby was reassuring and help was always at hand if needed.We enjoyed a delicious paella which Kay helped us to shop for and James prepared for us .

With my husband, my daughter and son-in-law and two grandsons I greatly benefited from a most relaxing and enjoyable holiday and would readily recommend this villa.

From the Owner

We bought Can Jaume because of its potential. It needed restoring. James is a quantity surveyor by trade. We have restored can Jaume with lots of love and care over the past ten years. Turning it into a home for both the family and our guests. It is easily accessible to all the island - we are very central. We are just two minutes away from the motorway. This is a local part of the island. No tourist hotels complexes for miles!

Special interest holidays:

The farm is superbly located to allow visitors to enjoy leisure or activity holidays. All major sports can be enjoyed and cycling routes, sailing, mountain walking, hiking, horse riding, pony trekking and golf facilities are all within easy reach. Painters are welcome and will enjoy the proximity to Mallorca's rural panorama.


Main beaches north and south are within a 20 minute drive.


Palma airport 20 mins. Inca train station 5 min. Car hire is recommended. Taxi service will collect from Inca.


Inca 3km. Palma 25 km. Pollensa 20km. Alcudia 25km

Further Details:

Inca is a thriving market town with all major facilities such as supermarkets, banks, post office and chemist shops. Cellar restaurants and wine bodegas are also popular venues for visitors. Inca market every Thursday.

At Can Jaume we are known for our Yorkshire and South African hospitality. Our paella market trip, cookery lesson and devouring of, have become a must do part of the holiday.

Children love to come and 'hire' out the chicken coop, caring and feeding the chickens as well as eating their eggs.

We enjoy living off the land. We grow our own vegetables. Lots of fruit trees: orange, lemons, grapefruit, mandarins, almonds, plums, persimmons, apricots, cherries, peaches, figs and grapes. We have our own honey and eggs too! Our BBQ area is a favorite with all who visit.

We never use the pool whilst you are at home, so although we have to say it's a shared pool - it is actually all for you!
