Apartment in Dolores, Nr. La Marina and Guardamar, Alicante - 2nd (Top) Floor Apartment with Large Private Solarium, 20 mins from Beach

A 2 bedroom apartment situated within easy walking distance of the centre, but on the outskirts, of a small, busy, typically Spanish town as yet little affected by tourism. Very well-equipped and with full air conditioning/heating. Spacious terrace off living room and large roof-top solarium (with built-in barbecue), shared pool, allocated parking space in secure basement garage and lift to all floors. Extensive lovely views overlooking the farmlands and fincas of the ‘Huerta’, with the mountains of the Sierra del Crevillent to the North, and towards the coast at La Marina and Guardamar to the East and South. Close to the towns of Algorfa, Almoradi, Catral and Elche, the apartment provides ideal accommodation when visiting friends and relatives in this area, or for a relaxing holiday near the lovely beaches of the Costa Blanca and superb golf courses. Close by is the El Hondo wetlands nature reserve with its rich variety of bird life.

About Tim and Jacqui Kettle

Having lived much of our working life in a remote west country village, we moved to Dorset 10 years ago and are enjoying the environment near the coast and the New Forest. We are retired but keep busy with our family, garden and allotment, also various activities including bell-ringing and choral singing, and doing voluntary work in our local community. We visit Dolores twice a year and always find it a very relaxing experience.

Why Tim and Jacqui Kettle chose Torrevieja Area

After viewing many properties on large developments, we chose our apartment because it was in a typical small Spanish town little influenced by foreign incomers and tourism. We loved the atmosphere of Dolores from the start and it grows on us more and more each time we visit.

What makes this apartment unique

Dolores is well situated for a variety of activities, being only a short drive from beautiful beaches, attractive and interesting towns, and several prestigious golf courses. From our apartment roof terrace there are extensive views of the surrounding rural area and the mountains. Orange, lemon, pomegranate and almond groves and palm nurseries are features of the local landscape and nearby is the conservation area known as El Hondo.

Outside: Terrace off living room with table and chairs for 4 plus 2 double benches. Easy access by lift or stairs to large private solarium with table and chairs for 4, plus 2 sunbeds with cushions, sunshade and large built in barbecue. Water supply and own shower. Shared use of roof-top pool. Utility Room: Washing machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: Towels and bedlinen provided, but please use your own personal towels for beach and pool. Apartment cleaned between each tenancy - more often by previous arrangement.

We thoroughly enjoyed it, we had no car but enjoyed the short walk into town.

What a lovely Spanish village, and the people are as beautiful as the village. The restaurants were excellent and not expensive, the market was first class and the vegetables fabulous as was the wine and the beer. We had a lovely time.

Exacty what we expected - very good. It was clean ,well equipped and quiet.

Ideal for anyone who does not care for tourists. It is nowhere near any 'night life' but in range of many good places to eat. A hire care is essential in order to visit the wonderful inland countryside and especially the nature reserves.

Instructions were good, we had no problems and would recommend it to anyone who would like a peaceful holiday.

Good property with everything you need

Started with great directions from the airport which were very easy to follow.

Was greeted by a lovely neighbour who let us in and showed us round.

The apartment was very clean and tidy and had everything needed for a pleasant stay including info on places of interest...

We used the apartment as a base to look around the surrounding area and it was so easy to get to the likes of Elche,Santa pola,La marina El fondo etc etc...

Had a wander up the stairs to the roof terreace to find a lovely pool of a decent size and although the weather was very nice was a bit to chiilly for a dip.

Great views to be had from the apartment balcony and from the roof terrace.

Overall if you are looking for a very quiet place to say then this apartment hits the spot although if on holiday do not expect a holiday resort.

All went very smooth from the enquiry and deposit to the final payment and the return of the small damage deposit.

Excellent apartment

We stayed for four nights in the apartment and found it to be clean, comfortable and well equipped. It was well situated on the edge of Dolores which is an unspoilt Spanish town. There was a lively atmosphere in the square when we went in for coffee on the Sunday morning. Local families were meeting up with friends and not a single foreign voice was to be heard apart from our own when we were there - a nice change in Spain these days.

There were lots of interesting places to explore and two natural parks close by with opportunities for bird watching. Being March, we were fortunate that the weather was warm enough to sit and have our breakfast on the spacious balcony with its lovely open aspect. We were also able to sit on the large roof terrace a couple of times with an aperitif whilst watching a local farmer ploughing his field pursued by a flock of egrets. We had a most enjoyable holiday which was over far too quickly.

quality apartment

The instructions provided by the owner on the apartment location and the entry arrangements were clear and easy to follow. We were welcomed at the apartment by the keyholder, and the apartment certainly met with our expectations, it was very well equipped and has a fantastic balcony.

I chose to stay in Dolores as I have cycled extensively in the Alicante and Murcia areas over the last five years and had always thought it was a very attractive Spanish village. It is an ideal base for early season training as the area provides a variety of routes ranging from flat smooth roads to some serious hills within a few miles. The quiet, flat roads are also suitable for social and family rides and you will find cyclists of all levels taking advantage of the area. There are many cycle hire outlets in Alicante and this year I hired at a very competetive rate from Bicicosta in Almoradi about 5 kilometres from Dolores.

The mountain and country views from the balcony are fantastic but this does mean that this quality apartment is at the edge of the village and is at least a 10 minute walk from the delightful square and most of the bars and cafes. However the nearest restaurant on the approach to the apartment, the Casa Pepe, does serve good quality bar meals at a reasonable price.

As our guest has said the benefit of being on the edge of the town is the view from the balcony - and the views from our private roof terrace are also spectacular.

Delightful Dolores

I can only reiterate the previous review " Delightful Dolores".

Whilst I'm sure Dolores wouldn't be a holiday destination that would immediately come to mind, however for those who are looking to experience a taste of Spanish life then this is the Ideal place to stay.

The Apartment is only a short walk from the town, it is homely, comfortable, spotlessly clean and has everything you need to make your stay an enjoyable one.

Dolores is also very well placed with easy access to several stunning beaches, markets and large shopping Mals.

Please give it a try.
