About the Owner

We moved to Pomerols from Bournemouth England in 2001, we knew nobody, we did not speak French, we did not know the region. Now, Pomerols is our home, we know so many wonderful people from all parts of the world. Our French friends have been wonderful and embraced us, with open hearts and arms. We speak enough French now, to be able to spend quality time with our 'Special French Friend', which we call our "French Family"; we really do make the most out of our new life in France. We have discovered so many wonderful places to visit. Life here is just what we thought it would be and more. We are part of the local community, which is very special. David's passion is Sailing...He is a great yacht man and loves playing tennis. I love singing, walking and travel.

Excellent, well equiped, very clean and tidy

  • 5 of 5

On previous trips to the area we had stayed in nearby Florensac but upon searching the internet we came across this property. The images gave the impression of a well card for property and we can confirm the images were spot on. The house is charming, well equipped, clean, tidy and comfortable.

Our journey was somewhat disrupted by the French Air Traffic Control strike, so rather than lose our time away we drove. Jean and David could not have been more helpful and accommodating, our arrival should have been 6pm but due to the drive we arrived at midnight. Jean &and David had no problems in meeting us at this time and had also been shopping for some basic provisions, which were well received and needed after a long drive.

The property is in a great location and is very quiet, Pomerols is an ideal base to explore area. Would definitely recommend.

Owner's Response: When you phoned and said that your flight was cancelled, and that you decided to drive. We thought great. I am sure many people would have just cancelled. You made the journey in amazing time and we were so glad to welcome you all arrival after the drive. Thank you, for coming to stay in our gites in Pomerols. We really hope to see you again sometime in the future. A bientot. Jean and David

An excellent mix of old - world charm with new.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent three wonderful weeks in this excellently renovated 16th century town house. Quite simply "The property does what it says on the tin" The house is very well maintained, very clean and very well equipped. The renovation work carried out by the owners cleverly brings the property up to date whilst at the same time retaining some of its old - world charm. The property is very well located as a base for exploring the lovely Languedoc region, although a car is a must. There are plenty of walks in and around the village with several wine Caves where tasting is a must. The beautiful Mediterranean beaches are only a 15 minute drive away. Places such as Meze, with its quaint marina and seafood restaurants, the old fishing port of Sete and the old town of Agde on the river Herault are all worth a visit and where the gastronomy of the Languedoc region can be savoured. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will not hesitate to recommend this property to family and friends in the future. The owners are brilliant hosts, very friendly, courteous and accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they are always on hand in case of any problems.

Owner's Response: Firstly, So sorry we were not there to say "A bientot". as you know we were away on our holiday. It was so good to meet you both and we were so happy that your daughter and grand children could visit during half term. Thank you for your kind words. Really hope to see you again soon in Pomerols so that we can share another drink or two, whilst getting to know you more. So for now "A bientot"

Warm and Friendly

  • 5 of 5

This was my second visit to this property. The house is very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The town is friendly and you are able to get all provisions needed. There are several small shops near the house and a supermarket about ten minutes walk away. On both visits Jean and David the owners, who live in Pomerols gave a warm and friendly welcome and lots of information about the area, nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this property and enjoyed both my holidays in Pomerols.

Owner's Response: Ah. Thank you for your kind words. We do try to keep the house up to the high standard that we would expect if it was us renting. We have to admit, we have lived here for 12 years, and have never used the bus service. We never knew you could travel around this vast area by bus to the extent that you and your friends did. You amazed us how easy it is. Plus now the local buses are offering all trips for 1€..... How good is that!. We really hope to see ALL you (Waif and Strays) here again soon. Bon Santé, Gros Bisous et A bientot.

South of France sunshine holiday

  • 5 of 5

Our fourth visit in a row. Excellent weather. Well appointed town house with lots of space for stretching out. The fridge on the roof terrace is just one of the touches that makes you realise that you are being well catered for.

Jean and David are excellent hosts who will provide as much or as little information that you need for a very enjoyable holiday. Sense of humour and relaxed bonhomie is a style they have cultivated very well. Simply impeccable!

Owner's Response: Romantic get away.... That is just so sweet. It was lovely to see you both again. Hopefully next you you will return, and I will take you for those walks around the vine yards. I told you about, so bring your walking boots. I'll make a picnic and we can show you some of hidden wonders of this area. You take care of each other and enjoy all of those grand-children of yours. Best place ever

  • 5 of 5

2 months of sheer bliss. The house exactly as per the internet description the owners were just the best people we could hope to meet and we will certainly be going back. We would recommend the house and area to anyone looking for the total package away from home. The owners also have a Bed and breakfast of star quality for a stopover on your way to somewhere else. They are very knowledgeable with regards to the area. Nothing was missing for our 2 month break and there was even outside space to sit out - sometimes with a village this is missing, you are well catered for even out of season. I will be going again in 2015. If you like tennis, sailing or golf David will be on hand to sort all of this out - the care and consideration coming from the owners was beyond anything we have ever experienced.

Owner's Response: During your 2 months stay David and I were just so pleased that we all became friends, you are just such great people. Loved the music nights, personal concerts were just so special :-) Really do hope to see you both back here next year, not just so we can spend more time with you both, but there is just so much of the region still for you to explore. We have lived here 12 years as you know and we are still finding great places. I hope that you conitnue to enjoy your retirement together, you are just an amazing couple. Another trip on the yatch awaits you. A bientot et Gros Bisous

A wonderful five days

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for a better place to stay. The apartment is spacious and has everything needed. There are stairs, so the property would not be suitable for those who would have difficulty climbing to the bedrooms.

The property sleeps 6, there were only two of us and we could see that it would be a great location for a family or group of friends.

We found the listing to be accurate, if anything it was better than we expected. The property was spotlessly clean and is well maintained.

David and Jean provided an excellent orientation to the property and the area, and helpful tips for our on going travel.

We will certainly recommend the property to others.

It was a good location to use as a base to explore the area. The week we were there was very hot and being reasonably close to the beach for a swim was a bonus.

There were good places to eat nearby and we also ate in.

We would love to return and hope this may be possible one day.

From the Owner

We needed income, as work here is hard to find for both the French and all other nationalities. So we purchased No. 13, (unlucky for some) not for us. We renovated it to a high standard, which we still maintain to this day. The house revealed such wonderful original features during the renovation, including a 17th century arch door way, which was hidden behind the old plaster.WOW. We where advertising with "Owners Direct" from 14th February 2005 , as you can see we upgraded to Homeaway in 2015
